Yelai smiled upon seeing the situation.
The more Gaze feared him, the better it was; fear meant there was less chance of losing control.
"Kill all the Acupoints ranked below four, and cripple those ranked above four," Yelai commanded.
Gaze reacted instantly, attacking the nearby Acupoints.
This was not Signal Point; with other Sequencers around, Yelai couldn't afford to leave any Acupoint alive. After all, his purpose here was to support Signal Point and help fend off the Anomalous Entities.
Despite this, many Acupoints were killed under his rising Rank, instilling fear in the remaining ones.
As soon as the Acupoints at Signal Point were killed and fled, ending the defense of Signal Point, Yelai's Rank Seven Progress Bar increased significantly, by about ten percent.
Unfortunately, there were no Rank Seven Anomalous Entities present; if only a few had shown up.
Yelai lamented with a frown. If there had been Rank Seven Anomalous Entities, his Progress Bar could have risen even more. The more fear he absorbed, especially intense fear directed at him, the greater the boost it provided—enough to make him feel like he could bleed from his nose.
What?
Yelai's words were overheard by Captain of Team Seven and others who approached.
Was he not satisfied with his kills? The captain of Team Thirteen twitched at the corners of his mouth.
"Spare me; if a Rank Seven Anomalous Entity shows up, I might as well use the will I wrote when I joined the team."
They say that powerful Sequencers are all mad; now he truly understood that sentiment.
How strange; was he really a Puppet?
He seemed to be another type of Control Sequence; I noticed he lacked the Sequence Feature typical of Puppets.
They moved closer to Yelai, scrutinizing the supporter before them.
When they learned from the Captain of Team Seven that Yelai came from the Safe Zone, everyone was either stunned, incredulous, or thought they had misheard.
However, Yelai was unfazed by their surprise. He called over Gaze and the Rank affected by Fear Domination, Acupoint, and asked, "Is there any need for support at the Defense Point?"
Yelai's eyes sparkled with excitement. This was a perfect opportunity to absorb a large amount of fear, and he didn't want to miss it. He was eager to use this Anomalous Entity invasion of the Numbered Protection Zone to elevate his Rank to Eight.
"Do you still have the strength?" the Seventh Team Captain asked. But before he could finish his sentence, he fell silent at the sight of Yelai's fervent expression.
He changed his tone, "I'll ask for you."
"Good, please hurry," Yelai replied, his expression serious. "The Anomalous Entity invasion needs to be addressed quickly; every second of delay means loss of life."
"Too enthusiastic! Too kind!" The crowd was moved by Yelai's words. Given his character, he deserved to be a Higher Sequence Being, one team member who previously judged Yelai's Sequence as Puppet muttered.
The whispers among the group continued, but Yelai paid them no mind. His focus was on waiting for the Seventh Team Captain to contact Ena while glancing at Gaze, who was currently possessing the Husky.
One must give a sweet date after a slap. With Gaze's current loyalty, he felt it necessary to reward him. This large-scale invasion of the Numbered Protection Zone by Anomalous Entities presented an excellent opportunity for that reward.
After all, he might not be able to elevate his Rank to Eight this time; at least he could make some progress. However, Gaze had a chance to increase his Rank. He hadn't forgotten that Gaze's Rank was also about to rise.
