Ziya watched as the two held hands tightly, wondering to herself, what are they doing? 0

"Cough... cough..." Their actions surprised Sun Meng as well. After she let out a soft cough, Liang Chao quickly released Severe Cold's hand. 0

"Not feeling well?" Liang Chao asked with concern as he stepped forward. Sun Meng shook her head, a faint bitter smile flashing across her face. She knew that Liang Chao still had feelings for Ziya, so why should she keep thinking about him? 0

Ziya gestured for Severe Cold to step outside, leaving the space for the two of them. 0

"When do you plan to return to City A?" As they slowly walked out of the hospital room and into the corridor, Severe Cold raised a hand to touch her brow and quietly asked Ziya. 0

"Sun Meng's condition has improved, so we'll head back soon. Ah! We've been here too long." Ziya sighed lightly and casually tapped the curved nurse's station at the end of the corridor. The nurse sitting behind the counter thought Ziya needed something upon hearing the sound and quickly stood up, looking at Ziya with an inquiring gaze. 0

"Excuse me? Is there something you need?" 0

"Uh, sorry, nothing. I'm fine!" Ziya nodded at her with an apologetic smile and hurriedly walked away. 0

"Well then, is Liang Chao Sun Meng's boyfriend?" Severe Cold seemed to gather a lot of courage before asking. 0

"He used to be; now he isn't," Ziya said, lowering her head sadly. After speaking, she fixed her gaze ahead. A child was slowly moving forward with their mother's support, tentatively taking steps. The child's leg was bound with a splint, looking quite serious. 0

"What do you mean?" Severe Cold didn't sense any displeasure from Ziya's expression and continued to probe. 0

"Severe Cold, I think we're friends, but we shouldn't pry into their private matters! Is it really necessary to dig so deeply? Everyone has their own secrets, don't you agree?" 0

A single remark from Severe Cold left both of them in silence for a long while, only the sound of footsteps crunching on the ground could be heard. Occasionally, one or two people would pass by, and they would mechanically step aside. 0

The clear sky always brought a refreshing feeling. Upon leaving the hospital, the air seemed much fresher. The entrance was bustling with noise—cars coming and going, voices mingling with honks, street vendors calling out, and children crying—all creating a vivid tapestry of commotion. 0

As they looked at the various shops lining the roadside, their eyes were drawn to a small food stall across the street, where enticing aromas wafted through the air. Severe Cold let out a heavy sigh, his handsome face slightly furrowed as he crossed his arms and walked over to a Ficus Microcarpa tree on the right side of the hospital entrance. 0

"What's wrong? Are you unhappy again? Did my earlier words upset you?" Ziya circled around to the left side of the Ficus Microcarpa while Severe Cold stood on the right, effectively enclosing the tree between them. 0

"Pfft! Am I really that petty? If I can't even handle this little bit of tolerance, how could I possibly win you over as my future wife? It's just that guy earlier held my hand too tightly. Luckily, I've trained a bit in the army; otherwise, he might have broken my hand," Severe Cold said, extending his finger to playfully tug at Ziya's hair while a faint smile crept onto his lips. 0

Hearing Severe Cold's words made Ziya want to laugh suddenly, but she held back her amusement and instead managed a subtle smile as she changed the subject. "You know when you blow into a conch shell and hold it to your ear? Why does it echo?" 0

"That's because the conch has left the sea, and the sea is calling it back," Severe Cold replied, narrowing his eyes thoughtfully as he looked at Ziya. He then asked curiously, "What made you think of conchs?" 0

"I just thought of it and asked casually. But your answer is quite good—poetic and fitting. How about we go for a stroll?" Ziya smiled brightly, nodding in quiet approval at Severe Cold. 0

As she spoke, Ziya stepped toward a nearby shop. Severe Cold immediately followed her inside. The store was filled with various decorative items; it was crowded not because of customers but because its products cluttered every corner. At first glance, shelves surrounded them, and colorful trinkets hung from above in disarray. The counters displayed numerous fragrant items meant for car interiors. 0

Ziya's eyes landed on a Wishing Well Pendant adorned with golden threads and jade, featuring two small figures that were exquisitely crafted. The cheerful shopkeeper approached them to inquire if she liked it. Without haggling, Ziya silently nodded in satisfaction and handed it to Severe Cold beside her. 0

"Uh, I already have one of these in my car; aren't you being a bit extravagant?" Severe Cold declined politely, hoping Ziya would reconsider her purchase. The shopkeeper frowned at this. 0

"So you’re just here to mess around? We agreed on a price; backing out now isn’t fair!" This left Ziya momentarily confused—what was going on with Severe Cold… 0

"That's not it, boss! I never said I didn't want it! Just get it ready, and I'll pay right away." Severe Cold glared at the shopkeeper, feeling frustrated at the sight of such an item being sold for a hundred bucks. Wasn't that just a scam? 0

After paying, the two walked out of the store in silence. Ziya was a bit irritated, her footsteps quick and light. Severe Cold followed helplessly behind, wanting to tell her that the item wasn't worth much, but seeing Ziya looking so angry made it hard to explain. 0

"You’re being too stubborn. Is it really necessary? If you don’t want it... I’ll keep it for my dad," Ziya said as she turned to Severe Cold. Then she added, "You should go back! Sun Meng is with me; you can focus on your work." 0

Severe Cold was taken aback; he hadn’t expected Ziya to be so quick-tempered. But out of a sense of pride, he had to respond accordingly. As soon as Ziya finished speaking, he stopped in his tracks, sighed heavily, and absentmindedly scratched his head. 0

"Alright! I won’t go in. Just tell Sun Meng I said hi. But if you need anything, call me, and I’ll come right away." 0

Ziya felt dizzy; how could he be so dense? She had only spoken out of frustration earlier, and now he really wasn’t going in. She wanted to keep him there but couldn’t bring herself to say it. The words she wanted to express were completely different from what came out. 0

"Fine! Let’s leave it at that." A wave of disappointment washed over her, suddenly draining her energy. She felt too weary to move her feet and slowly turned away, her footsteps echoing rhythmically in the corridor. She hurried away without even glancing back at Severe Cold as he waved goodbye. He furrowed his brows, thinking to himself: perhaps it's easy to meet someone but difficult to get along with them. 0

Ziya forced herself not to look back as she reached Sun Meng's hospital room door. She maintained her resolve not to turn around, her proud and cold heart held high as she walked down the hospital corridor. When she finally glanced back, Severe Cold was already nowhere in sight. The scene felt like it had just happened; it seemed as if he was still by her side, yet the distance between them slipped away unnoticed through her fingers. He was gone... would he come back? Or was this just an excuse to see Sun Meng and talk to her? 0
