If a member of the Vampire Family were infected with the V2 Zombie Virus, their blood would generate negative energy, not only affecting their self-healing abilities but also gradually depleting their own energy—an unimaginable consequence.
Han Shaoyu regarded Lin Yu's statement with skepticism. He turned to Professor R and asked, "Is that true?"
Professor R wore a complex expression. Having been a silent observer until now, he found himself caught off guard by Lin Yu’s intervention. He hesitated on how to respond while glancing at Wen Kai, who leaned against the doorframe with an expression of detached amusement.
Lin Yu appeared calm on the surface but was tumultuous inside. She prepared herself for any eventuality; if Professor R dared to deny it, she would personally deal with this old fool who had become so muddled over time.
Slowly, after much deliberation and under the gaze of many eyes, the Professor R softly uttered two words: "Yes."
These two words startled Han Shaoyu. He glared fiercely at Li Hang, his expression filled with disgust as he spat, "Where did you come from? Get back there."
In truth, Li Hang knew that Han Shaoyu was not someone to be trifled with. The reason he hadn’t killed him was that he still didn’t fully understand his situation.
After ordering Li Hang to leave, Wen Kai seemed to breathe a sigh of relief as he stepped forward, swiftly cutting the ropes with his dagger. With an expressionless face, he returned to his spot, ignoring everyone present and striding out confidently.
Lin Yuping remained calm and composed, her heart like still water; it had to be this way. She had just observed that as Li Hang left, Han Shaoyu was watching her.
Having dealt with Li Hang, Han Shaoyu's gaze fixed on Cold Star, who was trembling in fear.
"Cold Star, what are you afraid of?"
Following Han Shaoyu's line of sight, Lin Yu looked over... and felt dizzy. How had she not noticed the Chain around Cold Star's neck? Things had truly spiraled out of control.
"Cold Star, come here." Han Shaoyu's gaze never left Cold Star; he simply stared intently.
Cold Star glanced at Lin Yu for help. The latter opened her mouth to speak but was halted by Han Shaoyu raising his hand.
Wen Kai and the Professor R were puzzled about what Han Shaoyu was planning. However, since Li Hang seemed unharmed, they thought the upcoming events had nothing to do with them and wanted to leave.
"Master of the fortress, this has nothing to do with us. Don’t you see?"
Han Shaoyu shifted his gaze away from the chain around Cold Star's neck and glanced at Wen Kai and Professor R. "Wait a moment, I'll handle this matter. We have important things to discuss."
Cold Star, trembling, had already approached Han Shaoyu.
Suddenly, Han Shaoyu reached out and grabbed the chain around her neck. He flipped it over to examine it and then released his grip. "Where did you get this chain?"
"It’s..."
Han Shaoyu extended his long, sharp nails and lightly scratched Cold Star's cheek. He stretched out his arm unnecessarily to support her, murmuring in a gentle yet puzzled tone. He quickly reined in his fierce aura and replaced it with a more approachable demeanor. "Tell me, child, where did you get this chain?"
Cold Star glanced back at Lin Yu, hesitantly moving her lips. "It was given to me by Sister Lin Yu."
Lin Yu stood calmly in place, showing indifference to Cold Star's words.
Han Shaoyu scrutinized Lin Yu with a probing gaze before loosening his grip on the chain. In a calm tone, he unexpectedly said, "You both can leave."
Cold Star looked at Han Shaoyu in disbelief; he nodded at her. Cautiously, she took small steps back until she was next to Lin Yu. She cast a fearful glance at the silent Luca before they both exited.
What does Han Shaoyu mean? Lin Yu sighed as she watched Cold Star. The little girl was also looking at her. "What’s wrong? Were you scared just now?"
"Yes, Father has never allowed me to appear in such a solemn place," Cold Star said, fiddling with the chain as she examined it closely. "Is this left by my mother?"
"I don’t know." Although Han Shaoyu hadn’t punished Cold Star or Li Hang, Lin Yu still felt uneasy. She was eager to find out what the Vampire Family was discussing in their meeting and what the content of that meeting was about.
"Sister, why did Father kick you out when you're already a council member?"
"I don't know." Lin Yu raised an eyebrow. "Cold Star, take me to find that boy."
"Okay."
Lin Yu felt an unsettling intuition deep within her, as if it was connected to that boy. It was a kind of instinct! She and Cold Star searched everywhere for the boy but couldn't find him. Suddenly, she remembered the place Li Hang had once taken her to—the Secret Laboratory.
Cold Star and Lin Yu carefully avoided the slaves in the cave and stealthily made their way toward the secret research facility.
The small hole, just big enough to peek through, was still there. Lin Yu instructed Cold Star to keep watch outside while she crouched beside the peephole, observing the scene inside.
The interior was empty. Where was Professor R? Just then, she noticed some movement at the main entrance; someone had pushed open the door. To her surprise, Han Shaoyu appeared at the doorway with several others.
"They took the child and left," Han Shaoyu said, his cold expression unchanged, his tone low and chilling. He seemed like a different person from just moments ago—could a vampire really play multiple roles?
Wait! What did Han Shaoyu mean by saying they took the child and left? Lin Yu paused for a moment, recalling that boy.
