"What is that?" 0

A few villagers were searching for tent poles at the mountain top when one of them noticed an open space—Lu Xiaoran's safe house. With a look of surprise, he called his companions over to take a look. 0

"I can't tell either. How about we go closer and check it out?" 0

The villagers, unable to discern what the structure was for, suggested they all move in for a better look. Clutching the dry branches and sticks they had just gathered, they approached Lu Xiaoran's safe house. 0

They circled around the safe house, their faces filled with confusion; they had never seen a building like this before. The structure resembled half of an olive-shaped football embedded in the ground, with no visible doors or windows. 0

The exterior was painted a bright crimson color, giving it an unusual sheen. After observing for a while, one villager took out a stick he had just picked up and tentatively tapped on the wall. 0

Inside, Lu Xiaoran was monitoring the outside through a pinhole camera he had set up. He noticed several people milling around outside his safe house. Judging by their clothing, he guessed they were from the village at the foot of the mountain. 0

It seemed their village had been engulfed by toxic gas, prompting them to seek refuge in the mountains. When Lu Xiaoran saw someone tapping on the wall of his safe house with a stick, he didn't pay much attention. The walls were forty centimeters thick, providing exaggerated soundproofing; even if they were dancing outside, he wouldn't hear a thing inside. 0

What exactly is this thing? He thought to himself. Perhaps he should mention it to Wang Ren later. 0

After some time without any clarity on what the structure was, the villagers turned and gradually disappeared from the camera's view. Lu Xiaoran tossed his monitoring phone onto the table beside him. He had little interest in these villagers; as long as they didn’t provoke him, he had no intention of bothering with them. 0

"Did you say there's a building over there?" Wang Fugui asked, looking at the villagers with surprise. "It might not necessarily be a dwelling; it could be something like a warehouse—definitely man-made." 0

The leading villager briefly described the appearance of the safe house to Wang Fugui. 0

"Take me to see it." 0

Hearing about it wasn't enough; Wang Fugui wanted to see it for himself. When they reached the safe house, he squinted his eyes and examined it closely. 0

He pondered silently in his heart: what this house was for was still unclear, but without doors or windows, it couldn't possibly be meant for living. Wang Fugui recalled that not long ago, in March, a young man had contracted this Dragon Ridge Mountain. This desolate mountain had previously belonged to their Village Collective. As the representative of the Village Collective, Wang Fugui had signed the contract with that young man. Could it be that the young fellow was building something here? Wang Fugui mused to himself. 0

After confirming repeatedly that there were no entrances to this building, Wang Fugui led everyone away from the safe house. They needed to set up their tents before nightfall; there wasn't much time to waste here. At that moment, on the open ground at the mountain's peak, over a hundred villagers were already there, using branches they had just gathered to erect tents. They cut the branches to suitable lengths and then secured them with ropes and torn cloth, creating the framework for the tents. 0
