"Sorry, Susan, what were you applying for just now?"
Shasha, coming back to her senses, rubbed her temples in frustration. How much had her arrival changed things?
"I think I've been clear enough. I'm here to apply for the position of Administrative Assistant."
Susan wore a confident smile; she was determined to secure this position. After all, her qualifications and abilities were solid, and her looks would certainly add to her appeal.
"But the Administrative Assistant position is already filled," Shasha said, glancing at Wanda Maximoff, who was working outside the window.
Susan did not show any signs of disappointment upon hearing this. She had done her homework about Samar Industrial before coming.
"Mr. Samar, the roles of Administrative Assistant and Internal Affairs Assistant do not conflict."
Shasha raised an eyebrow. Indeed, Wanda Maximoff held the position of Internal Affairs Assistant rather than Administrative Assistant. If Susan accepted the administrative role, then she would truly be running the show. However, Shasha remained concerned about whether the Fantastic Four could come into existence.
So she asked the System, "Will changing the course of the world disrupt these people's predetermined fates?"
The System responded succinctly, "No!"
Shasha breathed a sigh of relief and smiled at Susan. "Congratulations on securing this position."
"Thank you! I won't let you down," Susan replied. Initially uncertain while contemplating Shasha, she now beamed with a sweet smile, knowing she wouldn't disappoint anyone, including herself.
With capability and beauty, who wouldn't want such an assistant? In fact, without any reservations, Shasha wouldn't refuse someone like her; only a fool would turn down such an opportunity.
After handing over the company materials to Susan and discussing some current collaboration projects, Shasha left the office.
It was rare for someone to help him handle matters; if he didn't take advantage of it, he would be doing himself a disservice.
Within the company, news of the new addition quickly spread throughout the entire office building.
Even Wanda Maximoff learned that Shasha had a beautiful and sexy assistant by his side. It would be self-deception to think she wouldn't have any extra thoughts about it, especially since she had feelings for Shasha. Consequently, she naturally felt threatened.
It was unclear whether Shasha was aware of this or not, but the two assistants' offices were distinctly separated, one on the left and one on the right.
Through her office, Wanda Maximoff glanced at Susan, her eyes filled with a hint of hostility.
Feeling someone's gaze upon her, Susan turned her head and caught sight of Wanda Maximoff, who hadn't quite managed to look away yet. She offered a slight smile and nodded, trying to convey her goodwill.
Wanda responded with a stiff smile.
In contrast to Wanda's relatively shallow experience, Susan quickly saw through the situation, wearing a knowing smile.
'Who would have thought this young president had such charm that someone would be jealous of him?'
'That woman's expression is really annoying; is she feeling smug?' Wanda Maximoff thought indignantly as she turned her head away.
Shasha was unaware that his two assistants were not getting along. At that moment, he was leisurely walking his dog when he passed by a restaurant and suddenly recalled a name that had disappeared for several months.
Li Qianhuan.
This girl seemed to have been gone for quite some time. Ever since she left, there hadn't been a single word from her, as if she had evaporated from the world. If she were off doing something important, it shouldn't take this long.
Looking back on her departure, it seemed so casual, just like any ordinary outing.
"Could she really be in trouble?"
With that thought, Shasha felt restless. Although it had been a long time, finding someone in S.H.I.E.L.D. was still quite simple. However, this time he did not intend to seek their help. After all, Nick had just encouraged him and Tony to join the Avengers; he certainly didn't want Nick to use this as an opportunity to make a point.
Thus, Shasha headed to the academy. If anyone understood mutants best, it was undoubtedly Professor Charles. Whenever he discovered a mutant, he would mark their location for future recruitment and training.
So far, the only coordinates he had deleted were those of mutants who had either died or joined the Brotherhood.
But as Shasha drove to the academy, a sense among the Level 4 mutants alerted Charles even before Shasha entered the academy grounds.
As a result, Shasha found Aurora, Charles' right-hand woman, waiting at the entrance of the academy.
He tipped his hat in greeting, and she responded with a smile and a nod. This Black Pearl made him feel much more at ease than interacting with Jean Grey, who always seemed to have a sour expression towards him.
"Have you run into any trouble lately?" Shasha asked casually.
Aurora shook her head and smiled. "Not at all. We haven't had such peaceful times in a long while. You know we used to deal with that bunch from the Brotherhood quite often."
Looking at Shasha, she couldn't help but marvel at how much he had grown. It hadn't been long since that rookie first awakened his powers, and now he was on par with Professor Charles? Back then, Scott had been quite vocal about bringing Shasha back. It seemed Professor Charles had truly thought ahead; he must have anticipated this moment.
Unaware of Aurora's admiration, Shasha was lost in thought about something else.
Now that Wolverine and Lady Deathstrike had appeared, why was there no reaction from Magneto's side? Hadn't he built a machine capable of altering the genetic structure of all humanity in America? Had he given up on that idea?
Before he knew it, they had arrived at the principal's office door.
Aurora opened the door, and as they entered, they saw Charles as usual, wearing his serene smile.
"Long time no see, Professor Charles," Shasha said, always holding great respect for him.
"I occasionally see reports about you in the newspapers. You’ve become quite a figure in New York," Charles replied with a hint of playful teasing.
"Compared to you, my achievements are probably insignificant," Shasha humbly responded.
Charles shook his head. "Why sell yourself short? In less than half a year, you've grown from a Level 1 mutant to a Level 4. Many people never reach that level. You should know that it took me and Max—Magneto—ten years to get to this point. You deserve the recognition from me and that guy."
Hearing the praise made Shasha feel awkward; he was not someone who enjoyed compliments, as they made him uncomfortable.
Noticing his embarrassment, Charles chuckled and shifted the topic. "Alright, enough of that. Let’s get back to why you came to see me."
Seeing Charles was getting serious, Shasha's expression turned earnest. "Professor Charles, I hope you can help me find someone. She is also a mutant."
