Chapter Seventy-Two: Alliance
As soon as Bai Luo spoke, the sword formation in the air became even brighter. A whole array of sword shadows transformed into starlight, cascading down from above, densely flying towards Bai Luo. He had been prepared for this moment; the instant he exchanged for the Tortoise Shell Talisman, he had already decided to adopt a turtle strategy.
He dashed forward, a light shield radiating a yellowish glow appearing before him, interweaving with the densely falling Flying Swords. Remarkably, he managed to withstand the onslaught. In fact, Bai Luo pushed many of the light shields upward from below, forcing back countless Sword of Dao lights by half a step.
Bai Luo's entire body was bathed in radiant light, the sword light and talisman light reflecting in his eyes, making them sparkle brilliantly.
Then he turned around and found Steve staring at him blankly.
Bai Luo almost let out a breath he had been holding. He exclaimed, "What are you doing? That guy has accomplices nearby; find them and take them out! If you see a woman in a big yellow robe with a bald head, tell her I need help."
Bai Luo knew it was a battle of magic. The Reincarnator had indeed responded to his voice immediately, but they were both people from the real world. Terms like "Chinese Transmigrator" and "Chinese Reincarnator" weren't just for show. The System, item exchanges, and foresight were external to them; being unpredictable and capricious was the hallmark of glorious Transmigrators and Reincarnators dominating the world.
Rogers didn't quite understand Bai Luo's earlier shout about magic battles until he heard this new command. He immediately ran to the other side but kept glancing back—this scene was simply astonishing. The sword shadows in the air formed a straight line of light that pierced downwards, while that figure from the East stubbornly held up a yellowish light shield, firmly intercepting the descending sword shadows.
On another side, Hulk was thrashing about within a thin translucent barrier. The longer it was trapped, the angrier it became.
Meanwhile, Bai Luo was rapidly drawing symbols. At this moment, only two thoughts occupied his mind.
Drawing symbols... This Reincarnator must be at least B-Rank; how many points would that be?
For this Reincarnator, Bai Luo was determined to capture him. Not only for what had happened when he was stomped down earlier—he needed to settle that score—but also because this Reincarnator was exceptionally strong—how many System points would that be worth?
Just then, a calm voice suddenly rang out behind Bai Luo. Despite the chaotic situation, it remained composed: "He has been enhancing the power contained within that physical sword's blade. These sword shadows are actually byproducts generated from the enhancement of that physical sword's power."
Bai Luo didn't need to turn around; he already knew who had appeared behind him. He smiled and said, "Supreme Sorcerer sister, you arrived quite quickly. Otherwise, I would have been planning to run all over the map with this guy."
It was indeed Supreme Sorcerer Gu Yi who had come; given such a commotion had erupted here, she should have arrived long ago—she just hadn’t revealed herself until now.
"Bai Luo" spoke directly, "Their target is 'Hulk'—that is, 'Bruce Banner.' I'm not entirely clear on their specific plans, but it seems they intend to subdue him first and then kill him by some means."
"The Ancient One" replied, "I can pull that mage in the sky into another world—the one I once opened, a mirrored dimension that belongs to another realm. Everything that happens there will not affect the present world.
"In fact, I could trap him in that world forever, but... that wouldn't solve the problem."
This was clearly the reason why "The Ancient One" had not shown herself earlier.
"Bai Luo" asked, "So do you think I have a way to solve the problem?"
"It is us joining forces," "The Ancient One" said. "Together, we can defeat them. These visitors from the 'Alternate Dimension' made a mistake; they suffered a significant loss this morning and are still paying for the same oversight. Although I don't know why they are so obsessed with killing 'Hulk,' they have arrogantly believed they could accomplish this with brute force, completely disregarding our existence and what we can do in an instant."
"Bai Luo" turned around to look at "Supreme Sorcerer Gu Yi" behind him. He understood the mindset of the "Reincarnators" better than anyone else. For this group of "Reincarnators," the plot had already spiraled out of control; they planned to ignore other NPCs and simply take 'Hulk' away via 'Main God.'
But they were clearly miscalculating.
"The Ancient One" had already sensed their presence as beings from the "Alternate Dimension."
When "Bai Luo" turned back, he met "The Ancient One's" piercing gaze—she wasn't looking at the sword array in the sky but was focused on him, her eyes intense as if she could see right through him.
What had she... noticed?
"The Ancient One" said, "I can instantly transport you directly above him. I will create the possibility and opportunity for you to 'Kill'—of course, I will also make my move."
"Bai Luo" pulled back sharply, drawing numerous "Tortoise Shell Talismans" back in front of him and said, "Let's do it."
"The Ancient One" raised her hand.
Immediately, before "Bai Luo," a stunning scene unfolded once again; the space in front of him seemed to shatter like glass. The "Flying Sword," which flew straight toward "Bai Luo," transformed into an echo within that mirrored surface, as if it were not even in the same dimension.
Then, the ground beneath "Bai Luo's" feet began to shift on its own. He was moving farther away from "The Ancient One," while the clouds in the sky and the figures of the "Reincarnators" became clearer.
The golden clouds in the sky, illuminated by the sword light, suddenly appeared to have glass-like spiderweb cracks at that moment.
And the figure of the Reincarnator became clear.
He had changed into an ancient-style long robe and was performing a sword ritual in the air. However, at this moment, the immense changes in space finally caused his expression to shift. The grand main sword of the immobile sword formation in the sky began to move slowly under his control.
At this very moment, Bai Luo, who had not even taken a single step, was suddenly transported behind the Reincarnator by Supreme Sorcerer Gu Yi.
But the Reincarnator was indeed powerful; he almost instantly sensed Bai Luo's presence behind him. The movement of the main sword's light in the slowly moving sword formation suddenly accelerated to an incredible speed, and in an instant, it was above Bai Luo's head, ready to strike down!
The Tortoise Shell Talisman light shield that Bai Luo had gathered before the main sword's light evaporated like paper under the overwhelming sword light. Sadako and Mizumura Memeko both gasped in shock and launched a surprise attack on the Daoist from Bai Luo's body, attempting to rescue him by distracting their enemy.
However, in just a moment, Bai Luo fell into a state of certain death!
