Chapter 06: Li Gui 0

Lao Luo and my grandfather were both upright individuals who would never do anything against their conscience or commit heinous acts like taking innocent lives. In contrast, those who raise ghosts act entirely contrary to righteous people; they kill innocent individuals to satisfy their need for a loyal ghost that will serve them for eternity. 0

Among those who have gone missing, how many were truly victims of human traffickers? Most were likely killed by the Evil Sorcerer, whose heart is devoid of compassion, to be used in ghost-raising rituals. 0

Under the chilling gaze of the newcomer, I called out into the house, "Fat." 0

Fat sluggishly emerged, his face pale and drenched in sweat. His eyes darted away, refusing to look at the Strange Uncle standing by the counter like a thin bamboo pole. 0

The Strange Uncle looked at Fat, his thin lips curling into a strange smile as he greeted him, "Hi, Fatty." 0

Upon hearing him call out, Fat's face turned to one of sheer terror as he stumbled backward and then bolted away. 0

Why was Fat afraid of this Strange Uncle? I wondered as I glanced between the Strange Uncle and the now-vanished Fat, filled with various speculations and doubts. 0

"Friend, didn't your grandfather tell you he has an old friend named Li Gui?" 0

Li Gui (Evil Spirit) was aptly named; I chuckled inwardly but couldn't express it outwardly. My instincts told me this visitor meant trouble. He claimed to be a friend of my grandfather's, yet I had never heard my grandfather mention him. Fat's reaction and Yin Yin's fear of him raised several questions. 0

Anyone feared by ghosts could not be good. 0

I initially thought I could dismiss this person with a few words, but to my surprise, he rambled on endlessly, dragging my grandfather into the conversation as if he were an old friend. 0

"I'm sorry, I've never heard my grandfather mention..." Just then, Fat reappeared out of nowhere, acting erratically as he grabbed me and ran off, mumbling incoherently. 0

As Fat clutched my arm, Li Gui's gaunt face flashed with a sinister smile. He forcefully pushed aside the barrier and strode directly toward us, asking with a fake smile plastered on his face, "Where is your grandfather? Let him come out; I want to ask him how he raised his descendants who don't even know who I am." 0

Fat was straining to pull me away as he ran. Between breaths, he exclaimed, "Brother Qi, he's an Evil Sorcerer..." 0

"What were you just doing? Making those strange sounds?" 0

Fat grimaced as he clutched his throat and replied, "I wanted to tell you earlier, but all that came out was that 'ahh ahh ahh' sound." 0

I didn't have time to analyze how Fat couldn't make a sound; my mind was a mess. 0

The Evil Sorcerer! My God, when did we provoke the Evil Sorcerer? What should we do? I remembered that I still had Yin Yin's Skull in my backpack, along with that Dao Bottle. I rushed to the inner room, grabbed the Dao Bottle, and opened the back window, preparing to jump. 0

"Great! I love playing hide and seek with friends," Li Gui's voice reached the doorway. Then, with a loud crash, he kicked the door open. 0

At that moment, Fat and I had already jumped out of the back window. 0

I later understood why Fat suddenly made a sound. He had been silenced by Li Gui's Evil Arts, which aimed to prevent him from speaking. 0

In a panic, Fat and I ran towards the hospital with the backpack containing Yin Yin's Skull. 0

We wanted to find Lao Luo and tell him about Li Gui. 0

As we ran, Fat couldn't keep up anymore. We found a hidden spot to rest, and he began to tell me in bits and pieces about his grandfather's feud with Li Gui. 0

His grandfather had gone out on a job while I stayed at the Funeral Home. I knew nothing about their affairs, and because of his grandfather's warnings, Fat hadn't told me what had happened outside. So now, I was completely in the dark, and even Fat didn't understand how Li Gui had come after us. 0

Fat's grandfather had gone to a Funeral that was actually related to Li Gui's enemies; this only became clear after his grandfather returned. 0

Li Gui wanted to kill that family. He cruelly cast an Evil Spirit curse on an elderly couple but was thwarted by Fat's grandfather, who saved them. Therefore, Li Gui held a grudge. On the train back, Li Gui suddenly appeared before Fat's grandfather and pretended to offer him a cigarette. 0

Out of politeness, his grandfather accepted it. He bluntly pointed out that raising ghosts to harm others was an utterly despicable act. 0

Li Gui listened with a pious demeanor and then asked Fat's grandfather for a way to break the curse, swearing to turn over a new leaf while lighting the cigarette in his grandfather's hand. 0

"Did Grandpa smoke?" At this point, I felt nervous; knowing that Li Gui was an Evil Sorcerer, he could easily have tampered with the cigarette to harm Grandpa. 0

Fat nodded. "He did. But actually, it's not the cigarette that's terrifying." 0

"What is it?" 0

"Water." 0

"Ah!" 0

The fat one continued, "Grandpa took a puff of his cigarette and started coughing. Li Gui quickly handed him a cup of water. It was our usual cup, nothing to be wary of, so Grandpa drank it without hesitation." 0

Damn! 0

I was shocked to learn that while Grandpa had gone out of town, he had returned so weak, and there was this part I didn't know about. My nose tinged with bitterness, and tears instantly blurred my vision. I turned my head away and wiped my eyes fiercely. "You have a pig's brain! If Grandpa says no, you can't just sneakily tell me!" 0

"Grandpa is impatient. If anything happened to him, you know Li Gui would definitely seek revenge. With your current abilities, you wouldn't be able to avenge him and would only end up losing your own life." 0

I cursed at the fat one, "Maregebi! So what if he dies? It's better than turning into a coward. What’s Li Gui to me? I'm not afraid of him." 0

The fat one gave me a thumbs up and smiled bitterly. "Brother Qi, you're impressive. Just now, facing him from such a close distance, I thought you were amazing. The first time I saw him, I felt an inexplicable fear; I didn't even dare to approach him from afar." 0

"Coward." I wiped away my tears; it was useless now. Grandpa had fallen victim to Evil Arts and died an untimely death. As his heir, I couldn't take revenge; I could only escape. I couldn't be this cowardly; I had to avenge him. 0

"Brother Qi, if you're hurting, I'm hurting too. Boohoo..." 0

"Stop crying! Get up; we’re going to the hospital to find Lao Luo for ideas." I pulled the fat one up and dashed off. 0

On the way, we saw many people; quite a few noticed us. I didn’t recognize them, but who cared? We headed straight for the hospital. 0

Once inside the hospital, there were nurses, doctors, and patients everywhere; it was packed. It seemed like doctors always had endless patients to see, and patients had illnesses that never seemed to heal—a vicious cycle. I found Lao Luo's ward on the third floor, bed 01. 0

Just as I was about to push the door open, a nurse saw us and asked, "What are you here for?" 0

The fat one spotted a pretty nurse and couldn’t help but flirt regardless of the situation or his mood. When the nurse asked, he smiled and said, "Looking for someone." 0

"Who are you looking for? There’s no one in room 01." 0

"How is that possible? I came here at seven last night and Lao Luo was still around. He even came to help us. I noticed the nurse was quite young and beautiful, dressed in a well-fitted uniform that perfectly accentuated her graceful figure, making her look even more slender and delicate. 0

'No way, he was still here when I arrived last night.' 0

'Are you looking for Luo Deming?' 0

'Yes, yes.' 0

The nurse gave me a deep look and said, 'Follow me.' 0

As I followed the nurse, my phone vibrated, and suddenly it rang loudly, blaring: 'Catching ghosts and demons is my specialty, come on, whether it's Seductive Ghost or any other monsters, I've got them all covered...' 0

I answered the call: 'Run... go find... Qin Ye...' It was Lao Luo's voice. I was taken aback; he was telling us to escape? Who is Qin Ye? 0

'Lao Luo, where are you?' I shouted into the phone, causing both the nurse and the chubby guy to look at me in surprise. Strangely, there was no response on the line." 0
