When Shasha reached the floor where the White Queen was located, she encountered Felicia, whom she hadn't seen in a long time.
The two exchanged nods and shared glances, seemingly asking each other about any progress, but ultimately found themselves empty-handed.
As they stepped into the elevator, Shasha spoke first, "Have you found any clues?"
"Not a single lead," Felicia sighed lightly. "I had hoped for something from the White Queen, but it seems that's not going to happen."
Shasha nodded in silence, and after a moment, she slowly said, "At this point, if we want to find the statue's location, we can only look for the Black Queen and her subordinates. This situation might actually present an opportunity."
Ding.
The elevator arrived at their destination, and they both stepped out. Before entering the White Queen's office, they noticed a scruffy-looking man watching them with interest. He wore a slightly worn beige trench coat and had four half-length wooden sticks tucked into his waist, making his appearance quite peculiar.
"The White Queen is inside, but I lack patience. I want to see who will fight alongside me later," he said.
Hearing this, Shasha glanced at him and replied coolly, "So what do you see now?"
"I see... nothing particularly special, except that this lady has quite an impressive figure," the man teased, his seemingly sleepy eyes scanning Felicia with a hint of mischief.
In response to his gaze, Felicia chose to express her feelings through action. She swiftly kicked her long leg towards the man's abdomen with force and precision.
The man stumbled back as Felicia advanced, throwing a powerful right punch aimed directly at his mouth. That mouth was truly annoying!
However, it seemed this guy was quite skilled; he effortlessly dodged Felicia's rapid attacks as if he were dancing.
In just about two minutes, Felicia, who had initially held the upper hand, found herself gradually losing ground. It was then that Shasha decided to intervene.
Without anyone noticing how she moved, she appeared right in front of the man and delivered a solid punch to his abdomen before he could react, causing him to spit out his breakfast from earlier that day.
Seeing Shasha take action, Felicia crossed her arms and watched the scene unfold with amusement.
Taking two steps back, Shasha didn't press her advantage but waited for him to regain his composure.
"I didn't expect you to hit so hard. It seems you won't know my true strength unless I show you," the man wiped his mouth and reached into his coat pocket. When he pulled out his hand again, he held five playing cards.
Seeing this scene, Shasha's heart stirred, and a figure flashed through her mind. Just as she was about to remain alert for the other party's next move, the emotionless voice of White Queen came from the office.
“Limi, stop it. Do you really think things aren't chaotic enough right now?”
The nonchalant Limi shrugged and tucked the playing cards into his pocket. “Consider yourselves lucky.”
Watching him walk into the office without a care, Felicia approached Shasha and whispered, “This guy should be the black car that White Queen mentioned before. I don't know much about him, but he's supposed to be quite formidable.”
Shasha nodded slightly at her words. Formidable? Indeed. Combining the earlier observations of this guy's appearance and the playing cards in his hand, she had basically confirmed his identity.
Limi LeBo, nicknamed 'Card King', was a mutant. His ability allowed him to infuse kinetic energy into any object he touched, causing it to explode. He earned the nickname Card King due to his frequent use of playing cards.
It was unexpected that this guy was working for White Queen; it seemed she wasn't without her own capable subordinates.
With these thoughts in mind, Shasha followed Felicia into the office.
White Queen sat at her desk while Card King leaned against a bench and sofa, showing no intention of offering a seat.
Shasha raised an eyebrow and pulled up two spare office chairs for herself and Felicia to sit down. Having already gathered most of the situation beforehand, they simply waited for White Queen to speak.
“You're aware of the specifics; that woman suddenly declared war like a madwoman without any warning,” White Queen said, barely concealing her inner anger. “She disregarded our agreement and treated the Elite Council with utter contempt—it's simply outrageous!”
While White Queen vented her anger and accusations, Shasha had a different perspective. “Logically speaking, Black Queen wouldn't make such a hasty decision. Either something happened that compelled her to make a firm resolution, or she didn't want to wait any longer and decided to strike first to gain an advantage. Of these two possibilities, I lean towards the former.”
White Queen nodded repeatedly at Shasha's analysis. She wasn't unintelligent; she just wasn't adept at calculations and strategies. Now hearing Shasha's reasoning, she decided that there must be a reason behind it all. Perhaps understanding the events leading up to this situation could help unravel the dilemma.
Card King remained silent but internally agreed with Shasha's analysis. Although he acted somewhat arrogantly, it didn't mean he lacked intelligence. After all, anyone who had made a name for themselves in the world over many years was not without merit.
“So what do you think made her initiate war early?” Given White Queen's understanding of Black Queen, despite their long-standing relationship, that woman was often mysterious; she had no idea what Black Queen might be doing behind the scenes.
Seeing White Queen's curious expression, Shasha looked at her and slowly uttered one word: “Statue!”
“Statue?” White Queen frowned in thought before quickly recalling what Shasha and Felicia had come together for not long ago. Her expression changed instantly. “What exactly is that statue? You didn't clarify last time.”
Shasha and Felicia exchanged a glance, and it was Shasha who explained, "That statue is a representation of the Evil God. It has been nourished by the blood and life force of humans over many years, intended for some unknown purpose. I have researched many books, and the ultimate function of such things is to accumulate enough desire from sacrifices to transform into willpower, which can then fulfill various wishes."
"Various wishes?" The White Queen exclaimed in shock, a hint of greed flashing uncontrollably in her eyes.
Noticing the expression on the White Queen's face, Shasha lowered her head, a smirk playing at the corners of her mouth as she said lightly, "That statue is dedicated to the Black Queen through faith and rituals; others cannot use it."
The White Queen sighed regretfully upon hearing this. Once she regained her composure, she said, "If what you say is true, then she must be brewing something significant right now."
"Although we don't know her intentions, we must stop her. Given her nature, her wishes are certainly not good ones," Card King spoke up, realizing the seriousness of the situation and shedding his previously carefree demeanor.
The White Queen nodded, feeling quite ashamed. She recalled that when Shasha and Felicia had asked her to investigate earlier, she had taken it lightly. Now, however, she found herself at the center of solving the problem.
"Then let's put everything else aside for now and prioritize finding the location of the statue!"
