The Nine Nether Invasion was imminent, and he could see it clearly amidst the trivial matters. If he could discern it, then surely those who controlled the vast intelligence network would be aware as well. The Nine Nether Invasion was likely common knowledge, which is why we took action to drive him out of the academy early, fearing he might hand over The Book of Radiant Path.
I wouldn't have done so; if I were going to give it up, I would have done it long ago.
I didn't used to think this way, but after the Nine Nether Invasion, things changed.
What I fear most is being left unprotected; The Book of Radiant Path is my only bargaining chip.
Once the Nine Nether Invasion and the World of Mortals collide, the Daoist Sect will become a solid entity. At that point, if he hands over The Book of Radiant Path, all eyes from the Major Sects in the World of Mortals will not be on him. He will find himself in a precarious situation; what if we, remnants of the Light Path Classic, seek revenge? By then, we might not even be able to protect ourselves, and he could sweep us all away. To him, we are just small fish compared to the Daoist Sect.
With every word Gu Ping spoke, Jiang Anbo's expression grew darker because he knew Gu Ping was right. To Gu Ping, The Book of Radiant Path was nothing but a burden. While it brought great benefits to Gu Ping, it also caused him immense trouble, making it impossible for him to escape the Daoist Sect's pursuit.
But I have seen The Book of Radiant Path; the Daoist Sect will not let me go.
He would not be the only one who had seen even a glimpse of its contents.
As Gu Ping articulated each word, the gray Liangyi Sword emanated a murderous aura that left Jiang Anbo stunned with his mouth agape.
After a while, Jiang Anbo snapped back to reality and asked himself why he wasn't leaving.
He wanted to see; he had promised to deliver the Summer Solstice Jade Pendant to Cangqing Mountain and was curious about those who upheld their identities within the Light Path Classic.
I could choose a more stable path; they would try everything to pull me over or seize The Book of Radiant Path from me.
I was wrong; there is no stable path. Since I stepped onto this road, I knew there was no turning back. I must keep moving forward until I reach my peak; otherwise, I would eventually be consumed by that world, leaving nothing behind.
Putting away the Liangyi Sword, Gu Ping returned to his room to cultivate, unwilling to hear anything more from Jiang Anbo. He knew Jiang Anbo was a clever person and hoped he wouldn’t disappoint him.
Early in the morning, both of them woke up. Gu Ping had not had a peaceful sleep for a long time; his cultivation practice had long replaced rest. No matter the conditions or environment, Gu Ping could always find a way to rest. However, Jiang Anbo was awakened by the noisy crowd outside the courtyard.
After washing his face, he stepped outside to see what was causing all the commotion.
He knew very well what was happening outside; it was early in the morning, and they wouldn't even let anyone get a good night's sleep.
Though he had washed his face, Jiang Anbo was still bleary-eyed. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes with his leg and pushed open the courtyard door. In contrast, Gu Ping remained unfazed, completely indifferent to matters that did not concern him.
Did it concern him?
It had nothing to do with him, so why bother? Who were these people anyway?
Jiang Anbo sighed helplessly as he looked at the noisy crowd outside. He saw someone approaching with a challenge in their demeanor, followed by quite a few others behind them.
Was it because Jiang Anbo had heard that he won thirty-fourth place in the Earth Ranking? Were they all coming to challenge him? Did he dare to accept?
Challenge?
Jiang Anbo was confused. How could news spread so quickly? Just yesterday afternoon, something had happened, and now it seemed like everyone thought he was easy to bully.
He couldn't help but laugh at himself for getting into trouble after drinking too much yesterday.
Gu Ping leaned closer to Jiang Anbo's ear and whispered a few words before walking toward the Universe Hall with a smile.
During their casual conversations last month, Jiang Anbo had mentioned the Universe Hall and Seiya. Gu Ping currently held no significant identity; although the major empires in the World of Mortals were weak in controlling population flow, Gu Ping had no background or connections, making things inconvenient for him. If only he could have some sort of background identity, it would make things much easier.
The Universe Hall was one of the Daoist Sects that held considerable power. For Gu Ping, it seemed like an ideal opportunity to create an identity for himself as a Loose Cultivator and join the Universe Hall. Perhaps it would provide him with some assistance during the upcoming Sky East Tournament.
"Hey, am I just leaving like that?"
Ni Tian won’t deny it. After all, someone specifically named him to challenge, so what does it have to do with him?
After saying this, Gu Ping didn’t even turn his head as he headed towards the Universe Hall, leaving Dong Jiang Anbo alone to deal with those who sought fame through challenges.
Everyone else was eager to head to the arena at the Universe Hall.
As soon as the words were spoken, the surrounding challengers were incensed, itching to strike at Jiang Anbo and make a name for themselves in the process.
Having been there once last month made it easier this time. After asking a stableman for directions, he finally found the Universe Hall.
Similar to his encounter with Jiang Anbo, Bu Luo didn’t run into that spoiled girl who called him a bumpkin this time. His leg was almost healed, and he took the paper from his leg to go for the test.
The test results were related to star levels. Last month, after Jiang Anbo completed his test, he was denied the Star Master level. Bu Luo wondered what level he might achieve. Just as he was about to enter, he heard a voice behind him that stopped Gu Ping.
"Little Guy and Yi Dong are inside."
Gu Ping turned around and saw that it was the Middle-Aged Man who had been secretly observing in the arena yesterday. Perhaps, as Jiang Anbo said, that man was indeed an examiner?
