Not only the villa itself, but even the surrounding environment was identical, with mountains and forests, and a lake in the distance. The two worlds seemed to be duplicates of each other. However, they were not completely the same. Here, the patterns of the leaves on the trees, the symmetry of the buildings, and even the text on the signs were all reversed, as if the two worlds were mirror images of one another.
In addition to this, in the location of the Numbered Protection Zone, strange figures wandered about. They resembled humans but left behind ghostly afterimages that looked like blood whenever they passed by, akin to the trails left by shooting stars. As they moved, their bodies cast crimson shadows.
Although they existed in this world, in the human realm—especially within Numbered Protection Zone—people were familiar with them and referred to them as "ghosts" or Anomalous Entity known as Bloody Mary.
At this moment, as Yelai unveiled the cloth covering the mirror and stared intently into its surface, something stirred.
For just a second, as Yelai gazed into the mirror, a Bloody Mary loitering near the villa sensed something. Its Eyeballs twisted unnaturally as it glanced around.
Tick-tock.
As time ticked by, when it reached a certain second, the Bloody Mary abruptly halted its gaze and turned sharply towards the villa, like a shark sensing blood in the water. Its form was ghostly, leaving behind red afterimages wherever it went.
Seconds passed.
When time reached the fourth second, it approached the villa like a specter and entered the house, making its way directly to the first-floor bathroom where it stood before the mirror.
In front of the mirror, it did not see its own reflection; instead, it was Yelai who appeared within it. Yelai was staring at the mirror while it stood in the mirrored world, watching Yelai intently.
Then, an eerie scene unfolded.
Staring into the mirror, Yelai watched as Bloody Mary appeared. The surface of the mirror rippled, and in an instant, it took on Yelai's form, mimicking not only his appearance but also his mannerisms and actions.
The reflection of Yelai blinked, and he instinctively blinked back.
He glanced at the clock.
Five seconds had passed since he began staring at the mirror.
Meanwhile, in the Numbered Protection Zone, Safe Zone Villa, in the bathroom, Yelai continued to gaze into the mirror as midnight approached. It seemed as though nothing was amiss; his reflection smiled back at him, mirroring his grin perfectly.
But deep down, he knew the truth.
Five seconds had elapsed, and the figure in the mirror was no longer him—it had been silently replaced by Bloody Mary.
The five-second gaze acted like a dimensional key, allowing Bloody Mary to open a gateway from the mirror world into the human realm.
At that moment, Yelai remained fixated on his reflection.
Both sides were locked in a stalemate.
It seemed that as long as Yelai did not turn his back to the mirror or reveal any weaknesses while facing it, Bloody Mary would remain patient and wait for an opportunity to strike.
This was typical behavior for Bloody Mary as an Anomalous Entity. They enjoyed imitating human actions and learning their behaviors, waiting for a moment of vulnerability to make their move—much like a tiger pouncing from behind its prey.
Bloody Mary's nature was no different.
