The Carousel was unaffected by the Sequence. He was particularly sensitive to the scent of fear, but the Black Carousel Horse emitted no trace of it.
As he approached the Black Carousel Horse, ready to bite his own hand, Yelai made a quick decision. He released his grip and, using his Rank 8 Unknown Horror's explosive power, leaped off the Black Carousel Horse and jumped toward another Carousel.
Attacking the Carousel proved ineffective; all he could do was evade.
Meanwhile, other visitors noticed this and chose to dodge as well. However, there were no support points on the spinning carousel—only Carousels themselves. With the carousel still spinning at high speed, if they didn’t find a support point, they would be flung off and crushed. The only option for the visitors was to jump onto another Carousel and hold on.
Soon after, Yelai and the others began jumping onto one Carousel to avoid being bitten by another, only to leap onto yet another one and face more bites.
Ah! One of them, previously bitten by an Anomalous Entity, screamed in agony. It seemed that part of its body—a hand—was lost while continuously jumping to evade one of the Carousels. As it landed on another Carousel, it was attacked again and lost its grip.
Without that support point on the Carousel, it was thrown off and smashed against a wall.
Though only a minute remained, for Yelai and the others, it felt like an eternity. The spinning speed increased continuously, causing their bodies to accelerate as well. If they miscalculated their jump strength, they would fail to reach another Carousel—and failing meant death. Even if they managed to jump onto one, they still had to avoid attacks from the Carousels; failing to evade also meant death.
And the danger didn’t stop there.
With time dwindling down to mere seconds, a loud bang echoed through the air. The Carousels began breaking apart! The number of Carousels went from several to just a few in mere seconds as one after another shattered.
Their living space was shrinking.
As the time approached the final second, only one Carousel remained. In those moments, with five Carousels still bouncing, every visitor, including Yelai, was too focused on jumping, stabilizing themselves, and dodging to pay attention to anyone else. In this situation, a new development occurred.
The Female Sequence Holder and Yelai jumped onto one Carousel. A Tongue Sequence Creature and another Anomalous Entity also landed on a different Carousel without any warning.
The Carousel they clung to seemed unable to accommodate two visitors and shattered under their weight.
In an instant, the single Carousel became one. In other words, with only four visitors left, the best-case scenario meant that only three could survive; one was destined to die.
In the face of life and death, all moral principles ceased to exist, and this moment was no exception. To survive, Yelai unleashed a wave of fear against the Female Sequence Holder.
At that moment, the Tongue Sequence Creature also erupted into action. To ensure absolute certainty, it held nothing back; not only did its tongue extend and elongate, but its arms also stretched out to grab a distant Carousel while its tongue whipped around to fling away the Anomalous Entity in front of it.
Ah!!
Ah!!
One scream was filled with terror, while the other was a desperate cry. The Female Sequence Holder and the Anomalous Entity lost their support and were flung into the wind wall by the rapidly spinning Carousel, shattering upon impact.
Yelai and the Tongue Sequence Creature then each jumped onto a separate Carousel. Theoretically, only one visitor could survive on each Carousel; ideally, one of the previous Carousels could have allowed two visitors to jump onto another together amicably.
Everything is theoretical.
Whether it is Yelai, the Female Sequence Holder, or the other two Anomalous Entities, none of them dared to assume that their respective visitors would be kind-hearted. They couldn't determine whether they should leave two on their side and one on the other, or one on their side and two on the other.
All they could do was find ways to fight for and expand their chances of survival.
Thunder rumbled.
Perhaps only a few seconds remained, or perhaps there were just two visitors left, the same number as in the previous batch. The Carousel ceased its attacks and stopped breaking apart.
Yelai and the Tongue Sequence Creature held onto the Carousel, surviving those final moments and emerging from the ride unscathed.
