Chapter 13: Midnight Ghost Chase in Kansas City 0

At the same moment, in a corner not far from the street, Laser Eye and Qin Grey, drawn by the sounds, looked at Bai Luo wielding a light whip and the disheveled Shirayuki Sadako nearby. They exchanged glances, unable to hide their shock. 0

Laser Eye said, "These two mutants are ones I've never seen before, but... it seems they are engaged in battle?" 0

Qin replied, "The psychic power of that woman in white... is so strong. I fear Charles must have sensed her presence as well." 0

Laser Eye remarked, "That child might be the Eastern youth the professor mentioned earlier." 0

Qin frowned and said, "But it appears he is not as powerful as the mutant beside him. That woman is truly strange; she doesn't even seem like a real, living person." 0

While they were lost in thought, Bai Luo had already closed in on Shan Village Sadako. 0

Although Mizumura Memeko was weaker than Sadako, her assistance in fending off Sadako's mental invasion proved effective. Among the throng of people driven into madness by Sadako's influence, Bai Luo, being a normal person, stood out as an anomaly. 0

He charged forward, and Sadako showed no reaction until Bai Luo, like a cowboy, swung the light rope in his hand. It was only then that Sadako seemed to suddenly sense something. She quickly lifted her head, her long hair parting slightly to reveal half of her pale and stunning face along with one pitch-black eye that locked onto Bai Luo. 0

Indeed, this vengeful spirit was drawn to the light rope formed from the talisman that had cost him one hundred points. 0

Then... 0

Then, Sadako did something that left Bai Luo utterly astonished. 0

The ghost turned and ran away. 0

Bai Luo was stunned. 0

He never expected that holding such a thing could scare Sadako off. 0

Yet, Sadako was indeed fleeing, her hair flying in the night, making her stand out amidst the crowd of wailing people. 0

Moreover, she wasn't running on her legs; it was almost as if she was floating, disappearing and reappearing several meters away in an instant, creating an indescribable sense of horror. 0

Bai Luo gasped. The Swift Movement Talisman he had just used had already lost its effectiveness. While it was cheap and effective, the price of being cheap and effective was that its duration was short-lived. 0

He quickly chewed on a piece of Old White Rabbit Milk Candy, feeling that "the System is with me," and then asked Mizumura Memeko in his mind, "Can you sense her presence?" 0

"I can probably... She should be heading southeast." 0

That was in the direction of downtown Kansas City. 0

Bai Luo nodded slightly. He activated another Swift Movement Talisman along with a Power Talisman and started to run. 0

The chaos here had already attracted quite a few police officers and special agents, and Bai Luo's unusual behavior had been noticed early on. Therefore, when he attempted to leave, three or four officers quickly surrounded him from different directions. 0

Although they were taking the situation seriously, they relaxed somewhat upon realizing that Bai Luo was just a child, even if he appeared to be a mutant. 0

Underestimating a traveler comes with a price. 0

As Bai Luo approached the three officers, he raised his hands and, using his shorter stature to his advantage, knocked them all down in one swift motion. 0

He once again adhered to his "troublemaker" combat philosophy: "One punch for each, knock them down and run." 0

Though he had the System, he wasn't foolish enough to wage war against the state. With Sadako causing such a commotion, even though Magneto hadn't intervened, Kansas City was in an uproar. 0

Moreover, given Sadako's abilities, this Vengeful Spirit girl could potentially create even more chaos. Bai Luo needed to capture this "lost soul" before the System determined that the mission had failed. 0

Fortunately, he had Mizumura Memeko. Since Sadako wasn't deliberately hiding her presence, Mizumura Memeko could roughly pinpoint her direction. 0

The streets were in disarray. While many witnessed him taking down the three officers, others were too far away. With Bai Luo's incredible speed and agility, they could only watch helplessly as he vanished into the depths of an alley. 0

On another corner of the street, Laser Eye tried to pursue him but was stopped by his companion, Qin Grey. 0

Scott looked at his partner in confusion, but Qin shook her head and said, "The Sentinel Robot is coming. We can't lead them to that child." 0

At the same moment, Bai Luo had arrived at another street. 0

This time, he caught sight of Sadako. 0

She wasn't killing anyone; instead, she stood on the street with her head slightly bowed, seemingly lost in thought. However, the moment she noticed Bai Luo, she panicked and turned to run. 0

Bai Luo took off after her once again. 0

But Sadako was incredibly fast. Without Mizumura Memeko's assistance, Bai Luo would have lost her entirely. He could only follow at a distance, watching her white figure and her wet, disheveled hair flutter in the air. 0

Just as Bai Luo felt dizzy from the chase, Sadako finally stopped ahead of him. 0

According to Mizumura Memeko's earlier words: "She entered the bar up ahead and has stopped." 0

It was a nightclub commonly found in Kansas City, filled with dim yellow lights, scantily clad women, and drunken patrons slumped over the bar. Yet, Shan Village Sadako—the ghost in white with her hair down—should have stood out but vanished at that moment. 0

Bai Luo wandered around the bar for a few laps and even ate three pieces of Old White Rabbit Milk Candy but couldn't find her. Mizumura Memeko was quite certain that Sadako was still inside the bar and hadn't left. 0

She might have hidden herself. 0

In such a place, the glowing rope in Bai Luo's hand became less noticeable. Even a scantily clad bunny girl approached him with a cheerful smile and asked, "Hey there, are you here to have some fun too?" 0

Bai Luo frowned and pushed her away, not because he was averse to women or pretentious, but because he suddenly spotted a muscular man. 0

It was Logan. 0

Wolverine. 0

He was sitting in the corner of the bar, quietly drinking. 0

At that moment, he appeared quite young; a simple white shirt could hardly contain the muscles that seemed ready to burst from his frame. However, his expression was not good as he continued to drink, exuding a sense of detachment from the world around him. 0

Bai Luo never expected to see Logan in this place, at this time, under these circumstances. 0

And Bai Luo was a genuine fan of Wolverine. 0
