They belonged to the Zhong Zhi faction.
At that moment, the Captain of the Second Squad pressed the button on his communication earpiece and spoke to the team member who was crouched on the rooftop of a three-story farmhouse.
"Have you found that Entity?"
"I haven't found it; it seems to be missing from here," the team member replied, his voice low as he pressed himself against the roof, afraid to expose too much of himself. Each time he peeked out, he quickly withdrew, his tension palpable throughout.
He wasn't the only one feeling this way. The Captain and the others were equally on edge, each responsible for their own area of vigilance. The atmosphere of anxiety and fear spread among them like wildfire.
Yelai listened to their conversation and sensed their fear, his brow furrowing slightly. The Entity was indeed terrifying and dangerous, but they were Sequence members. While it was natural to feel tense and alert in such situations, they shouldn't be this afraid.
From the scent of their fear, Yelai could tell that they were definitely on high alert, reacting to even the slightest disturbance with alarm. Was this really how a Second Squad should behave? The answer was no.
Although he couldn't hear what the team member known as Eagle was saying on the rooftop, he could make judgments based on the Captain's words. Was there truly a terrifying Entity in Hu Family Village?
Yelai narrowed his eyes. Over the past few days, he had gathered information about the Safe Zone from Zhang Yinlin. According to what he learned, Hu Family Village was not an extremely dangerous area. It seemed that this Entity had only recently arrived, intending to catch Yinlin off guard with a sudden attack.
As the members of the Second Squad continued their discussion, Yelai began to understand the truth.
"Captain, let's change locations. That Entity isn't here; it's probably somewhere else in Hu Family Village."
"What should we do then? Should we create some noise to draw it over?"
"No, Team Leader Zhong and the others are almost at Hu Family Village. If we make a commotion, Zhang Yinlin and the others will notice."
"Eagle, come down. Let's head south and see what we can find."
The Second Squad Captain rubbed his temples. "Everyone, stay alert. If there’s any sign of movement, speak up immediately. That Entity is not something we can handle; if it gets a hold of us, we're done for."
The team member Solemn nodded in agreement.
Eagle scratched his head and sighed. "If it weren't for dealing with Zhang Yinlin, I really wouldn't want to have anything to do with that Entity."
The other team members glanced over.
"Who wouldn't feel that way?"
"If it weren't for Team Leader Zhong's orders and the ability to return to the Numbered Protection Zone, I wouldn't want to come to Hu Family Village at all."
The Second Squad Captain shot them a sideways glance. "You should be grateful. Without that Entity, we wouldn't have a good way to deal with Zhang Yinlin. No matter what, Zhang Yinlin is still Rank Four."
"Alright, enough talk. Form a square formation and move south. Remember to erase any traces of our passage along the way."
The Second Squad Captain's tone was solemn.
"And let me say this again: under no circumstances should you look into that Entity's eyes. Do you hear me?"
"Yes!"
The Second Squad exited the farmhouse and delved deeper into the southern part of Hu Family Village.
Yelai did not immediately follow them. Instead, she kept her gaze fixed on the members of the Second Squad, murmuring to herself.
An Entity that cannot be gazed upon—what kind of Entity is that?
He was deep in thought.
The information he had obtained was significant; as long as he relayed it to Uncle Zhou and Zhang Yinlin, Zhong Zhi's scheme would not succeed this time. However, Yelai was not satisfied with just that.
What he wanted was not only for Zhong Zhi's plan to fail, but also to capture Zhong Zhi and extract information about the Numbered Protection Zone and the Li Family, among other things.
After weighing his thoughts, Yelai pressed the earpiece and communicated with Uncle Zhou, sending him a voice message.
