Chapter 111: Reincarnator... Reincarnator!
Professor Charles's first words were, "Lorna Dane has been kidnapped."
Bai Luo's first reaction was "What the hell," but he kept it to himself, merely grunting a couple of times.
Charles seemed a bit puzzled by Bai Luo's response, but his mind was clearly focused on Lorna, so he didn't pay much attention. Instead, he continued, "About two hours ago, two agents from S.H.I.E.L.D. took her away. They were looking for Lorna because of some issues... I conducted my investigation afterward, but it was too late; Lorna had already vanished—she's not with you, is she?"
The professor was not omniscient.
Bai Luo was genuinely taken aback this time. He replied, "No, I didn't send anyone from S.H.I.E.L.D. to pick her up."
Before the professor could respond, Sadako, who resided within Bai Luo, calmly interjected, "Do you need me to tell you? That was me who sent them; I intended to discuss our marriage with her."

Sadako sighed and said, "I'll go talk to him."

Then there was a long silence on the phone.
Charles's slightly doubtful voice soon broke the silence: "So... this person claiming to be Shan Village Sadako is one of yours?"
Bai Luo responded with a simple "Mm."
In New York, Charles looked at the half-real, half-virtual image of Sadako before him and joked, "Bai, you really are a mysterious figure."
Then he communicated with Sadako mentally, saying, "So... what happened to Bai? Do you need to talk to me?"
"In short, he has fallen for someone," Sadako replied coldly.

Bai Luo waited for a moment before Charles spoke again, "Bai, given the situation, I suspect that whoever targeted Lorna is likely after you. The only connection between Lorna and S.H.I.E.L.D. is you, and they are using your name. I will keep this matter from Eric for now. I hope you can handle it properly. Charles paused, implying that Lorna got involved because of him, and he needed to resolve this matter thoroughly.
Bai Luo felt a bit frustrated being unable to speak.
However, he had a good impression of Lorna. Whether before or after his journey, this Polaris Sister had some unlikable traits and a bad temper, but she was a good person.
Previously in the hospital, she stayed by his side not just because she had nowhere else to go after being brought by Bai Luo.

The other party was much more "generous" than Bai Luo had imagined. They opened with, "Hello, Mr. Bai, I am a member of Hydra. We recently invited your fiancée, Ms. Lorna, and now we would like to invite you to come and visit."

Now that Bai Luo was free and there was nothing requiring his involvement, stepping out was quite easy for him.

After a moment's thought, he decided to send Nick a text message: "What are you researching with the Cosmic Cube? Take a break for now."
Nick replied in surprise, "How did you know I was developing the Cosmic Cube?"
This was also why Bai Luo hadn't messaged earlier—after all, Nick hadn't told him anything, so how could he remind him?
Looking at Nick's message, Bai Luo could only sigh internally and quietly step outside.
What Bai Luo didn't expect was that just two hours later, after arriving in Ohio, he would receive another System notification!
