The night was thick with a stench of decay and the aura of death. Dongjiawan Station was deserted, the tunnel unusually quiet, devoid of the imagined chaos of battle. The headlights flickered over a figure standing still, as cold and indifferent as a corpse—Lin Yu. Seeing her again stirred different feelings in Matt and Wu Yi. 0

There was no exhilarating embrace, just an unspoken understanding between them. Lin Yu got into the car, and despite Matt's attempts to engage Wu Yi in conversation, she remained silent. 0

Matt and Wu Yi hesitated to pry further. 0

"You..." she began but faltered, unwilling to mention a certain name. 0

Wu Yi's heart ached as she glanced at Lin Yu, whose eyes were deep with sorrow and whose complexion was pale, lacking any trace of human color. They were so close, yet there was no warmth; the rumors that she had turned into a vampire seemed true. 0

"Are you asking about Xiao Qiang?" 0

"I sensed him here, but I don't know why I haven't seen him." 0

"What do you mean?" Matt's anxiety grew; Lin Yu had arrived before them and still hadn't seen Xiao Qiang. Could something have happened to him? But upon reflection, he wasn't an ordinary person; with his abilities, he shouldn't be in such dire straits. 0

"I'll go look for him. You two shouldn't wait for him." 0

"I'm going too." Without hesitation, Wu Yi stood up and opened the car door, determined to follow Lin Yu into the tunnel. 0

Inside the tunnel, water dripped from somewhere above, echoing with a deep sound as it fell drop by drop. 0

There were still a couple of dim streetlights flickering in the tunnel, their light wavering in the wind, creating an unsettling atmosphere. Wu Yi wasn't afraid of werewolves or extraterrestrial beings; her greatest fear in life was ghosts. 0

"Wow, there can't be ghosts here, right?" 0

"Humans are scarier than ghosts." Lin Yu raised her gun, furrowing her brow as an ominous feeling washed over her. Aside from a few corpses outside, the ground inside the tunnel was eerily clean, devoid of any bloody scenes. "They didn't fight here." As she spoke, she crouched down to lift the manhole cover on the ground. Shaking her head to herself, she muttered, "He shouldn't have come here." 0

"Strange." Wu Yi felt equally puzzled; Lin Yu's sense of smell and judgment were far from perfect. If she said Xiao Qiang hadn't entered the tunnel and there was no chance he had been taken by a werewolf, then where could he have gone? 0

"Let's go outside and take a look." 0

Once outside, Matt was examining the wounds on the corpses. Wearing special gloves, he discovered they all had fatal stab wounds to the chest and neck. 0

Only Xiao Qiang could employ such lethal methods because he understood that werewolves possessed certain regenerative abilities. Even the lowest-level werewolf could gradually heal wounds unless they sustained a fatal injury. 0

"Look here," Lin Yu said, her tone laced with doubt and surprise. At her feet, there was a glimmer of humanoid crystal on the ground. She hesitated to reach out and touch it, maintaining a cautious distance as she observed. 0

"What is this?" Matt asked, dipping his fingertip into the crystalline substance and bringing it to his nose. "Colorless and odorless!" 0

Lin Yu replied flatly, "Silver Nitrate." 0

"Silver Nitrate?" Wu Yi exchanged a glance with Matt, who furrowed his brow in thought. Suddenly, Wu Yi recalled something and warned, "This is bad; we might have put Xiao Qiang in danger." 0

"What?" Matt still hadn't connected the dots from earlier. Lin Yu was extremely anxious but pretended to be indifferent, avoiding the glare of the headlights as she carefully examined their surroundings. 0

Noticing that Lin Yu had moved a good distance away from them, Wu Yi whispered, "Don't you remember that V2 zombie Gene Vaccine?" 0

"I... damn it..." Matt slapped his forehead, cursing himself inwardly. "What an idiot I am..." 0

Lin Yu picked up several cigarette butts from the ground and sniffed them. Her expression suddenly changed as she turned sharply toward Matt and the others. "Xiao Qiang has been taken." 0

"Who?" Matt and Wu Yi asked in unison. 0

"Li Hang." 0

"Him?" Matt was taken aback. He and Wu Yi were not very clear about the situation regarding the Professor R. There were all sorts of rumors; some said he orchestrated everything himself, pretending to cooperate with them to obtain Rare Serum and research plans. Others claimed that the Professor R had connections with vampires and werewolves—who could tell what was true? Now that Li Hang was involved, could it be related to R? 0

Injecting Silver Nitrate into a bullet posed a lethal threat to both the Vampire Family and werewolves. Once Silver Nitrate entered their bodies, it would automatically spread through the capillaries, leading to decay and death without any chance of healing. 0

This humanoid crystal substance seemed to be Li Hang's handiwork. If he had carried such a gun and then fired... Matt envisioned the scene in his mind, his gaze fixating on Lin Yu's sculpted, emotionless face. 0

Feeling Matt's intense stare fixed on her, Lin Yu realized he was suspecting the Professor R. After a moment's hesitation, she admitted, "I've seen Wen Kai and the Professor R; I've also seen Li Hang." 0

"Where were they?" 0

"I can refuse to answer that," she replied cautiously. "But it's better for you not to get involved with them." Lin Yu was concerned about the child in their hands and the damned unspoken rules. When they entered Han Shaoyu's lair, a member of the Vampire Family had explained the family rules to her: if family secrets were leaked, there would only be one outcome—a brutal execution by being burned alive under sunlight for betraying the family. 0

Although Lin Yu didn't mention that the Professor R was now one of their Vampire Family members, Matt understood well enough what she meant. 0

As time changed, everything that once existed faded away, and it was inevitable for everyone to have their own interests. However, when she mentioned that Li Hang seemed to have appeared somewhere, a glimmer of hope sparked within her, wishing that he and Professor R were not in cahoots. 0

In Matt's eyes, Lin Yu was not dead and still cared about Xiao Qiang. Both he and Wu Yi tacitly avoided bringing up the child in front of her, fearing it would touch on each other's pain. 0

Unexpectedly, Lin Yu revealed something that astonished both of them. 0

"The child is in their hands; you need to find a way to help me investigate." 0

"Weren't the rumors saying you had already bitten the child to death?" Wu Yi exclaimed in surprise. 0

"Is that what the rumors say?" Lin Yu said incredulously. "I don't remember what happened that night. Isn't it strange?" 0

"What do you mean?" 0

"When I woke up, it felt like more than ten years had passed." Lin Yu frowned helplessly. 0

"You were in cryogenic sleep under Professor R," Matt suddenly realized. "No wonder there hasn't been any news about you; it all makes sense now." 0
