Chapter 113: The Buddhist
Around eleven o'clock at night, Lorna Dane woke up, holding her head and blinking in confusion. The first thing she saw was Bai Luo, and she exclaimed, "You're here! This Chinese restaurant is terrible."
Bai Luo couldn't help but chuckle. After asking what happened, he learned that Lorna had been tricked into coming to the restaurant. He had invited her for a meal, but it turned out that a group of Hydra agents embedded within S.H.I.E.L.D. had slipped a drug into her food, effortlessly taking down the fierce Polaris Sister.
Once Lorna grasped the situation, her mood clearly soured. She glared at Bai Luo with her smoky-eyed gaze and demanded, "What’s wrong with you? Why are you texting me instead of talking?"
Bai Luo thought for a moment and replied, "It is quite troublesome."
At that simple statement, Lorna's mouth dropped open in shock, completely frozen in place.
Sadako seized the moment and chimed in, "What you just said was—will you marry me, Lorna Dane?"
After a brief moment of stunned silence from Lorna, all the metallic objects in the room began to tremble.
Lorna's expression quickly shifted from shock to pure fury. It was clear that she was now intent on taking down Bai Luo right then and there.
Or perhaps our Polaris Sister was preparing to start a killing spree.
Bai Luo could only sigh.
Not long after Lorna woke up, Nick Fury called in a hurry. The message was simple: he wanted Bai Luo back. According to Nick, the group of Reincarnators who hadn’t secured the Cosmic Cube had begun reaching out to him.
Bai Luo's eyes narrowed slightly.
This time, the Reincarnators seemed less savage compared to the previous two encounters.
However, two phone calls had already come in, and Bai Luo could no longer stay in Ohio.
He had to rush back.
Bai Luo actually had two options. The first was to remain hidden in the shadows, striking a fatal blow to the two Reincarnators at a critical moment. The old Bai Luo would have undoubtedly done this, but the situation was different now. Bai Luo had become a world-renowned superhero, with records filed at S.H.I.E.L.D. He could hide, but if the Reincarnators paid even a little attention, they would discover that there was an Eastern superhero deliberately hiding from them. Therefore, Bai Luo's old methods were clearly not as effective anymore; the second option was to reveal himself directly.
Nick had already dispatched S.H.I.E.L.D.'s special aircraft to pick him up.
The director of S.H.I.E.L.D. was clearly eager to retrieve the Cosmic Cube. S.H.I.E.L.D. had been studying the Cosmic Cube for some time and understood all too well the immense threat it posed. Thus, Nick Fury was urgently trying to gather the Avengers to address this situation.

Bai Luo exchanged a brief greeting with Lorna before planning to head out quickly, taking S.H.I.E.L.D.'s plane to Washington.
But…
Bai Luo did not manage to leave smoothly.
As he turned around after sending a message to Lorna on his phone, he saw the door of the room creak open and close by itself without any wind.
Bai Luo glanced at the iron doorknob and turned back, only to see Lorna sitting up in bed with a smile on her face, tilting her head slightly. "I'm going too."
Bai Luo stared at her, initially wearing a look of helplessness. However, after a moment, it seemed he thought of something, and that helplessness gradually transformed into a strange smile.
This smile left Lorna a bit bewildered. "What's wrong?" she asked.
Bai Luo pulled out his phone and typed away rapidly.
After reading what he had written, Lorna looked up, slightly astonished. "Are you really going to do this?"
The journey was surprisingly smooth; from Ohio to Washington, they encountered no obstacles.
This was to be expected. Although Loki and the Reincarnator had both descended upon Earth, each had their own objectives and plans. If Bai Luo had run into a group of them right away, that would have been truly bizarre.
The S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters in Washington was brightly lit, but Bai Luo did not find many familiar faces there.
After the Cosmic Cube was taken, Nick Fury had sent Natasha, who was on a mission, to find Hulk. Agent Phil Coulson had rushed to New York to bring Iron Man Tony Stark back. As for Captain America Steve Rogers, being the vanguard warrior of capitalism, he was already on standby for this matter.
However, Tony was slacking off while Steve was on the other side of the country. It would take some time for them to gather together. Therefore, Bai Luo ended up being the first superhero to return to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Trident Headquarters.
Perhaps because of this, Bai Luo was the most recent and only person who could return to S.H.I.E.L.D. quickly. Nick was frantically making one phone call after another.
When Bai Luo returned, Nick was in a high-level meeting with the Reincarnators seeking cooperation with S.H.I.E.L.D. Upon hearing that Bai Luo had returned, he rushed out to meet him, clearly wanting to brief Bai Luo on some situations to avoid any awkwardness when he encountered the Reincarnators—though Director Nick was overthinking it; Bai Luo was quite familiar with the Reincarnators.
But Nick Fury, dressed in a long coat, was somewhat surprised when he saw Bai Luo coming out.
Bai Luo had brought Lorna with him.
Lorna walked ahead, her face exuding a commanding queenly aura, striding with an assertiveness that was strikingly masculine. In contrast, Bai Luo followed closely behind Lorna, perfectly positioned a step back. His gait and expression made him look like a bodyguard trailing behind her.
Just as Nick Fury was taken aback, his phone suddenly rang. He glanced down and saw a text message from Bai Luo.
The content read: "Lorna is my wife; just cooperate."
Nick was momentarily stunned, but he still stopped the two of them, choosing to go along with Bai Luo. He looked directly at Lorna while speaking to Bai Luo: "This batch of 'Strange People' is acting unusually; they want to cooperate with us. But I suspect it might be because they failed to seize the Cosmic Cube..."
He paused slightly, hesitating for a moment before continuing, "Moreover, the leader of this group of 'Strange People' is Eastern Buddhist."
