Chapter 120: Gathering
Bai Luo, Lorna, Steve, and the group of Reincarnators sent by Nick Fury were directly brought to the deck of the Aircraft Carrier. At this moment, this massive flying vessel was still lying quietly in the sea, yet to showcase its astonishing flying capabilities.
The Reincarnators, already familiar with the storyline, were unfazed by the sight. They boarded the ship with an air of superiority, as if they knew everything.
Bai Luo was surprisingly subdued, playing the role of a mere bystander. In contrast, Lorna, despite having undergone years of moral education from Charles, still exuded an undeniable aura of a rebellious queen. She stood there confidently, drawing glances from those around her; their eyes lingered on her dark green hair—an unmistakable symbol of mutants.
In this era, the social status of mutants was not as dire as it once was. The existence of the X-Men and S.H.I.E.L.D. had positively influenced the lives of mutants to some extent. However, organizations that sought to eradicate mutants still existed, though they were not as brazen.
The Reincarnators seemed to have lost interest in Lorna and Bai Luo, likely due to Bai Luo's nonsensical ramblings from the previous night, which had effectively labeled them as untouchables.
Although Bai Luo's System punishment had long passed, he appeared more cautious than ever. He even wore a mask that completely concealed his face. Standing next to Lorna, he remained silent and realized that his attempts to hide his appearance only made him less noticeable.
The Reincarnators showed great interest in Steve, particularly three girls who praised Captain America's muscular physique endlessly. However, Bai Luo couldn't shake the feeling that their true target was Captain America's iconic shield.
Captain America's demeanor towards this group was notably cold. His initial impression of them was unfavorable and it would be difficult to change that with mere pleasantries.
As they boarded the aircraft carrier and it took off, everyone was left in awe. Watching it in a movie was one thing; experiencing it in reality was entirely different. Even Bai Luo had to admit that this marvel of cutting-edge technology evoked an indescribable thrill.
Even the Reincarnators, who had acted as if they knew what would happen next, displayed expressions of shock.
Only Master Vikas remained calm and composed as ever.
Bai Luo paid close attention to him; he could tell that Vikas possessed considerable strength, likely on a different level compared to the other members of their team.
With the Aircraft Carrier now airborne, everyone entered their assigned rooms as arranged by Nick Fury. It was clear that Fury intended to use this aircraft carrier for long-term mobile command operations.
Later that evening, Natasha and Coulson returned, and they were not alone. Natasha brought back Hulk, while Coulson had Tony Stark with him.
Although Hulk had been declared missing after the last incident at the hospital, that was merely the official story released by S.H.I.E.L.D. After the New York Incident, they had secured the rights to follow up and investigate Hulk from General Ross and had not lost track of him since. They simply chose not to disturb Bruce Banner's life until now. With the recent events spiraling out of control, Director Nick had promptly sent Natasha to retrieve Banner.
As for Tony Stark, he had already hinted at his support for a united front against external threats during his conversation with Bai Luo after the New York Incident. While he felt a bit disgruntled about being under S.H.I.E.L.D.'s jurisdiction, he still rushed over in the shortest time possible with his latest suit, showing a commendable level of enthusiasm.
Thor, however, was nowhere to be found. Bai Luo was confident that he would show up eventually. Odin would not allow his son to cause chaos on other planets, and Thor certainly wouldn’t miss the chance to come for Loki.
Moreover, after the last encounter, Thor had been quite moved by Bai Luo and Earth; he held a very positive impression of it. To him, Earth was a place filled with justice and love—definitely worth protecting.
Despite this, the number of superheroes and reincarnators gathered on this Aircraft Carrier was unprecedented.
Bai Luo could even see that Lorna was somewhat excited—such a gathering of extraordinary individuals was rare even for her.
Tony maintained his usual playboy demeanor, looking down on everyone except for those two beautiful Thai women; he couldn’t be bothered with anyone else.
At the same time, he had a couple of verbal spats with Captain America.
Bai Luo had long since gotten used to it.
What surprised him was that Tony managed to spot Bai Luo, who was hiding quite well among the crowd. Seizing a moment when no one was paying attention, he stepped over to Bai Luo's side and whistled at Lorna: “How’s Magneto doing these days?”
Lorna shot back coldly, “If you suddenly lose control and fall from your suit next time you wear it, don’t expect me to care.”
Tony chuckled awkwardly a couple of times before turning his gaze to Bai Luo. He stared at him for a moment and said, “You’re… all covered up. What’s going on?”
Bai Luo's System punishment had ended yesterday; he could speak normally now. However, when it came to Tony, he just smiled and replied, “Oh, I’ve been a bit mentally unstable lately and am trying out a ‘self-disappearance therapy.’”
Tony Stark couldn't help but smirk at the words. "Only you could say something like that and make it sound real."
Bai Luo shot back, "Bullshit, mine is the real deal."
Tony didn't have much to say in response. He wore a rather pained expression, staring at Bai Luo for a moment before finally sighing. "We should find some time to talk."
Bai Luo looked at him in surprise.
"Do you remember what happened last time we were at the hospital? I think the time has come; this is the perfect opportunity for us to form an alliance."
He paused slightly, glancing over at the group of Reincarnators not far away, and spoke deliberately, "To counter these alliances."
The superheroes could easily see that these Reincarnators, who were actively seeking cooperation, had their own agendas.
