"What do you mean?" Susan frowned at Wanda Maximoff.
"I mean the literal meaning," Wanda Maximoff replied slowly, her previous shyness replaced by confidence.
"I admit that I did have a romantic relationship with him at one point, but that is not the reason I recommended him. The prospects of this project are quite good, and that is why I suggested it to the boss," Susan stated seriously.
Wanda Maximoff scoffed at this, thinking how righteous Susan sounded while still harboring ulterior motives.
As the tension between the two women escalated, Shasha quickly interjected, "Alright, alright, this matter has already been decided, so there's no need to argue further. Susan, you'll be in charge of the project's follow-up, and as for the investment funds, Wanda Maximoff, you'll handle that."
The two women exchanged glances filled with sparks before huffing and slowly walking away.
Seeing the standoff between her assistants, Shasha felt helpless; she didn't even know when they had become so incompatible.
After resolving the issue, Shasha called Tony, who hadn't contacted her in a while.
Once the call connected, Tony's distinctive voice came through, tinged with a hint of apology. "Hey there, sorry I've been a bit busy lately."
"It's fine; you take care of your things," Shasha replied with a smile, then casually added, "But there's something I want to ask you. Have you..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Tony confessed, "Yes, I joined S.H.I.E.L.D. I'm now a consultant there."
Shasha thought to herself that it made sense; no wonder she hadn't seen him around lately—he must have been busy with S.H.I.E.L.D.
Not hearing Shasha respond right away, Tony assumed his friend was upset for not consulting her first and quickly explained, "That guy sent over a letter from my father; I had no choice."
"I'm not mad at you; after all, I can't interfere with anyone's choices, can I? I'm just curious—what do you think of S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Shasha asked with an unconcerned smile.
She truly didn't mind; after all, Tony was destined to join S.H.I.E.L.D., considering his father was one of its founding members.
"I'm glad you understand. Also, Nick wanted me to ask for your opinion."
"I'll pass; I don't like being controlled."
"Is that so? Then I'll go talk to that guy. If you need anything, just contact me. I have to get back to work now."
After hanging up the phone, Shasha shook her head with a sigh. The S.H.I.E.L.D. was currently at its peak, recruiting a bunch of strong individuals and holding the Avengers, a powerful weapon, in their hands. Nick Fury was certainly riding high on success.
Getting up, she thought about how Thor seemed to be returning to his position. That Destroyer had some impressive materials.
Recalling Phil using the weapon modified by the Destroyer, which had immense power, she considered it quite a good piece of equipment.
She didn't want to think about Mjolnir; after all, that was something she couldn't lift. Either one had to be recognized for their strength or their character. The latter was out of the question, and her strength hadn't reached that level yet.
However, since the Destroyer's pursuit hadn't begun yet, Thor's return would likely take some time. She could start dealing with matters concerning the Hellfire Club in the meantime.
Since her last encounter with the Black Queen, the White Queen hadn't contacted her at all. Was there some oversight in between? Or had she sensed something from her meeting with the Black Queen and started to suspect her?
While Shasha pondered these thoughts, the White Queen was observing the girl before her with a scrutinizing gaze.
After a moment, a playful expression appeared on her face. "Felicia Hardy, daughter of Walter Hardy. Your father was involved with the Black Queen; why do you want to ally with me?"
It turned out that the girl before the White Queen was none other than Felicia, who had been missing for a long time. Ever since she got out of prison, she had been investigating her father's past involvement with a mysterious organization working for a powerful figure. Due to discovering a certain secret, he was killed to silence him. Eventually, she uncovered this organization called the Hellfire Club.
Understanding the situation, Felicia traced back to find out her enemy's true identity. Lacking the ability to take revenge herself, she decided to use someone else's hand instead. The enemy of my enemy is my friend; this has been a truth since ancient times.
Without much hesitation, she chose to ally with Emma Frost, the White Queen and rival of the Black Queen.
"Let’s not beat around the bush. Since you know about my father, you must also know how he died. As his daughter, I naturally want revenge!" Felicia said coldly.
The White Queen remained unfazed and replied calmly, "Indeed, I know some things. But I also know how that woman operates; there's no guarantee you're not an undercover agent sent by her. So how can I trust you?"
Felicia fell silent; she wasn't good at convincing others.
The White Queen smiled slightly and said, "But I'm not someone who lacks understanding. You just need to do one thing for me."
Felicia furrowed her brows at her words, then relaxed. "What is it?"
The White Queen's lips curled up. "I know your skills in stealth are impressive, and you can infiltrate without being noticed. So, I want you to help me rescue someone. Once the task is completed, you'll be able to officially join my organization."
"Who is it?"
"Magneto!"
The White Queen wanted to rescue Magneto, and at the same time, another person had found Shasha, with the same goal of rescuing Magneto.
Even transformed into a stranger with blonde hair, Shasha easily recognized her true identity.
