In the urban area of Longhai City, the Official Shelter, which was once a safe haven, was now experiencing a heart-stopping rebellion.
In a conference room at the command center of the shelter, bodies lay scattered across the floor. A middle-aged man stood there, his face twisted with anger as one of his trusted subordinates held a gun to his head.
"Qin Hong, you actually colluded with those social parasites from Snow Wolf Base! I, Mu Guoxing, have been blind to your true nature! I even promoted you!"
A smirk crept onto Qin Hong's lips as he replied with a feigned smile, "Old Mu, those who know how to adapt are the true heroes. Your old ways are outdated. With the situation outside being what it is, do you really think you can still impose your old rules on us? That's impossible; you need to learn to be flexible."
Mu Guoxing's eyes widened in disbelief as he shouted at Qin Hong, "The rules and order of the shelter are meant to protect everyone's lives! Your actions are nothing but self-destruction!"
Qin Hong let out a cold laugh, dismissing Mu Guoxing's words. "Old Mu, you're too naive. In this apocalypse, only the strong can survive. The shelter can only become a true sanctuary under my control. I believe those above won't blame me for this; just take it easy and rest. I'll manage this shelter even better than you did."
Mu Guoxing's face turned pale with rage; his eyes were filled with anger and disappointment as he slammed his hands on the table, creating a loud bang. "Even if you want to take control of the shelter, there was no need to kill so many people! These people in this conference room were your comrades! How could you be so ruthless?"
His voice trembled, revealing deep pain and despair within him. However, Qin Hong merely laughed dismissively. "Old fool, if it weren't for your stubbornness in wanting to eradicate Snow Wolf Base, I wouldn't have acted so quickly. This is all your doing!" His gaze was cold and unfeeling, as if he felt no remorse for the dead.
Then Qin Hong added, "Besides, if I don't eliminate these people, those outside will learn of my intentions. How can I maintain control over the shelter then? The only way to ensure my plans go smoothly is to silence them forever. So don't blame me; blame yourselves for being too naive to see the cruel reality of this world."
With that, Qin Hong looked at Mu Guoxing triumphantly, his eyes glinting with cunning light. "Someone! Lock up this traitor Mu Guoxing! No one is allowed to visit him!"
Just then, a subordinate rushed in from outside, panic evident in their voice:
"Chief, no, Leader, it's bad! Mu Wan has escaped with a part of the group!"
Qin Hong's face twisted with rage upon hearing this. "What? Didn't I order you to control them in advance? How could she escape? Useless! A bunch of useless fools!"
The trembling subordinate replied, "Leader, it seems she knew something in advance. By the time we got there, she had already run away!"
Qin Hong slammed his fist on the table, gritting his teeth as he said, "Damn it! Someone must have leaked information! Immediately send someone to find out who let the news slip!"
