Chapter 084: Home Alone
Matt and Wu Yi were temporarily safe, but they couldn't care less about Xiao Qiang's safety; they needed to find a way to notify the Alliance Leader and the leaders.
Vampire Lair; another day had arrived. It was a bad season, with rain falling for several days, drizzling incessantly. The dark rain poured down like a curtain, shrouding the sky and ground in a hazy blend, making it difficult to distinguish where the sky ended and the ground began.
This season was an excellent time for vampires to hunt werewolves. The fog blocked out the light, allowing them to wear Gothic Armor and walk outside during the day without fear.
Han Shaoyu had Lin Yu under house arrest. He intended to seize the opportunity before the rain stopped to capture and kill the Beast Werewolf. In his plan, werewolves were merely slaves of the Han Clan Vampire Family for life. As long as he eliminated all the Beast Werewolves outside, his plan would be one-third successful.
Cold Star liked this sister who had suddenly appeared from nowhere; she enjoyed watching her.
"Sister, you are so beautiful."
Lin Yu affectionately touched Cold Star's slightly upturned nose and said, "Actually, you are also a beauty; you just came to the wrong place."
"My father loves me very much. He says that in the future, he will pass down the elder position to me."
"Well, tell me, who is the 'Yu' you mentioned that day?"
Cold Star shook her head sadly at Lin Yu's mention of 'Yu,' avoiding the topic. "Sister, I want to take you to a very scary place."
It was an empty, cold room with a pillar in the center. Hanging from the pillar was a desiccated corpse; rather than being dried out, it looked as if it had been burned by sunlight.
"...What is this?" Lin Yu stared in shock at the seemingly tortured and despairing remains, fixated on the corpse that appeared ready to crumble into dust at any moment. It felt as if she could hear the desperate wails echoing in her mind and see the flames of sunlight mercilessly burning it. Trembling, she asked, "Who is he?"
Cold Star shook her head. "I don't know, but my father never wants me to come here."
"Then how did you get in? And why did you bring me?"
"It was Luca who gave me the key." Cold Star held out the key for Lin Yu to see.
Lin Yu looked up at the ceiling. At its highest point, she saw a circular cover and imagined that this cover was used as a punishment tool for members of the Vampire Family who violated unspoken rules.
As soon as that circular cover was removed, beams of light would pour in, turning any rule-breaking member of the Vampire Family into ashes. She approached the remains and suddenly noticed a chain hanging from its chest.
It was an instinctive move. Lin Yu reached out and gently tugged at the Chain. To his surprise, with just that light pull, the remnants silently softened and fell to the ground.
"Sister, you've gotten yourself into trouble," Cold Star said, watching from the side with a cold gaze. Seeing Lin Yu fall for it, a sinister smile flashed across her delicate face. "Father has kept this remains for many years. I heard from Luca that this was Father's beloved."
Lin Yu was astonished. "Why didn't you tell me any of this? Since this is the execution chamber of the Vampire Family, why did you bring me here?"
Under her relentless questioning, Cold Star stepped back hurriedly, biting her lip in frustration. "I am the heir of the family, not you! Why are you here?"
"What does that have to do with anything? Are you afraid I'll take your inheritance?" Lin Yu replied, speechless, gripping the Chain in his hand. He found Cold Star's concerns and suspicions amusing; however, the little girl was quite cunning, and despite his caution, he had still fallen into her trap.
Cold Star smirked slyly as she stepped back and pressed a mechanism... With a rumble, the heavy Giant Stone Gate began to descend. In a split second, Lin Yu leaped forward and grabbed her, rolling away from the descending gate.
"You really are a bad girl," Lin Yu said as he released Cold Star, who was thrashing and screaming. Not wanting to hurt her, he scolded, "I won't take anything from you. Why do you want to harm me?"
"You took away my only father's love! In the Vampire Family, elders hold power..." Cold Star bared her fangs, her beautiful face twisting into something terrifying.
"Do you want to fight me?" Lin Yu did not regard this little girl as a threat. Even though Cold Star was baring her teeth and lunging at him, he merely dodged without retaliating.
If it were me, I wouldn't underestimate this Vampire Girl. But in Lin Yu's eyes, she was just an immature girl, which led to him being caught off guard by her fierce grip.
Pain shot through his arm as blood oozed from a deep gash. Lin Yu was startled and suddenly evaded her second attack. Just as they were locked in their struggle, a boy walked in from the corner.
Seeing Cold Star about to gain the upper hand, the boy shouted loudly, "Stop! What kind of bullying is this?"
Though small in stature, his voice was loud and sharp-eyed, resembling someone familiar. Lin Yu couldn't help but halt his movements, fixing his gaze on the boy without guarding against another attack from Cold Star. Instead, he asked in a questioning tone, "Kid, what's your name?"
"Don't tell her!" Cold Star urged as she clawed at Lin Yu's sleeve, tearing it open to reveal bloody scratches.
The boy stared blankly at Lin Yu before glancing at Cold Star. "You both stop fighting!"
The scuffle between Lin Yu and Cold Star had drawn the attention of some Wolfman Slaves who were working nearby. Li Hang appeared among them, holding a whip with a knife tip.
Upon seeing Li Hang, memories of finding cigarette butts at Dongjiawan and what Matt had said flashed through Lin Yu's mind.
"Get lost!" Cold Star shouted angrily at Li Hang, once again advancing fiercely towards Lin Yu.
"Miss, don't be willful and unreasonable." Li Hang's face was chiseled and exceptionally handsome, yet it exuded an intimidating chill. Surprisingly, his words stunned Cold Star, causing the young girl to halt her attack and retract her fierce gaze as if she wanted to slip away.
Just as she took a step, Lin Yu, quick on his feet, grabbed her arm. "Don't go. Since you called me sister, let me tell you something."
With Li Hang's appearance, the little boy had vanished, seemingly frightened of the whip in his hand.
Cold Star screamed and struggled futilely, even baring her fangs in an attempt to bite Lin Yu.
Lin Yu restrained Cold Star's arm and swiftly drew a dagger from his boot, flashing its blade deliberately as he said, "You're being unreasonable. Let's see if I can pry your teeth out."
Li Hang hesitated but stepped forward. "Don't hurt her."
"You think I would harm a little girl?" Lin Yu scoffed, casting a disdainful glance at Li Hang. He added with a hint of challenge, "Do you have a clone technique?" The other party was taken aback as he shifted his focus back to Cold Star. "Don't worry, I won't take anything from you, not even your father."
"You swear an oath," Cold Star pressed further.
