Chapter 161: Demon Power Ring 0

I sighed and lay back down. 0

Next, I realized I was dreaming, yet I couldn't escape the grip of this nightmare—I walked alone in a dark, oppressive space, feeling a deep sense of sorrow within me. The surroundings were shrouded in shades of black and gray, with black and gray objects and black and gray figures. 0

Everything was enveloped in this somber color scheme. It was a bizarre scene, as if everyone present was participating in a grand funeral, evoking profound sadness. This was a familiar open square where people would come to exercise during their leisure time—some danced, while others practiced calligraphy with large brushes. 0

Beside the square was a tri-fork road, one branch leading west, another east, and the last south. 0

In the corners of Tri-Fork, there were numerous shops, restaurants, and a hotel named after the square. Once bustling with life, this place now felt desolate. As my gaze shifted, I encountered a horrifying sight. 0

Rows of black coffins were neatly lined up where people used to dance. 0

There was no one around; it felt as if the entire world had perished, leaving me as the only living soul confronting these eerie sights and the open coffins. I moved my heavy, stiff legs toward the coffins, my eyes fixated on them, repeatedly convincing myself that this was all an illusion—a mere dream! 0

I approached the first coffin and leaned in to see inside but couldn't make out any details. Instinctively, I reached out to touch what lay within. It felt cold as if a chilling snake had slithered up my fingertips from the bottom of the coffin, sending shivers throughout my body. 0

I trembled as my hand made contact with something icy and vaguely sticky. In a panic, I withdrew my hand and, aided by the dim red light, I was horrified to see that my fingertips were stained with blood. 0

There were no corpses in the coffin—only blood? 0

"Seven... Seven..." 0

Even though I had seen countless dead bodies before, this was my first time experiencing such a bizarre situation firsthand. The intermittent calls sounded like they came from my own mind or perhaps from some monstrous spirit residing in my ears that called out my name. 0

I quietly strained to listen, but the voice faded away. Without the distraction of sound, I leaned in again to look inside the coffin. In the dim red light, I saw something dark and glossy within. 0

Just as I was about to lean in for a closer look, another voice called out: "Seven... Sparrow..." Perhaps trying to grab my attention, it used "Sparrow" instead of "Seven," hoping to provoke me. 0

"Who!" The word escaped my lips before I could think; it felt unsettling even to utter it. I had already seen that I was alone in this world—how could there be another person? In disbelief, I slowly raised my head and turned slightly. 0

Behind me stood someone who had appeared without me noticing. 0

I recognized her—it was Zhou Mengyao. 0

It hadn't been long since we last met, but Zhou Mengyao had gained weight. 0

Especially her belly, which stretched her clothes, making her look very much like that. A mature woman exuded charm, dignified yet graceful, alluring yet enchanting. Seeing her surprised me; I knew this was a dream. Zhou Mengyao had invaded my dreams more than once. 0

"Why are you here?" 0

Zhou Mengyao smiled silently, her hands instinctively caressing her slightly protruding abdomen. That smile and gesture seemed to hint at something. 0

The moment I saw Zhou Mengyao, I couldn't help but recall that night we spent together. An inexplicable pity surged within me, urging me to say, "This is not a place for you." 0

"Qi... I have something to tell you," Zhou Mengyao beckoned me. 0

I ignored her and turned back to the coffin. I was taken aback; the coffin had vanished. Around me, it seemed people were moving about. I saw dancers, sword performers, and even someone practicing calligraphy with a large broomstick. 0

In astonishment, I turned back to Zhou Mengyao. She still stood there, with a half-smile on her face, but there was a hint of sorrow hidden in her brows. 0

This is a dream. I would wake up soon, I told myself as my feet moved towards her against my will. 0

Zhou Mengyao had many men in her life; where there were men, stories would unfold. 0

Among those men was me. With a sense of luck, I thought that the child in her belly had nothing to do with me; it could very well be the offspring of that fierce man. 0

Seeing me approach, Zhou Mengyao smiled sadly, her pale face devoid of color. Was this the complexion every pregnant woman should have? I wasn't a woman and would never have the chance to be pregnant, so I didn't understand these things. 0

A girl becomes a maiden, and a maiden becomes a woman; perhaps all of this is caused by men. 0

Did men create women, or did women shape men? As an idiot in this regard, I truly didn't know. 0

Zhou Mengyao's hand was cold as she eagerly grasped mine and pressed it against her abdomen with a joyful expression. "Qi, he is your child." A jolt of electricity struck my head at her words; I was stunned by what she said. 0

I pulled my hand back at an astonishing speed as if shocked. "How is that possible? We only did it once! How could there be a child? It hasn't been long; your belly must have been like that for several months! The timing doesn't add up!" 0

Please forgive me; it wasn't intentional. 0

I wasn't afraid of taking responsibility but felt that the chance of conceiving from just one encounter was almost nonexistent. I was kindly reminding her not to misremember the date we were together. 0

"Qi, you don't like him?" Zhou Mengyao's expression darkened terrifyingly as she didn't look at me but glared fiercely at her protruding belly. 0

Seeing her like this sent an inexplicable chill down my spine. 0

"I'm... what do you want to do?" 0

Zhou Mengyao looked up, a pained smile blooming on her paper-white face. She gently lifted her shirt, continuing to talk to herself, "Look at him, he looks just like you, with a nose and eyes..." Her belly was enormous, so large it seemed ready to burst, pushing her navel outward. Such a big belly made me realize I had underestimated her allure to men; I must be a foolish scapegoat. She must have been pregnant long before she got involved with me. 0

Haven't you heard? Some women, wanting to pin the blame on someone else, will tighten something around their pregnant belly and pretend to have relations with someone, claiming that person is the father of the child. Thinking of this made me loathe Zhou Mengyao even more. 0

I had been maintaining my composure until Zhou Mengyao's emotions spiraled out of control. I nearly shouted in rage, "He's not mine!" Then I turned and walked away, ignoring her cries no matter how desperately she called out. 0

Her voice was like a spell, gripping my sensitive nerves deeply. "Qi... you don't want him, and I don't want him either..." Then I heard a chilling sound that pierced through the skin, along with the noise of something being pulled from her belly. I turned back to look at her. 0

Her hands were covered in blood, a terrifying smile stretched across her lips, and at her feet lay an unformed mass of flesh. She swayed slightly before slowly collapsing. I screamed, "Sister Zhou... no..." and rushed towards Zhou Mengyao, trembling as I wrapped my arms around her. 0

In my arms, the lifeless Zhou Mengyao suddenly opened her eyes and shouted at me, "Ma Qi, wake up... wake up..." 0
