Originally, she just wanted to provoke Ye Chenfeng, but she didn't expect that some parts of the book and movie contained inappropriate scenes. Ding Li felt her face flush and her heart race, while Ma Xingsheng was so excited he seemed to be on a high, alternating between screaming and grabbing her hand to kiss her.
Ding Li kept wiping her hands, feeling disgusted as Ma Xingsheng left her with saliva all over.
What was even more infuriating was that he had the audacity to hug her and start making advances.
Fuming, Ding Li stood up abruptly, ready to walk out.
Ma Xingsheng wouldn’t let her go easily; he pulled her back into his embrace, saying lewd things: “Come on, don’t act innocent. Who doesn’t know you’ve already slept with Ye Chenfeng? What’s the difference if I do it too? Maybe my skills in bed are better than his; I’ll make you feel amazing.”
Saying this, he didn’t care whether Ding Li agreed or not, leaning in to plant a forceful kiss on her cheek.
“Damn it, you pervert,” Ding Li pushed him away and struggled to free herself from his grip.
Someone saw what was happening and came to help Ding Li.
Ma Xingsheng shouted angrily, “Mind your own business! I’m just playing around with my girl; what’s it to you?” Hearing this, the onlookers decided not to intervene, turning a blind eye to them.
“I’m not your girl; you’re just a scoundrel,” Ding Li’s struggles and protests sounded weak and futile.
No one paid attention to her because many had seen her willingly come to this cinema with Ma Xingsheng.
Seeing that no one was stepping in to help Ding Li, Ma Xingsheng grew bolder. He tightly held both of her hands with one hand while the other groped her chest. With a lewd grin, he said, “Hey, nice goods.” Then he attempted to push her down onto the chair.
Ding Li was furious. Unable to break free, she decided to bite his hand. She felt her teeth sink into his skin and tasted a hint of blood. Ma Xingsheng howled like a pig being slaughtered and punched her in the head.
Ding Li felt dizzy from the blow but clung tightly to his hand. With a sharp tug, she bit off a piece of flesh, causing Ma Xingsheng to scream in pain. Seizing the opportunity, she made a run for it.
The cinema seats were tightly packed, and she stumbled her way down the aisle, finally reaching the corridor where Ma Xingsheng was. He was holding his bleeding hand, shouting, "Catch her! That damn bitch dared to bite me!"
The movie was at its climax, and the audience yelled at him to shut up, pelting him with sunflower seed shells.
Without any help, Ma Xingsheng was in agony, his hand throbbing as blood continued to flow.
Ding Li dashed out of the corridor, not daring to linger, and immediately hailed a taxi outside the cinema, heading straight for Purple City University.
Ye Chenfeng was puzzled. It had been two hours since Ding Li left, and he wondered if she might get lost in an unfamiliar place. Feeling uneasy, he stepped out of the dormitory to look around. The campus was bustling with night owls—couples strolling, heading to arcades, or going off together to book a room.
Occasionally, Ye Chenfeng thought about renting a place outside so that he and Ding Li could be together freely. But the thought of asking his family for money quickly dashed that idea. He resolved to wait until next year when Ding Li found a job; then he could work a couple of part-time jobs to afford a rental.
Still feeling anxious, Ye Chenfeng decided to call Ding Li.
When the call connected, Ding Li said she was on her way back and asked him to wait at the entrance.
Before Ding Li returned, however, Ma Xingsheng arrived at the school first. From his car, he spotted Ye Chenfeng loitering at the gate as if waiting for someone.
It’s worth mentioning that Ding Li, not being a student at Purple City University, was unfamiliar with taxi fares. As soon as she got in the cab, she was deceived and taken on a long detour that cost her several extra dollars. She later regretted her impulsive decision when she told Ye Chenfeng about it.
Upon seeing Ye Chenfeng, Ma Xingsheng jumped out of the car and rushed toward him, cursing loudly, "Damn it! Your girl is like a dog! Look what that bitch did to my hand!" He pulled back his sleeve to reveal a bloody mess.
Seeing this scene shocked Ye Chenfeng. "What happened? You must have mistaken her for someone else; my girlfriend would never bite you!"
"It's her! That bitch! I’d recognize her even if she turned to ashes!"
"Who the hell are you cursing at?" Ye Chenfeng's face darkened, and in a fit of anger, he punched Ma Xingsheng, who was a head taller than him, right in the chest. The blow was solid enough to make Ma stagger back several steps before he regained his balance.
"How dare you! Your girlfriend is a bitch, and you still protect her? You think you can hit me and get away with it? This isn't over!" Ma Xingsheng, ignoring the pain in his hand, grabbed Ye Chenfeng and they began to grapple, exchanging punches without a clear winner.
In short, Ye Chenfeng was covered in blood.
Before long, a crowd of students had gathered around them.
Some were jeering, while others cheered them on.
There were even a few self-appointed referees showing off their rhetoric, one moment declaring that Ye Chenfeng had the upper hand, and the next criticizing Ma Xingsheng for lacking power in his hooks.
However, Ye Chenfeng sensed that things were turning against him; the blood on him was Ma Xingsheng's.
Ma Xingsheng's hand was bleeding profusely from a wound on the back of his hand.
Seeing this, Ye Chenfeng quickly stopped and urged, "Go take care of that wound. We can settle this later."
"Forget it!" Ma Xingsheng refused to back down and threw another punch at Ye Chenfeng.
This punch left Ye Chenfeng's mouth numb.
"Come on! Don't be a coward; why are you afraid? Go all out!"
The onlookers relished the chaos, eager for more excitement as they egged the two on to continue their fight.
Ye Chenfeng was furious. He swung a punch, driving his elbow hard into Ma Xingsheng, who stumbled and fell to the ground.
Blood flowed more profusely from the back of Ma Xingsheng's hand.
Seeing this, Ye Chenfeng quickly urged, "Hurry up and take care of your wound."
Ma Xingsheng grinned defiantly. Taking advantage of Ye Chenfeng's momentary distraction while he was helping him up, he threw a heavy punch that landed squarely on Ye Chenfeng's waist.
Ye Chenfeng felt a sharp pain in his side from the blow, causing him to loosen his grip and release Ma Xingsheng. He curled up on the ground and lay there for a long time without getting back up.
The volunteer referee continued counting: "One, two, three, four..."
At that moment, several people rushed out from the school. Among them were Qin Keqing and Su Bei. Upon seeing Ye Chenfeng knocked down and realizing it was Ma Xingsheng who had done it, they charged at him in a fury and kicked out.
Ma Xingsheng never expected that Ye Chenfeng would have backup. The kick came without warning, catching him completely off guard. He fell backward in an awkward sprawl and landed on the ground without getting back up.
Someone gasped, pointing out that where Ma Xingsheng fell, there was a sharp stone protruding about an inch above the ground. Unfortunately for Ma Xingsheng, when he fell, the back of his head made intimate contact with the sharp rock.
He sustained an injury to the back of his head and began to bleed.
Ma Xingsheng did not get up; he lay there like a corpse. This scene shocked the onlookers as well as Ye Chenfeng, Su Bei, and Qin Keqing.
Could it be that he had killed him?
They exchanged worried glances, and someone called for an ambulance. The paramedics arrived with sirens blaring. After examining him, they reported that Ma Xingsheng had only suffered a brief fainting spell and was not in immediate danger. The biggest issue was that a piece of flesh from the back of his hand was missing and bleeding profusely.
Ma Xingsheng was taken away by the ambulance, and the school officials hurried over. After understanding the situation, they punished Ye Chenfeng, Qin Keqing, and others to wait at the Academic Affairs Office for further processing.
At that moment, Ding Li's taxi finally arrived at the school.
She got out of the car and saw Ye Chenfeng, Qin Keqing, and Su Bei being called away. Feeling wronged, she shouted, "Ye Chenfeng!" and rushed into his arms, starting to cry.
"Sister-in-law, why are you crying? Do you even realize you caused trouble?" Su Bei said with a frown, clearly annoyed by her dramatics.
"I caused trouble? What trouble?" Ding Li had not seen the blood on the ground and was unaware of what had happened at the school gate half an hour earlier.
"Tell me where you just went. Be honest; this is important to me," Ye Chenfeng said seriously, trying to suppress the pain in his waist.
Ding Li hesitated. She looked at the teacher, the other onlookers, and then at Su Bei and Qin Keqing. Finally, she lowered her head and quietly mumbled, almost like a mosquito's buzz, "I... was at the cinema with Ma Xingsheng..."
Ye Chenfeng couldn't believe her words. He was stunned as if struck by lightning, standing there like a wooden chicken.
Su Bei shook his head in dismay, unsure of what to say. After a moment of thought, he said, "Sister-in-law, you're really something. Fine, I won't say anything more. Let's go! We share blessings and hardships together; I'll accompany you to the Academic Affairs Office."
Qin Keqing was so furious that her veins were popping out; she wished she could punch Ding Li for being such a troublemaker.
Seeing that Ye Chenfeng said nothing and showed no intention of comforting her, Ding Li mistakenly thought he cared about her being with Ma Xingsheng. Angrily, she exclaimed, "All you do is read books! You don't even want to spend time with me! I just went out to clear my mind and ended up with Ma Xingsheng. He invited me to watch a movie, and then... he acted inappropriately in the cinema..."
"Stop talking."
"I want to talk! Why can't I say it? You..."
Ye Chenfeng raised his hand and slapped Ding Li across the face, stopping her from continuing. "If you think I've neglected you or treated you poorly, then please consider whether you want to continue with me."
Ding Li stood there in shock, covering her bruised face. As Ye Chenfeng spoke, tears streamed down her cheeks, and she cried uncontrollably.
Qin Keqing couldn't bear to watch any longer and finally spoke up to advise Ye Chenfeng. "Ye Chenfeng, stop it. She's a woman; women tend to be sensitive and calculating. Don't stoop to her level."
Ding Li stood dumbfounded, enduring the strange looks and whispers from all around her.
Ye Chenfeng didn't pause, walking alongside Qin Keqing toward the administrative office.
Su Bei couldn't leave; he was worried about Ding Li. Besides, they were just a couple having a fight. Maybe in a little while, that brat Ye Chenfeng would turn back to find her.
People can say anything when they open their mouths, but as long as you have strong mental resilience, you can face it bravely.
Ding Li couldn't handle the various criticisms—
"What a joke! Ye Chenfeng looks pretty cool; he was so awesome in that fight. I like this kind of passionate guy."
"Look at her; she’s just some country girl dressed poorly, trying to act all coy. Pfft, playing both sides—what's that worth?"
"Ah, poor Ma Xingsheng—bitten by a bitch and still getting hit."
"No... it's not like that..." Ding Li wanted to defend herself, but the others turned cold shoulders to her, ignoring her completely. Soon everyone dispersed, leaving only Su Bei to stay by her side.
