After all, his Sequence Side Effects stemmed from a greed for fear. He had released the Sequence Side Effects long ago during the Signal Point incident.
In other words, after taking Black Fairy Tale, he could temporarily enhance his own Sequence. While others would quickly perish from the Sequence Side Effects once the effects wore off, he would instead find himself empowered by his own greed for fear. The engine of the armored vehicle roared to life as it departed from Signal Point.
More than ten minutes later, the armored vehicle passed through the gates of the Safe Zone and drove inside.
Yelai opened the rooftop window and took a deep breath, instantly feeling invigorated. The air was thick with the scent of fear.
In the next moment, he realized that with a large-scale invasion of Entities into the Safe Zone, everyone inside would undoubtedly be afraid. After all, if the defenses of the Safe Zone were breached, they would face death—who wouldn’t be afraid?
Without any hesitation, he drove towards the Transmission Altar, greedily inhaling the scent of fear that permeated the air.
No matter which Safe Zone it was, the population was always in the tens of thousands. While he couldn't absorb all the fear emitted by the humans in a Safe Zone at once, there was still a significant amount of fear along the way. Unfortunately, he wasn't in a bustling urban area where the scent of fear would be even stronger.
Yelai murmured to himself. Despite his thoughts, he had no intention of going there. After all, the prosperous areas of a Safe Zone were bound to be located at its center. By the time he drove over, the scent of fear would have dissipated.
For now, he was absorbing the fear emanating from the shelters he passed by. As he approached the Teleportation Altar, Yelai noticed citizens emerging from a nearby gym close to the Transmission Altar. It seemed that the defense had ended, and everyone had received notification, each person wearing expressions of relief and joy after surviving.
Yelai paid little attention to them; his focus was entirely on sensing his Rank progress.
Unknowingly, relying on the overwhelming fear radiating from ordinary people, his progress surged dramatically. If he could instill fear in all humanity, he might reach Rank Eight in an instant—no, perhaps even Rank Nine.
Yelai felt a surge of joy as he tilted his head. Shortly after, he waited for a few minutes before receiving the blood of Bloody Mary of the Sequence Elixir and Black Fairy Tale sent by Su Qian's envoy. He then stepped onto the Teleportation Altar.
"Yelai, which Safe Zone are you heading to?" asked a Security personnel at the Transmission Altar.
"The Numbered Protection Zone," Yelai replied.
