Song Lan and Tong Tong chose to ride the carousel to save face for Zhu Junjie. They haven't gotten off since entering the amusement park. Tong Tong didn't mind what she played as long as she was with Zhu Junjie and Song Lan at the amusement park. Even after riding the carousel for the entire morning, she was very happy.
Tong Tong heard that they were going to the haunted house. She reached out and tugged at Song Lan's clothing, whispering, "Mommy, Daddy is afraid of heights. If we go into the haunted house, will there be things that suddenly appear? Will he be scared?"

Zhu Junjie sees Song Lan and Tong Tong whispering to each other. He wants to lean in to listen, but unfortunately, he is too far away. Even if he stretches his neck, he can't hear what the two are saying.

"Dad, have you decided to go to the haunted house?"
"This is something your mom and I agreed on a long time ago, and it won't change."

The haunted house is very popular among young people and occupies a large area in the amusement park. To test the courage of the players, a special Testing area has been set up.
If someone is afraid they won't be able to continue playing, they can first go to the Testing Area before entering the Haunted House. After the three of them bought their tickets, Song Lan stopped Zhu Junjie, who was heading straight for the entrance, and looked towards the Testing Area. "What’s wrong? Do you think I would be scared?"
Zhu Junjie felt that his image as a tall man was being questioned. He said seriously, "Let me reiterate, I am not afraid. If you are scared, you can close your eyes, and I will lead you out!"
"Dad, this makes Tong Tong feel very safe!"
Tong Tong gave Zhu Junjie a big thumbs up.
Zhu Junjie Upon hearing this, he felt so proud. If he had a tail, it would have been wagging by now. He gave Song Lan a look that said "just wait and see." Song Lan couldn't help but smile at his smug expression.
"Go in." She kindly reminded Zhu Junjie about the testing area. If he didn't take the test, he would enter the haunted house like a fool. If he couldn't adapt inside the haunted house, it would be his own problem. Song Lan wanted to pick up Tong Tong, but Zhu Junjie was faster. He picked up Tong Tong and said to Song Lan, "Keep up, don't fall behind."
"I can't let go."
Song Lan said, and Zhu Junjie reached out to her as he spoke.
After hesitating, Song Lan reached out and took his hand.
Zhu Junjie held Song Lan's hand tightly and walked forward as if embraced by a spring breeze.
As soon as he stepped into the haunted house, the lights suddenly dimmed, and an eerie green glow appeared randomly in his line of sight, accompanied by some terrifying music.
It was Zhu Junjie's first time here, and everything before him was somewhat different from what he had imagined. He paused for a moment.
He hadn't had a chance to take a good look around when menacing, from his right side, a disheveled NPC in white clothes jumped out. "Ah!" Zhu Junjie, completely unprepared, was startled and tightly hugged Tong Tong in his arms.
Song Lan couldn't help but laugh as she watched Zhu Junjie quickly dodge to the side. This silly guy, who usually appeared fearless and bold, turned into a coward as soon as they arrived at the amusement park. It was one thing to be afraid of heights and avoid the tall rides, but he had confidently claimed that he was brave enough to enter the haunted house. Yet, just as he stepped inside, he was already scared out of his wits, which was quite unexpected.
Song Lan thinks that Zhu Junjie should at least be able to get through one-third of it, but unexpectedly encountered a Waterloo at the entrance!
Zhu Junjie took a deep breath, and Tong Tong patted Zhu Junjie's shoulder affectionately, "Daddy, mommy said those NPCs are all normal people, don't be afraid."
Tong Tong's childish voice sounded in Zhu Junjie's ear, and he seemed to be struck by lightning.
He was just scared by an NPC, he had promised to protect Song Lan and Tong Tong, and now he needs a child to comfort him!
If there was a crack in the ground right now, Zhu Junjie would have already crawled into it!

Zhu Junjie’s pale face turned red with embarrassment. "Dad... Dad wasn't scared just now; he just wasn't prepared."
He regretted not listening to Song Lan's suggestion to try out the Testing Area earlier. If he had, he wouldn't be feeling so humiliated now.
Tong Tong chimed in supportively, "I was scared the first time I went into the haunted house too, but after going through it more often, I got used to it."
"Tong Tong has played in the haunted house many times?"
Tong Tong is still so young, yet she has entered such a scary place many times!
Zhu Junjie suddenly feels like he's not even as brave as a child.
"That's right! When I went to the amusement park with Mommy for the first time, I was curious about the haunted house, and Mommy took me inside to play." At that time, the ticket seller said that I was too young and would get scared, as the amusement park had a rule that children my age were not allowed to enter the haunted house. I was really curious and looked at the entrance unwilling to leave, so Mommy found the manager of the amusement park, signed a waiver, and took me into the haunted house.
She lay on her mommy's shoulder, watching the NPCs appear from time to time. She found it very interesting and didn't cry at all.
During her first visit to the Haunted House, she behaved quite well. However, when she entered the Haunted House again with her mommy, she enjoyed touching the NPCs' hair or hands.
The NPCs probably thought she was cute and were very friendly towards her.
Mommy used to say that some people in the world are scarier than ghosts. At the time, she didn't understand what that meant, but after visiting the haunted house, she gradually realized it and felt that NPCs weren't scary at all.
"Dad, you can put me down. I can walk by myself."

Zhu Junjie was almost scared off by an NPC just now. If he gets scared again and clings to Tong Tong, it won't be good.
Song Lan took Tong Tong by the hand.
Zhu Junjie was originally going to say that this was a sign of distrust from Song Lan.
