Severe Cold furrowed his brow in deep thought, wiping the beads of sweat from his forehead. "Shall we go check on Dog Wazi again? It seems like his family is out in the fields. Let's go ask him to hand over that money." After a brief rest, his mind felt much clearer, and the desire to get money for food constantly tempted the three of them. 0

At this moment, Severe Cold voiced what the other two were thinking, and they both readily agreed. Xiao Mingzi wasn't even sure if he had really seen something on the bed earlier, but the three mischievous boys made their way back to Dog Wazi's doorstep. 0

Dog Wazi's home served as a storage room for grain and other items during the early harvest. Now that everyone was busy tending to their own fields, the storage room had become useless. The team leader had decided to auction it off for a thousand yuan. This storage room, also known as a warehouse, was typically filled with harvested grain and some dried herbs; anything that wasn't dried would spoil due to moisture. 0

Dog Wazi's family was in poor economic condition, yet despite this, his parents had gone through great lengths to have him, even risking fines. Most villagers had renovated their homes, but Dog Wazi's house still leaked in heavy rain and drizzles alike. Because of this, the team leader auctioned off the storage room at a low price of one thousand yuan with the villagers' approval. Although it was meant to be a favor, it followed proper procedures, and in the end, no one dared to complain. One shouldn't underestimate this storage room; it was more spacious than many homes. 0

The entrance of the storage room faced west, making Dog Wazi's family the only ones in the village with a door opening in that direction. When Severe Cold and his friends arrived at the door, they hesitated to enter. Just moments ago, Erwa had been boasting about going inside but now hid behind Xiao Mingzi, peeking cautiously into the yard. 0

"Come on, let's go in! What’s the point of standing here?" Severe Cold said as he boldly stepped inside, while the other two hesitantly followed him on tiptoe. 0

As they pushed open the creaking door, darkness enveloped them; there was no light inside. "Were the curtains open or closed when we came in?" Severe Cold whispered. 0

"They... they were open, right? It wasn't this dark before," Erwa stammered, instinctively clutching Severe Cold's arm. 0

"Get off me! Damn it, stop acting like a girl," Severe Cold said disdainfully as he shook off Erwa's grip. Turning around, he realized Xiao Mingzi hadn’t followed them inside. 0

"Where’s Xiao Mingzi?" 0

"Damn it..." Erwa finally noticed that Xiao Mingzi was missing. He muttered under his breath before continuing toward Dog Wazi's bed with Severe Cold. They both wanted to turn on the light in the room but had no idea where the switch was! 0

"Damn it, pull back the curtains," Severe Cold said as he walked over to the window that let in a faint glimmer of light from outside. This window had been newly made after Dog Wazi's family moved in and was covered by a piece of delicate floral fabric that blocked most of the limited light coming through. 0

Erwa was also helping Severe Cold to pull open the curtains. As a cloud of dust swirled around, the curtains were drawn back by the two of them. Both Severe Cold and Erwa were trying hard to calm themselves, suppressing the fear that was rising within them, completely oblivious to where Dog Wazi was sleeping behind them. 0

Just as the curtains were pulled open, Dog Wazi, lying on the bed, suddenly sat up straight… for no apparent reason. 0

Startled, Erwa's legs went weak, and he actually lost control of his bladder. A sound of splashing followed by a strong smell of urine filled the air… Erwa's mouth trembled, but he couldn't scream. 0

Severe Cold was also momentarily stunned by the shock, but he wasn't scared enough to wet himself like Erwa. He sniffed the air and was about to curse when… 0

In just a few seconds, before Severe Cold and Erwa could run out, Dog Wazi, who had sat up, suddenly fell back onto the bed with a thud. 0

"Oh my god…" Erwa finally managed to stutter out loud, then he bolted away in a panic. His fear quickly spread to Severe Cold, who was also shaken up; both of them ran out without looking back. 0

"What are you two little brats doing in our house?" Dog Wazi's sister, Chun Ni, came home to cook and happened to see Severe Cold and Erwa rushing out of her brother's bedroom. She stopped them and asked loudly. 0

Caught off guard by her sudden appearance, Severe Cold and Erwa immediately halted their frantic escape. Wiping the sweat from their faces, they pointed at Dog Wazi's room and exclaimed, "There's a ghost in your house." 0

"Your house has ghosts! Nonsense!" Chun Ni observed that they weren't carrying anything and noticed how hot they looked, as if steam was rising from their heads; even their hair seemed to be standing on end. It struck her as quite funny. She continued, "My brother has been asleep for almost a whole Sunday because of you little troublemakers. Now tell me where you went that day!" 0

As Chun Ni spoke, Severe Cold scrutinized her with a curious gaze and subtly tugged at Erwa beside him as if hinting at something. 0

"What are you two up to? Speak up." 0

Under Severe Cold's prompting, Erwa finally realized that Chun Ni was wearing clothes they had taken from the female corpse they encountered. A sudden shock surged through him. 0

“Chun Ni, the clothes you're wearing were taken from a corpse…” 0

“Shut up, get lost…” The words made Chun Ni's heart skip a beat, her face turned pale. She shouted at the two of them to let go and hurriedly ran into the house, trembling as she quickly took off the clothes and threw them on the ground. From the window, she saw two children running out of the yard, and only then did she pick up the clothes from the floor and put them in a plastic bag, preparing to throw them away. 0

Chun Ni felt that things were not that simple. Although Dog Wazi didn't have a fever, he had been unconscious for several days. Hearing about Severe Cold made her extremely anxious; there was no time to cook as she rushed to where her parents were working. 0

At that moment, the fields were bustling with activity. Planting Chuanxiong (a medicinal herb) was their main source of income. Most families were busy digging up Chuanxiong in preparation for harvesting rice, which was typical during the rural double harvest season. If it weren't for this, Dog Wazi wouldn't have been overlooked while sleeping for several days. In rural areas, the common practice is to sleep off discomfort; after a good rest, one usually feels better. Besides, Dog Wazi had already broken his fever; as long as he rested a bit more, he would be fine. The doctor at the health station, Dr. Xiao Zhang, had also checked on him several times and said there was nothing serious—just rest for a few days and he would recover. Since the doctor said so, what was there to worry about? 0

Chun Ni shouted for her parents to come home, and only then did they gather around Dog Wazi, carefully assessing the seriousness of the situation. 0

“Erwa said… those clothes were taken from Water Stick's body,” Chun Ni thought about how she had been wearing those clothes for several days and felt a wave of fear wash over her. 0

“What are you afraid of? Have you forgotten that someone in our town even washes and sells clothes taken from corpses in nearby towns?” Dog Boy's Father took a puff of Yeziyan and exhaled a cloud of acrid blue smoke before reaching under Dog Wazi's blanket to feel him. 0

“Should we go ask for help from the Underworld?” Sun Guiying said anxiously as she looked at her husband. 0
