The sound echoed throughout the Defense Point, clearly heard by the surrounding creatures. For a moment, none of them dared to step forward. The Gaze that possessed one of the creatures felt a sense of inevitability; it thought these beings were irrational for daring to provoke the human before them.
At the same time, Yelai swung two arms of the creature he had captured, brutally killing one that attempted to escape.
Creak.
He suddenly leaned back, his body arching like a bow, locking eyes with another creature behind him.
"Do you think you can run without my permission?"
He stared intently at the creature, his tone filled with madness and a sickly threat, yet his face bore a refreshing Cthulhu-like smile. The other creatures around him were stunned into silence by his display of power.
The scent of fear thickened in the air.
He was pleased with this and was even more determined not to let any creature escape. At that moment, his mind was consumed by a desire for more fear.
It seemed he hadn’t killed enough; otherwise, why would they try to flee?
Maintaining an unnatural arched position, he swung the arms he used as weapons without hesitation, charging toward the fleeing creature behind him. Even as he leaned back and saw more creatures rushing toward him, he felt no fear.
On the contrary, he was filled with a perverse excitement, licking the corners of his mouth with a bizarre smile while letting out moans of ecstasy as he slaughtered the creature behind him.
"Ah, is there more fear coming? I want it, I want it!"
He pressed the makeshift weapon against both sides of his face, a look of twisted ecstasy on his features, his cheeks flushed with extreme excitement, radiating an indescribable pathological greed.
At the same time, Yelai stood firm against the onslaught.
Point of Resistance was also in action.
The Team Leader of Squad Two led the Sequence Team, which had merged with another Sequence Team that had been transferred from other Defense Points at the Signal Point. They were not only defending against the Entity, but also sending people into the rear of the defense line to clear out any breaches.
A sharp sound pierced the air.
One Sequencer fought fiercely to kill a hole, not even taking a moment to wipe the sweat from his brow as he shouted towards the Team Leader of Squad Two.
"Li Team, it's been almost a minute!"
His face was filled with urgency.
"I know," replied the Team Leader of Squad Two through clenched teeth.
He understood what his team member meant; right now, the Point of Resistance was holding back the Entity, preventing it from breaking through the defense line. However, just because things looked optimistic here didn’t mean that the situation at the Signal Point was equally hopeful. In fact, every passing second deepened the danger for the Signal Point.
It wasn't just the two of them; everyone at the Point of Resistance shared the same thought.
"We should still have some time. Ena hasn't notified me about any sightings of Entities near the surveillance at the main gate of the nearest Safe Zone at Signal Point."
The Team Leader of Squad Two responded while glancing aside and pressing down on his earpiece to communicate.
"How's it going with your cleanup in the Safe Zone? If you're done, hurry back."
"Not yet. A Rank Five hole got away, and we don’t know where it’s hiding now. How's it looking on your end at the Signal Point, Old Li?"
"We've managed to hold them off for now. We're just waiting for you to return. I heard that the boss is coming over too, so I can head back to the Signal Point. You all need to hurry; it's been almost a minute."
"I might need a little longer," came another voice from the other end of the earpiece.
