Just as she slipped into the room, a voice from behind asked, "Did you go see him again?" Lin Yu turned around; it was him! A flash of panic crossed her eyes, and she quickly turned to look elsewhere.
A cool hand gripped her possessively. His cold, piercing gaze was imposing, and his rough demeanor seemed both passionate and aggressive. A wicked smile played at the corners of his mouth, intriguing yet unsettling. Despite his efforts to appear approachable, there was an underlying intent of coercion. In an instant, he became unapproachable again, releasing her as if to let her appear pitiful, his gaze and expression revealing his unruly pride.
She remained stubborn, her demeanor icy as she said, "Wen Kai, enough! I didn't." Lin Yu's brows furrowed slightly in disgust as she shook her head to avoid his intimate gestures.
"You didn't? What are you afraid of?" Wen Kai retracted his hand and sucked on his fingers. "You smell like him. What mischief have you two been up to?"
"Nothing! Bullshit!" Lin Yu cursed before turning to leave. Her arm was grabbed again, his relentless gaze fixed on her.
"Let's go! Unless you don't want a child anymore, or even his life?"
"Child..." Lin Yu turned back, tears welling in her eyes. "Did you summon those werewolves?"
"Me? You flatter me. If I had that kind of power, I wouldn't be a mere third-in-command."
"When can I see the Elder?"
"Want to see Han Shaoyu? It's simple enough. He wants Xiao Qiang's serum; help him out a bit, and I'm sure you'll get summoned right away."
"You devil."
Wen Kai chuckled noncommittally. "This is all thanks to you."
"I..."
"What about you? Do you know how hard we worked digging tunnels? Do you have any idea what I became after you bit down like that?"
"N-no, it's not like that. You all..."
He gently pulled Lin Yu into his embrace. His voice softened as he continued, "Alright, stop thinking about that freak. He doesn't want you chasing after Ancient Times girls; it's ridiculous that you've saved him time and again."
"What I saw was just him alone; there were no girls like you said."
"Are you stupid? What do you think Ancient Times girls would be like in the future world? They'd probably decay before you even laid eyes on them! Besides, a freak is still a freak; he has peculiar tastes. For love, he would risk everything and sacrifice his youth just to protect her, returning to the future world alone and lonely."
Lin Yu shook her head in despair, covering her ears and shouting, "I don't want to listen."
"If you won't listen, then don't go looking for him. He's the target of everyone's ire right now, struggling to protect himself, and yet you want to stir up trouble. If the boss finds out, you'll be the one to suffer."
Lin Yu listened blankly, her eyes slightly closed as tears began to roll down her cheeks again. "When will you let me see my child?"
"You'll meet when the time is right. Why are you in such a hurry? Get ready; you're going to meet someone soon."
"Who?"
Wen Kai leaned in, pretending to be mysterious. "Someone you've been longing to see your entire life."
As night fell, the earth's light dimmed into an ambiguous twilight. A car sped along a winding mountain road, the sky turning gray and casting a dull hue over everything around.
Inside the car, a figure clad in tight black attire sat stiffly like a wooden puppet. Wen Kai, who was driving, occasionally reached over mischievously to poke Lin Yu, who wore a pained expression.
He was her father—the father who had disappeared after giving her life. Was Wen Kai weaving a story or was this truly the case? Lin Yu's emotions were indeed complicated.
Among the five War Orphans, only her origins remained unclear. They all had parents; she did not. Her memories of her mother were vague from a young age, and living with her adoptive parents, she had no idea who her father was.
Now suddenly a father had emerged. The car jolted as it glided into a dense forest. The headlights shone brightly in the darkness, appearing stark and lonely. Lin Yu gazed through the car window at the trees lining the road and casually remarked, "Why would werewolves go looking for him?"
"You finally decided to talk to me, but unfortunately, it's still about him," Wen Kai said with a bitter smile, his eyes fixed ahead as his expression returned to its usual state. "They want his blood."
"Werewolves and the Vampire Family should be sworn enemies. I've heard reports of large packs of werewolves active in the city; I want to know who they are under the control of."
"Your question is sophisticated; I can't answer it at the moment."
Suddenly, loud sounds echoed from the forest—thud, thud, crack! Wen Kai's eyes widened in fear as he warned, "Be careful."
Lin Yu understood what Wen Kai was nervous about; there must be werewolves lurking in the woods. The rumors about the theft of V2 antibody gene serum must have been orchestrated by the Wolf Leader. Once they obtained the serum, they could transform at will without waiting for a full moon.
Fortunately, there wasn't much serum available; only a small number of werewolves could possess it. If they managed to acquire Rare Serum, they would upgrade into super werewolves.
The forest loomed like a massive black hole, making their insignificant car seem small and pitiful. As the sounds of rustling grew closer, Wen Kai's heart raced with anxiety.
A flickering, ghostly light danced behind the car, following closely. They were the werewolves who had obtained the Rare Serum. After transforming, their memories as humans became shallow. They were hungry and needed to feast on human blood, regardless of who was inside the car.
As someone had put it, these werewolves were a pack of uncivilized beasts. Wen Kai pressed down on the accelerator, and the car shot forward like an arrow released from a bow, resembling a streak of light racing ahead.
The werewolves on either side of the car opened their gaping jaws, revealing their savage forms, eager to swallow both the person and the vehicle whole. Lin Yu rolled down the window, raised his hand against the wind, letting his hair fly wildly as he fired a bullet that spun through the air into a werewolf that had gotten too close to the car.
The speed of the car matched that of the pursuing werewolves. One werewolf became a casualty beneath the wheels, while another opened its mouth wide, exposing its sharp fangs as it gnawed at the car's glass.
Wen Kai dared not let her guard down; she could only observe Lin Yu's actions through the rearview mirror. Her shooting accuracy was unmatched, even surpassing that of Xiao Qiang, that oddball.
As they sped through the forest, the sky darkened ominously. The pursuit by the werewolves showed no signs of slowing down; the car raced like a flash of light toward Ant Nest!
At the end of the road atop a mountain, at Ant Nest Castle, a welcome ceremony was already prepared. The high-ranking Elder Vampire looked down with satisfaction at the busy slaves and clan members in the grand hall below.
The Vampire Clan aimed to become Earth's future overlords. Before finding the owner of the Rare Serum, he would finally meet his daughter living on Earth.
A car was surrounded by werewolves on all sides, dozens of them chasing, biting, and leaping after it. On top of the tall walls, Han Shaoyu coldly stared at the werewolves and squeezed out a single word through clenched teeth, issuing a harsh command: "Kill!"
