Chapter 187: Night Escape 0

"You think I don't want to run? The problem is my Corpse is trapped under the willow tree, tangled up so tightly that I can't escape." 0

"Yu, you must wait for me. You have to wait for me." I was overwhelmed with emotion. A frail woman could show such bravery to help me escape; why couldn't I save her just once? I thought that as long as I returned to my body, I would definitely come back to rescue her from her suffering. 0

"Ma Qi, you must help me before the Ghost Gate closes." Yu reluctantly held onto my hand, and after following the horse for quite a distance, she gave the horse's rear a hard slap. 0

The horse neighed and bolted away. I grabbed the reins, pressing my body against the horse's back, feeling the jolts from its frantic gallop. I dared not let my guard down for a moment. I clung tightly to the reins, the cold wind whipping past my ears felt like knives slicing through my flesh, causing me pain. 0

The steed raced forward; we had to reach our destination before dawn. My mind was solely focused on Ma Wu Funeral Home. 0

After running for a while, I lost track of where we were and what time it was. Everything felt hazy, as if I were floating in a dream. 0

I dreamt of Pang, Han Mi, Chi Xinrong, Zhou Mengyao, and a face I had just become familiar with—Yu. 0

Yu was crying. 0

Liu Niang and Lao Guang were furious, striking her mercilessly. Poor Yu rolled on the ground, pleading—no, as soon as I thought of Yu, the horse immediately turned back towards where we had come from. Liu Niang was up to no good; I couldn't think of anything else but Ma Wu Funeral Home. 0

After some time, it seemed I fell asleep again until I heard a loud neighing from the horse. After that sound faded away, a curse followed. 0

"Damn you, Ma Qi! I curse you to die a miserable death." Then Pang emerged from the house. I stared blankly at the horse; it had already turned into a paper figure lying on the ground. The sun rose slowly in the east; feeling uncomfortable under its rays, I hurriedly retreated into the house. 0

As I entered and looked back at Pang, he picked up the paper horse with a frown and then glanced thoughtfully around the room before tossing it aside with a curse: "Damn it! Who threw this paper horse at my doorstep so early in the morning?" 0

I sat across from Pang as he idly reached for a magazine. I quickly ran over to pull it out first; Pang was slow to react and saw the magazine flying in mid-air when he entered. He looked puzzled out the window; the branches outside were still and there was no wind. 0

I was afraid that if I startled him too much, I'd drop the magazine. 0

The magazine fell to the ground, and Fat Noodle exchanged glances with me, hesitant to approach. After waiting for a while without any movement, he finally walked over to pick up the magazine. "Grandpa, don't blame me. Last night, it was that bastard Ma Qi trying to pry open the door to the secret room. Your corpse has undergone some changes, and I’m afraid Zha Shi might do something to it." 0

Li Gui is messing with my grandfather's body? 0

I was terrified and hurried to check the secret room. 0

Sure enough, the secret room had been opened by Li Gui. I rushed in and saw an empty coffin. 0

"Grandpa is missing." 0

I whispered, but Fat couldn't hear me. So I shouted, "Grandpa is missing!" Just as my shout echoed, a loud crash erupted in the room. Seriously? Just that one shout could stir up such a commotion? 0

Fat had already been a bit scared because of the magazine incident, and now seeing things fall from nowhere in the windless room—broken picture frames and a shattered fish tank—was too much. The bowl I used even started bouncing on the spot, making Fat Mama scream and run away. 0

With Fat gone, I was left alone in the house. 0

I went to my bedroom. 0

Now it was a place occupied by Li Gui. I liked keeping things tidy, but my bedroom was a complete mess—stinky socks scattered everywhere, dirty pants hanging haphazardly. No way! I needed to reclaim what was rightfully mine. 0

Fat was outside, still looking around nervously for Li Gui's return. He had always been timid; in my eyes, he was just a coward. 0

I dipped my finger in water and wrote on the glass: "Fat, I'm back. Ma Qi left a message." Then I deliberately picked up a lighter and set a piece of paper on fire. Smoke billowed up, and Fat rushed in to see what was burning. At the same time, he looked up at the words on the counter's glass and became even more anxious, muttering, "What’s with this grand entrance? You didn’t come back all night because you were out chasing girls; you must have gotten someone pregnant." 0

Hearing Fat say that made me worry about Chi Xinrong getting hurt. 0

Not daring to stay another moment, I grabbed the flower umbrella behind the door and ran toward the exit. "Ghost... ghost... ghost!" Fat's trembling scream came from behind me as I headed straight for a car without looking back. 0

The car was parked with its doors closed. 0

It seemed like there were people inside, and I leaned in to take a look, of course, only able to do so under the cover of the Flower Umbrella to shield myself from the sun. This place was nothing like Ten Li Slope; the Yin Qi here was lighter, and there were rarely any people around, so the risk of unexpected harm was minimal. 0

Inside the car, a couple of excited individuals were completely oblivious to the approaching Flower Umbrella. Wow! Witnessing a real-life adult film was even more thrilling than watching a 3D movie; it felt so immersive. The woman was making all sorts of noises, clearly enjoying herself to the point of ecstasy, while the man was energetically doing his thing. Then, with a sudden thrust and a scream that sounded like a flood being released, it was over. 0

Once it was done, the man quickly put on his clothes and stepped out of the car to smoke, while the woman inside meticulously dressed herself again. 0

I recognized the man; wasn't he Hanzi, Zhang's son? 0

Looking at the woman again, she was unfamiliar but strikingly beautiful. 0

Finally, the woman got out of the car fully dressed. Hanzi handed her a few red bills and said, "Call me next time. Don't come looking for me at home; my wife is there." 0

"With your attitude, do you think I want to come to your house? Hmph!" The woman took the money and swayed away with an exaggerated strut. 0

"Bah... filthy woman, selling herself and still being picky," Hanzi muttered as he returned to the car. Seizing the opportunity, I also got in just as he took a deep drag from his cigarette and crushed it between his fingers before tossing it out. He started the car again, preparing to leave. 0

"Hanzi, your father has something to tell you." Damn it, Hanzi ignored me. It dawned on me that he couldn't hear what I said. I glanced at the windshield in front of me and came up with an idea. Using some water from my cup, I dipped my fingertip in it and wrote on the windshield: Hanzi, your father sends his regards. 0

Seeing those words startled Hanzi; he frantically looked around and caught sight of the Ma Wu Funeral Home sign in the rearview mirror. Then he did something unexpected—he got out of the car and headed straight for Ma Wu Funeral Home. 0

The fat guy was on the phone. 0

Watching him talk on the phone reminded me of my own phone; I recalled that I had left it at Monkey Spirit's place. 0

"Fatty, is Ma Qi around?" 0

"He's still not back from last night." 0

"Oh. That son of a bitch wrote something scary on my car window." 0

"Where?" 0

"Are you stupid? Didn't you hear what I said? It's on the car, I'll take you to see." The fat man seemed a bit intimidated by Hanzi's fierce demeanor; even being called a pig didn't faze him as he obediently agreed to go take a look. 0

Hanzi led the fat man to his car while I remained seated. 0

The fat man saw the writing on the windshield and muttered to himself, "This is really strange. Early this morning, a paper horse fell at my doorstep, and last night I dreamt of two Ma Qi. Now there's this weird writing on the glass." 0

Hanzi was left speechless in shock. 0

The fat man sniffed and continued, "And there's something even weirder. That magazine of mine was secretly hidden away; Ma Qi had no idea. Just now, it flew out by itself and landed right in front of me." 0
