The call connected.
"Uncle Zhou, I've arrived at the drop-off point in Yinlin and I'm heading towards Hu Family Village. Where are you?"
"So soon?" Captain Uncle Zhou of the Sixth Squad was taken aback.
Not many knew that Yelai was a Sequence individual. Besides Zhang Yinlin, only Brother Zhao and a few other Squad Leaders were aware.
"Did you drive here?"
"No, driving would be too obvious. I came on foot."
"On foot??" Uncle Zhou's eyelids twitched. Could he really have run that fast? Even a Rank 4 Sequence would find it difficult to do so.
Could it be that Yelai's Sequence directly enhanced his physical abilities?
"I've sent you the location. Just come over directly." Uncle Zhou didn't forget the matter at hand.
Yelai glanced at the location on his phone. Uncle Zhou's Sixth Squad was not far from Hu Family Village, but there was some distance from where he was, with Uncle Zhou positioned to the east and Yelai to the north of Hu Family Village.
"I'm on my way now."
"Alright."
Uncle Zhou responded, still harboring some doubts despite knowing Yelai had become a Sequence. He couldn't help but express his concern.
"Don't hang up. Keep communication open at all times. Hu Family Village is outside the safe zone. If you encounter any Entity, notify us immediately."
Yelai, running, did not refuse Uncle Zhou's good intentions.
"Okay, Uncle Zhou, I'll be careful."
Suddenly, Yelai came to an abrupt stop, wrinkling his nose as he sniffed in one direction.
A familiar scent.
It was the smell of fear.
"What’s wrong?" Uncle Zhou asked, pausing his conversation as he listened through his headphones, concern evident in his voice.
Yelai didn’t respond to Uncle Zhou. Instead, he focused on the scent in the air, confirming that he wasn’t mistaken. There was a smell of fear coming from that direction.
And it wasn’t the fear emitted by the Entity. It was the fear of a human.
Are there living people? Yelai raised an eyebrow in thought. This was outside the safe zone, where it was generally impossible for anyone to be alive. Moreover, Zhang Yinlin and the others were not in that direction, so it was certain that the source of the fear wasn’t them.
Based on Uncle Zhou's location data, it was also clear that it wasn’t Uncle Zhou and his team.
Hu Family Village.
Living people.
Combining these two points, Yelai quickly found an answer and immediately placed his hand on the earbud.
"Uncle Zhou, I think I've discovered traces of the Sequence sent by Zhong Zhi."
Uncle Zhou was taken aback. "You found something so soon?"
He glanced at Yelai's location; he had just entered the Hu Family Village area. Had he misjudged the situation earlier?
Uncle Zhou felt astonished. Could it be that Yelai's Sequence wasn’t a physical enhancement type but rather a tracking type? Otherwise, how could he find Zhong Zhi’s hidden Sequence Team so quickly?
That team was composed of well-trained Sequencers, and if Zhong Zhi had specifically arranged them to operate in secret, Uncle Zhou didn’t believe they would be easily detected. If it were that simple, Zhong Zhi wouldn’t have these individuals to contend with.
"Yelai, be careful. Stay put and wait for my team to join you."
To be safe, he decided to lead the team on a trip to prevent Yelai from getting hurt.
"It's fine, I guarantee safety," he assured.
Yelai had no intention of sitting idly by; she quietly followed the scent.
Meanwhile, in Hu Family Village, just ten meters north of the village entrance, there was a small farmhouse.
Just as Yelai had heard, there were indeed living people in Hu Family Village. Their group consisted of six individuals, both men and women, dressed in Sequence Combat Uniforms with numbers embroidered on their chests.
Yelai silently approached an old tree near the farmhouse.
Even without seeing their faces, just from their combat uniforms, Yelai could determine their identities.
These were members of the Protection Zone Team.
