Chapter One Hundred Fourteen: Hatsune... Victory?
In the world of Reincarnator, there are no true believers; most are false believers born from exchanges related to enhancements, and they don't even understand what their so-called faith truly is.
However, Bai Luo was somewhat surprised.
As he followed Nick into the room, the first thing he noticed was a striking bald head.
The person was not Chinese; he looked more like someone from India or Thailand, with dark skin. Yet, he was dressed in simple monk attire, wearing traditional Buddhist robes. He held a string of prayer beads in one hand and had an antique Treasure Vase hanging at his waist. In the other hand, he grasped a series of Vajra knots. His clothing appeared somewhat heavy, but this Reincarnator exuded an indescribable Buddhist demeanor. His face bore an expression of righteousness and compassion, as if the words "compassion for all" were deeply imprinted on his features. His gaze radiated a peaceful indifference to worldly matters, making it difficult for Bai Luo to find any fault with him.
However, the moment Bai Luo laid eyes on him, Mizumura Memeko's voice echoed in his mind: "I don't like this person."
Sadako didn't seem to have much to say either but clearly held no fondness for him.
This was a natural restraint—the Vengeful Spirit's opposition to Buddhism.
Bai Luo hesitated. If he were to engage with these people, Sadako and Mizumura Memeko would definitely not be able to fight. The last Daoist Reincarnator they encountered wasn't specialized in this field but still inflicted some damage on the two Vengeful Spirits within Bai Luo's body. This time, however, this Reincarnator was evidently a master in this domain, making them a direct counter to Sadako and Mizumura Memeko.
The Reincarnator team negotiating with Nick clearly wasn't from China. The leader had several individuals behind him who bore faces from other regions of Asia, with dark skin and attire that differed significantly from that of the Chinese.
There were five people in total: two men and three women. Nick brought Lorna and Bai Luo inside and began introducing them to one another.
The monk, named Vikas, was the leader of this Reincarnator team. Of course, in Nick's eyes, they referred to themselves as the guardians hidden in the shadows of the world, emerging only after learning that someone had seized the Cosmic Cube, which was crucial for global safety. Naturally, even Nick didn't buy into such nonsense. Aside from this monk, the other four members hailed from Thailand. One of the men was quite muscular, dressed only in a short-sleeved shirt and shorts, with a healthy bronze complexion. His well-defined muscles were clearly visible beneath his clothing; he introduced himself as Tiger Lee.
The other three women varied in appearance but generally had fit bodies, which was essential for survival in an infinite space. The most attractive among them wore large earrings and revealing clothing, sporting a high-neck black leather jacket; her name was Mana.
Another woman stood over six feet tall. Although her physique wasn't particularly muscular, she was still quite beautiful—a typical Thai beauty named Paitun. The last one appeared to be underage, shorter in stature with various freckles and acne on her face, resembling a high school student who had skipped class to participate in social activities; she was Manu.
Nick Fury also introduced Bai Luo and Lorna. As Bai Luo expected, some of the Reincarnators showed confusion at not recognizing Lorna, but most of their attention was focused on Bai Luo. After all, an Eastern superhero was quite rare in the Marvel universe.
Once Nick Fury mentioned Bai Luo's name, Lorna stepped forward and said, "As you can see, this is my fiancé and a mutant. However, he sustained an injury to his throat during our last battle and may not be able to speak or communicate like a normal person for some time."
Nick Fury wasn't sure what these two were up to, but since Bai Luo had already greeted him beforehand, he didn't anticipate any issues. He smiled and nodded from the side, saying, "Yes, his throat isn't in great condition right now, but please believe me when I say that these two are valuable agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and are trustworthy."
Vikas nodded slightly. It was their first time hearing about mutants in this world, and while surprised, the situation began to make sense to them. There weren't many Asians among the Avengers, but there were plenty of Asian faces among mutants. Vikas had heard of Lorna; she was Polaris, the daughter of Magneto Erik, known for her signature emerald green hair from the latest 2017 TV series X-Men: Gifted.
Of course, in a world where mutants coexisted with the Marvel Universe, Lorna's presence as a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. wasn't unusual at all. The key point was that Vikas and his team weren't there to explore the history of mutants and Marvel; as Bai Luo suspected, they were there for a team battle—to eliminate everyone from another Reincarnator team to achieve ultimate victory and return to Main God Space.
The teams matched in the team battles of the Main God are mostly of very similar strength. In other words, any side wishing to achieve victory in the Reincarnator team battles must pay a heavy price. Therefore, seizing resources from the background world of the team battle or gaining support from existing forces is essential.
Their opponents had already obtained the Cosmic Cube, and next, they would undoubtedly join forces with Loki and Thanos. In this regard, the other side had already seized the initiative. It was precisely for this reason that Vikas hurriedly sought out Nick Fury, attempting to quickly unite with another powerful entity in the Marvel Universe—the S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers.
Thus, he was indifferent to any changes in the plot of this world or alterations in characters. His doubts about Bai Luo's identity were only fleeting, as Lorna's explanation adequately filled in his uncertainties.
In Vikas's view, Lorna was also quite strong; her presence undoubtedly provided a powerful boost to his team.
As for Bai Luo… he never even considered that this openly appearing Chinese individual could be a traveler from another world or a reincarnator under the watchful eyes of the Main God.
After a round of self-introductions, Vikas politely bowed to everyone and said, "We are also a team; our team is called 'Buddha Light.' The ones who took your Cosmic Cube are another group of people who symbolize chaos and evil—they are ruthless marauders.
