I took a deep breath, trying to suppress the anger boiling inside me. "You can leave now," I waved my hand, signaling the secretary to exit. She nodded gently and turned to leave the study, closing the door softly behind her. 0

The room fell silent once more, interrupted only by the occasional honking of cars from outside. 0

The relationship between Li Ming and the Zhou family only deepened my conviction that there was more to my daughter's death than met the eye. 0

The autopsy report was likely a part of their scheme. 0

"Ding ding—" The notification sound from my phone broke my train of thought. I picked it up to find a message from the secretary: she had discovered that Li Ming and Mr. Zhou had worked together at the same hospital for five years and were quite close, often socializing together. Furthermore, she found out that Li Ming and Mr. Zhou had a private meeting the day before the autopsy report on Duo Duo was released, at an upscale private club. 0

My heart sank as I read the message. It seemed my suspicions were correct; Li Ming was indeed involved in something shady. 0

I quickly replied to the secretary: "Continue your investigation. I want to know what they discussed at the club and whether there were any exchanges of benefits between them." After sending the message, I tossed my phone onto the desk and walked over to the window, gazing out at the flickering neon lights, lost in thought. 0

The next morning, I drove to Duo Duo's former psychological clinic. 0

The clinic was located in a tall building in the city center, with an elegant environment that was quiet and comfortable. I had made an appointment with Duo Duo's primary doctor, a middle-aged woman named Dr. Wang. 0

"Ms. Su, please have a seat," Dr. Wang said as she stood up and gestured for me to sit on the sofa opposite her. 0

She wore a white doctor's uniform, her face adorned with a gentle smile that exuded warmth. 0

“Dr. Wang, I want to understand Duo Duo's situation,” I said straightforwardly, my voice slightly hoarse. 0

Dr. Wang nodded and opened the case file in her hands, examining it closely. “Duo Duo is a lovely child, very smart, but…” She paused, seeming hesitant. 0

“But what?” I pressed, my heart beginning to race. 0

“It's just that she seems to have some psychological shadows; she often has nightmares.” Dr. Wang looked up at me. “She mentioned dreaming of being chased by a dark figure in kindergarten, and it frightens her.” 0

“A dark figure?” I frowned, a sinking feeling in my chest. Duo Duo's nightmares seemed to hint at someone else being involved in this matter at the kindergarten. 0

“Yes, every time she talks about this dark figure, she becomes extremely terrified,” Dr. Wang nodded. “I once suggested she draw what the figure looks like, but she couldn't do it at all; she just kept crying.” 0

My breathing quickened as an ominous premonition washed over me. Kindergarten, dark figure… these clues seemed to point toward a terrifying truth. 0

“Thank you, Dr. Wang,” I said as I stood up to express my gratitude. 0

“You're welcome, Ms. Su. If you have any more questions, feel free to contact me anytime,” Dr. Wang also stood up and escorted me to the door. 0

As I stepped out of the clinic, I looked up at the sky; the sunlight was blinding but could not penetrate the coldness in my heart. 0

I took out my phone and dialed my secretary's number. “Arrange it immediately; I need to visit Duo Duo's kindergarten.” My tone was firm and left no room for doubt. 0
