Ziya inspected the terrain here one by one. There was a small storage room and this large two-hundred-square-meter one. It was impossible to move so many plants into the storage at once. Suddenly, she had an idea and said, "Aunt Li, Sun Meng and I have been temporarily assigned to assist you in counting the potted plants. Can we start from the 16th floor and check them one by one?" 0

As Ziya watched Li Mingxiang walk away, she quickly took out her phone and handed it to Sun Meng. "Call him and see what he found out." 0
 
"Come on, no matter how stingy I am, I wouldn't care about this little expense!" Sun Meng shot a sideways glance at her, then pulled out her phone and gestured for Ziya to watch for anyone approaching. She stepped aside into a spot where the camera couldn't see her and quickly dialed Liang Chao's number, relaying everything happening here to him... 0
 
"What did he say?" Ziya asked impatiently as Sun Meng hung up. 0
 
"Strangely enough, he said that signal is coming from within the building..." Sun Meng replied, her almond-shaped eyes widening in surprise as she spoke in a low voice. 0
 
"What about the others? Does the police department have any news?" Ziya pressed as they entered the elevator. 0
 
"When did you think I had switched places with you? How could we possibly gather information from that place? As law-abiding citizens, we can only provide useful and valuable leads to the police for free. When would they ever voluntarily tell us what's going on?" 0
 
 
“Damn! Are you serious? We're in the elevator that Fat Sister used before she died…” Ziya muttered to herself, glancing at the red walls of the elevator. The display flickered with Arabic numerals, counting up: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14… The elevator suddenly came to a halt again, sending a chill down Ziya and Sun Meng's spines. 0
 
After a few seconds of stillness, the elevator doors opened automatically, and a rush of cold air hit them, accompanied by a strange odor. “Achoo…!” Ziya sneezed unexpectedly, startling Sun Meng, who had been intently watching the corridor marked 14. 0
 
“Hey, you should at least give me a heads up before you sneeze! You scared me… damn…” Sun Meng said, feeling a shiver run down her spine as she reproached her friend. 0
 
“Sorry,” Ziya replied apologetically. “How about we go take a look?” She suggested as she noticed Sun Meng frowning nervously at the dark corridor ahead. 0
 
“Fine, let’s go. Didn’t you say they all saw something on this floor?” 0
 
“Yeah, not just them; I saw it with my own eyes too,” Ziya affirmed. Her palms were already sweaty as she swallowed hard, trying to suppress the fear creeping up inside her. 0
 
“Isn’t the Black Room just like this? At least there are lights in the elevator. You can only see the light from the balcony at the end of the corridor. Look at this place; it seems to hide a secret tunnel or something…” Sun Meng rambled on loudly, trying to dispel her own fear with chatter. 0
 
The plants lining the corridor on the 14th floor were untouched at the doors of those small rooms. Even beside the corner staircase were two pots left behind; it seemed that there were far more plants on this floor compared to others. 0
 
“Strange, why are there so many plants here?” Ziya questioned. 0
 
“I think it’s because the landscaping staff got lazy. They brought in too many plants and didn’t know how to distribute them. They figured no one would notice this floor since it’s usually empty, so they just left them here to become permanently unmanaged plants.” 0
 
As they talked, Ziya suddenly felt something was off—a faint sigh and the sound of rustling from somewhere along the side of the corridor reached her ears. 0
 
“Did you hear that…?” Ziya’s face turned pale as she trembled and tugged at Sun Meng’s shirt, whispering her question. 0
 
 
"I heard it. I just want to see what it is," Sun Meng whispered as she tiptoed toward the source of the sound, her heart racing. After all, she had confidently assured someone that everything was under her control and insisted that there were no ghosts here. If there really were, she'd have to watch her words around that person in the future. 0
 
With that thought in mind, she felt an even stronger urge to figure out where the sound was coming from. Typically, there was a platform at the bottom of every stairwell. The platform on the 14th floor connected to the 13th floor, but it seemed like the 13th floor was sealed off. This meant that the stairwell on the 14th floor was just a closed-off space with no access from above or below. The chances of someone coming down from the 13th floor were slim, and it was even less likely for anyone from the 15th floor to be messing around on the 14th. 0
 
The two of them held their breath, nervously gripping each other's sweaty hands as they moved closer to the source of the noise. With each step, the rustling sound grew louder. "It's fine, it must be nothing..." Sun Meng silently prayed; she didn't want to experience any more terrifying scenes. Ziya could clearly feel Sun Meng trembling through their clasped hands. Sun Meng's body felt weak and soft; she had initially thought that if she could just see whatever it was, it would prove that Fat Sister's death was caused by a ghost, clearing one person's name in the process. 0
 
"You’re scared too, so why don’t we just not go?" Ziya suggested, knowing that Sun Meng was actually more afraid of these legends and the countless things she had seen with her own eyes. 0
 
"No, we’ll see it soon," Sun Meng replied, taking a deep breath to stifle her nervousness and pretending to be indifferent. 0
 
Just as they were about to reach the source of the sound, it suddenly stopped, replaced by a series of thumping noises. Ziya listened closely in confusion; how could that sound be coming from Sun Meng? 0
 
"Your heartbeat is way too loud! You're sweating!" Ziya exclaimed as she pressed against Sun Meng and felt her chest pounding heavily. It was clear that her heart rate had spiked due to anxiety. Just then, the previous rustling transformed into a chaotic sound of someone running frantically, as if they had bumped into something while in a panic. 0
