As the High-Speed Rail just started moving, the handsome guy sitting next to me suddenly became restless.
He glanced around for a moment before pulling out his phone and starting to watch something on a video app.
There was sound—some low-budget romance film.
The woman in the video had a flirtatious expression, seemingly playing hard to get.
Yet this guy next to me was so engrossed that he didn’t even notice when I walked up beside him.
“Ahem.” I cleared my throat, trying to gently remind him to lower the volume, but he didn’t even look up. “This is my home surveillance!”
Whose home surveillance captures this?
I was about to ask him if he filmed this himself when a man’s face appeared on the screen.
Wait… isn’t that my fiancé?
My mind went blank as I snatched his phone and hit the pause button.
No way.
I must be seeing things.
I blinked furiously and looked again.
No mistake—it was him.
Li Dawei.
“Holy crap!” The handsome guy cursed, clutching his chest in mock horror. “Sister, you have quite the habit!”
Ignoring him, I stared intently at the screen showing Li Dawei’s face.
His upper body was bare, his skin healthy and smooth, with well-defined lines.
On his left chest, there was a birthmark the size of a thumb that resembled a plum blossom in shape.
Tears streamed down my face uncontrollably, falling in large drops.
I gripped the phone tightly, my whole body trembling.
Li Dawei.
How dare you cheat on me!
"Hey, sis, don't cry," the handsome guy said, scratching his head as he leaned closer, one hand resting on my shoulder. "I was just taking a look."
"It's just a little shocking, right? If you're really excited, we can switch places, and I'll let you watch to your heart's content."
"Who’s excited!" I finally snapped back, unable to hold it in any longer.
"If you're not excited, then why are you crying?" The handsome guy looked puzzled. "Isn't it normal to enjoy this kind of stuff? Don't worry, I won't judge you."
"That man is my fiancé." I pointed at the screen and looked up into his eyes, speaking each word clearly.
"You say this is your home surveillance; do you know where he is?"
The handsome guy paused for a moment, his playful expression fading. "Are you really going to find him?"
I nodded.
"Alright, I'll help you." He stood up and zipped his jacket all the way to the top. "Men are all big idiots; they really need to be kept in check."
We both got out of the car.
Once we left the station, I headed straight for my destination.
"Slow down, sis," he called out as he caught up with me, walking alongside. "You might wear yourself out before you even catch him; it's not worth it."
I wasn't in the mood to banter with him; my mind was consumed with Li Dawei's betrayal.
"I can't believe you're this kind of person."
"Always acting so refined, but behind the scenes..."
I scoffed and quickened my pace.
Scumbag, just wait!
"My name is Yu Shenglin. I was supposed to be on a business trip in the neighboring city today, but since it’s my fiancée's birthday, I rushed back," he said, scratching his head with a look of disappointment. "I wanted to surprise her, but I never expected..."
He shook his head and let out a bitter laugh. "I can't believe I've been cheated on."
I had no intention of comforting him; I quickly recounted how I discovered Li Dawei's infidelity: "I came here to discuss wedding plans with him and ended up seeing the surveillance footage from the High-Speed Rail, so I came over."
"Wow, there's even surveillance on the High-Speed Rail," Yu Shenglin exclaimed in astonishment.
My mind was filled with the image of Li Dawei's bare torso and the birthmark on his left chest. It was a chaotic mess in my head, and I couldn't sort through my thoughts. I took a deep breath, forcing myself to suppress the irritation bubbling inside me. "What's your name?"
"My name is Yu Shenglin. And you?"
"Dong Xinran."
"That's a lovely name," Yu Shenglin complimented me. Noticing my lack of interest in conversation, he wisely fell silent.
