Fei Wan's premonition was indeed correct.
The next evening, we returned to the abandoned factory.
This time, we brought flashlights and some tools.
"Are you sure it will come back?" Fei Wan asked me.
I nodded.
"It definitely will."
My intuition told me that there was some connection between Xiao Hui and my parents.
I had to find it and unravel this mystery.
The factory was filled with a damp, decaying smell that was nauseating.
The beam of the flashlight flickered in the darkness, illuminating the mottled walls and broken machinery.
"Be careful."
I reminded Fei Wan.
"Mm."
She responded softly.
We walked cautiously, our footsteps echoing in the silent factory.
Suddenly, I felt a strange surge of energy.
I turned around sharply.
Xiao Hui was standing right behind us.
The golden light on its body had vanished, replaced by a faint gray glow.
"Xiao Hui!"
I called out.
It glanced at me before moving in front of Fei Wan, nudging her hand with its head.
Fei Wan paused for a moment, then reached out to gently stroke its head.
"It seems to really like you," I said.
Fei Wan smiled.
"Maybe I have a familiar scent to it," she paused and looked at me.
"Liu Buqi, I've noticed something strange."
"What is it?" I asked immediately.
"Last night, when I got back, I found that the plants in my room had grown unusually fast."
"Plants?" I was puzzled.
"Yes, I have a cactus that usually grows only one centimeter a month, but last night, it grew five centimeters!"
I was taken aback.
Could it be...?
"I suspect that Xiao Hui's ability is to control the growth of plants," Fei Wan voiced my thoughts.
I took a deep breath.
If that's true, then Xiao Hui's power is terrifying.
If it can manipulate plants, could it also control humans?
"We need to figure out its abilities," I said.
"But how do we do that?" Fei Wan asked me.
I pondered for a moment.
"We can try to harness its power."
"Harness?"
Fei Wan looked puzzled.
"Yes, we can use some plants to test its abilities."
Fei Wan thought for a moment and found it feasible.
We began searching for plants in the factory.
Soon, we discovered a withered vine in a corner.
"Let's use this one."
I said.
Fei Wan nodded and approached the vine, extending her hand to gently stroke its leaves.
Xiao Hui also came over, watching Fei Wan with curiosity.
Suddenly, the vine began to tremble violently.
Its leaves began to turn green, and the withered branches became plump.
Fei Wan stared in astonishment at the scene, unable to believe her eyes.
Xiao Hui's ability could actually control plant growth!
I felt a surge of joy; it seemed my guess was correct.
But just then, an unexpected event occurred.
The vines grew wildly, wrapping around us like a giant python.
"Watch out!"
I shouted, pulling Fei Wan behind me.
The vines suddenly coiled around my arm, sending a sharp pain coursing through me.
I tried to break free, but the strength of the vines was overwhelming.
I couldn't move at all.
"Liu Buqi!"
Fei Wan gasped.
She wanted to come over to help me, but the vines had already reached out with their sinister grasp.
At that critical moment, a figure suddenly appeared before us.
He grabbed the vine and yanked it hard.
The vine snapped in response.
I was stunned.
Who was this person?
He turned around to look at us, a faint cold smile playing on his lips.
"Who are you?" he asked.
It was then that I clearly saw his appearance.
He was tall, dressed in a suit, and wore a pair of gold-rimmed glasses.
A commanding aura radiated from him.
"Wu Mingyuan?"
I blurted out.
He smiled slightly.
"It seems you know me."
A heaviness settled in my heart.
How could Wu Mingyuan be here?
Could it be that he came for Xiao Hui as well?
Wu Mingyuan's gaze shifted to Xiao Hui, a glimmer of greed flashing in his eyes.
"I want this beast."
