When Shasha found Rosa, she used her spatial transfer ability to arrive at the highest point of a building in the city.
It seemed that whenever people were feeling down, they liked to go to high places to feel the wind and gaze at the vast scenery, hoping to ease their troubled hearts. However, there were also those who, standing at such heights, would ponder how to confront their lingering thoughts.
Rosa paid no attention to Shasha's arrival; even when Shasha sat beside her, she remained motionless, not uttering a single word. It was as if silence had replaced all her actions.
"Do you know? Actually, death is simpler than living. At least you no longer have to bear those responsibilities. But I understand that those who have passed are often very attached to life because they have too many regrets about things left undone," Shasha slowly turned to look at the still silent Rosa and said softly, "So at times like this, it’s up to their family or friends to fulfill those regrets and take on their responsibilities. You should feel relieved; Du General won’t have to worry about these matters anymore. His wishes will be fulfilled by us, and he can finally rest."
Rosa finally spoke up, "You’re not him. How do you know what he wanted? Maybe he wanted to personally drive Tao Tie off the Earth? You don’t understand him at all; he has had regrets for a long time and has been desperately trying to make up for them!"
"So you don’t think he’s tired? Having to deal with these regrets and trying to make amends for everything? If it were you, wouldn’t you be exhausted?"
Rosa was taken aback by the question and then smiled bitterly. "I’m not like you."
"Where do we even have time to dwell on sadness now?" Shasha chuckled lightly. "At that time, Soton faced those Tao Tie all alone, and afterward I didn’t even know if he was alive or dead. As a friend, I failed him miserably. I couldn’t even spare a moment for sadness because I knew there were more people waiting for me."
"You’re right; we really don’t have any time left for sorrow or regret," Rosa took a deep breath as if casting aside all the clutter in her mind. She slowly stood up and walked toward the exit while saying lightly, "And you don’t need to worry about me doing anything foolish. I’m not that fragile; everyone has moments when they feel down."
"Should I commend you for being rational?" Shasha laughed softly as she watched Rosa disappear from view.
Rosa was in such a hurry to leave not because she had come to terms with things but because she feared her weakness would be exposed. Always one to present a strong facade as the backbone of morale, how could she allow others to be disappointed?
It was precisely because Shasha understood this that she offered her advice so pointedly, even if it came off as overly blunt or disrespectful. It often proved that a harsh wake-up call was the most effective.
The next day, Rosa showed no signs of abnormality. Lianfeng, witnessing this scene, was quite curious about how Shasha had managed to persuade her.
However, now was not the time for her to unravel her curiosity; their immediate priority was to deal with the invading Wolf Fleet and then head north towards North Star.
"The Wolf Fleet is now less than a hundred miles from the outer defenses of Yellowstone City. It seems they are preparing to attack," reported an officer in charge of reconnaissance.
Kangkang scoffed, "Do they really think they can break through Yellowstone City with their current strength?"
"I'm more worried about them contacting the external Tao Tie Legion. The ancient Time-Space Station in Earth's orbit has already been turned into their base. With their capabilities, they could open a wormhole at any moment to reinforce their troops," Wei Qi's words plunged everyone into silence. The Tao Tie Legion hung over Earth like the Sword of Damocles, ready to strike at any time. What was most terrifying was the uncertainty of whether they would use nuclear weapons to cleanse the area. If that happened, it would likely lead to the extinction of all life on Earth.
As the group remained silent, Shasha suddenly asked, "How fast can reinforcements from the Tao Tie Legion arrive?"
As an authority on spatial matters, Rosa provided a standard answer, "Once they start constructing a wormhole capable of accommodating an entire fleet, it should take no more than three hours."
"In other words, we must eliminate the Wolf Fleet within three hours?"
This question from Shasha caused an uproar among those present, except for Rosa and Lianfeng.
"How is it possible to deal with the Wolf Fleet in three hours?"
"Our forces are sufficient for defense, but defeating the Wolf Fleet is simply impossible!"
"We should think this through! At worst, we can avoid the Wolf Fleet."
"How do you plan to avoid them? No matter where you hide, they will find you!"
"Silence!" The two words from Lianfeng instantly quieted them down. As the second-in-command, her authority in the military was only slightly less than that of Ducao, but still considerable. "Do you think shouting will lead to any solutions?"
Everyone fell silent under Lianfeng's imposing gaze, as if struck dumb. "Let's first hear what Shasha has to say."
Shasha looked bewildered at the remark. "You want me to? The only way I can do this is to take down the Wolf Fleet within three hours, but it seems like you all lack confidence."
Ignoring Shasha's sarcasm, Lianfeng asked a single question, "Are you confident?"
The crowd cast doubtful glances at Shasha. They couldn't understand why Lianfeng would place hope in him. Although Shasha was part of Xiong Bing Lian, he was merely a mercenary. How could a mere mortal possibly take down those ships made of alloy? After all, even intercontinental missiles struggled to penetrate them!
Among those present, only Rosa and Wei Qi seemed to understand, having witnessed Shasha's strength firsthand.
Shasha couldn't provide a definitive answer to Lianfeng's expectations and could only respond ambiguously, "I suppose I'll give it a try."
Upon hearing this, the crowd grew even more skeptical of Lianfeng's judgment. Why would he entrust the task of stopping the Wolf Fleet to Shasha?
