Chapter 43: You Have a Call 0

Bai Luo was advancing. 0

The warriors surged forward, firing wildly, but the space here was too cramped. Their combat effectiveness was limited by their numbers, while Bai Luo was nothing short of a "monster." 0

This guy seemed impervious to harm; even when hit repeatedly at close range, he merely showed slight redness on his skin. 0

At first, Strucker managed to maintain his composure, but soon, he could no longer keep calm. 0

Bai Luo's pace was too rapid; the men he brought with him were like paper in front of Bai Luo. 0

However, at that moment, a voice emerged, standing in front of Bai Luo. 0

She concealed herself within the chaotic crowd, waiting for the right moment. In the darkness, she sprang forth, her ten fingers extending a long and sharp Adamantium Blade, striking down directly at Bai Luo. 0

The newcomer had a similar yellow complexion to Bai Luo but was not Chinese. This was Death Woman, Japanese and one of Strucker's most capable subordinates. She possessed regenerative abilities and extendable Adamantium claws, but she was not a mutant; she was a biochemically modified human born from metal skeletal enhancements. 0

The instant she lunged at him, Bai Luo heard simultaneous warnings in his mind from Sadako and Mizumura Memeko: "Heart!" 0

Bai Luo had actually noticed her long ago. Having seen the movie, he understood that in direct confrontation, Strucker was not the most threatening individual; it was Death Woman beside him who posed the greatest danger. 0

Thus, when Death Woman came crashing down with thunderous force, Bai Luo swiftly turned and raised his arm to block her attack. 0

However, Bai Luo's expression changed slightly. 0

He felt pain. 0

He withdrew his arm and, illuminated by the flickering flames on either side, looked at his arm—under the enhancement of the Iron Body Talisman, Death Woman's Adamantium had actually carved five deep gashes into his flesh. 0

Bai Luo couldn't help but mutter to himself: This is breaking my defense! 0

His reaction was swift; he pulled out a handful of Old White Rabbit Milk Candy from his pocket and hurled it towards Death Woman without hesitation. 0

In the dim light, Death Woman couldn't see clearly what Bai Luo had thrown at her, but given Bai Luo's earlier impressive display and unparalleled combat style, she instinctively assumed that whatever he had thrown must be a deadly weapon. The clattering sound it made only added to her apprehension. Without a second thought, Death Woman retreated, letting the White Rabbit Candy fall to the ground. 0

Just after activating the new effect of the White Rabbit Candy, Bai Luo shouted in his heart: "Sadako—go!" 0

He then turned around and charged straight at William Stryker once more. 0

Bai Luo was acutely aware of his strengths and weaknesses. His fighting skills and combat experience were not particularly high; these were not things one could master overnight. Death Woman clearly surpassed him in both areas, and her Adamantium claws could easily pierce through his defenses, allowing her to kill him on the spot if she chose to exploit those advantages. 0

Thus, Bai Luo decisively retreated, letting Sadako deal with her. He didn't seek to kill but merely to delay. His target was Strucker; while Death Woman's combat abilities were formidable, she could only be effective in battle. Once Strucker was dead, Death Woman would be nothing more than a "lost soul." 0

Sadako indeed seemed more obedient now. As soon as Bai Luo's words fell, a chilling wind swept out from his body. Just as Death Woman realized she had been startled by the White Rabbit Candy and was about to pursue him, she let out a scream, clutching her head as she collapsed to the ground, surrounded by swirling illusions… an ancient well with a missing corner and a woman in tattered white hair climbing out of it. 0

In that brief moment, Strucker had already fled from the Mutant School and was hurriedly boarding a nearby plane. 0

Strucker was surrounded by numerous warriors as he ran, glancing back but failing to see any sign of Bai Luo pursuing him. He couldn't help but let out a long sigh of relief in his heart—what kind of person was that Easterners? Clearly not a mutant, yet possessing such immense power. Could they be an alien? 0

However, none of that mattered now. Strucker believed he was about to escape. As long as the Easterners were around, he would never show his face again. 0

Yet, just as he stepped onto the plane, his phone rang out suddenly. It wasn't just his; every communication device around him emitted the same crisp ringtone. 0

During the mission, these warriors were clearly not permitted to carry phones. 0

At that moment, not only was Strucker's phone ringing, but every device capable of receiving signals and making sounds nearby was chiming in unison. 0

A helicopter overhead cast down a blinding light. Surrounded by people, Strucker felt an inexplicable chill and horror wash over him. 0

What was happening? 0

Strucker knew that mutants had all sorts of bizarre abilities, and interfering with radio waves was nothing new. But when he pulled out his phone to check, the caller ID displayed a future version of himself... This was beyond anything that could be explained by mutant powers. 0

His gaze darted around, searching for any sign of Bai Luo. He believed that such an unfathomable trick could only be executed by Bai Luo. 0

Yet the surroundings were engulfed in darkness; how could he possibly see Bai Luo? 0

Grinding his teeth, Strucker ultimately decided to answer the call. However, instead of Bai Luo's voice, a sweet giggle from a girl echoed through the line. Though sweet, in this context and at this moment, it was undeniably a terrifying sound. 0

Strucker's expression changed multiple times as he turned to board the plane. Yet just as he took a step forward, he found himself stumbling as if caught by an invisible force. The warriors around him rushed forward in alarm. 0

William Stryker pushed them aside and hissed, "Bai Luo—what do you want?" 0

"Hehehe." 0

The chilling laughter was the only response. 0

Stryker's scalp felt as if it were on fire, but he was still Stryker. He threatened in a low voice, "If I die here, Charles will be the first to go." 0

Yet, the only reply was the girl's tinkling laughter, and with every step Stryker took, he felt he would surely miss his footing. 0

Grinding his teeth, Stryker's mind raced. Finally, it seemed he had grasped the reason behind Bai Luo's relentless pursuit. He spoke in a deep voice, "I didn't do anything to your sister; I don't know if she's dead or alive." 0

The moment those words left his mouth, the laughter on the other end of the line abruptly stopped. 0
