The Sneaky Man walked briskly past Lu Xiaoran, holding a scythe. He pressed the tip of the scythe against Lu Xiaoran's Hazmat Suit and scraped it hard a couple of times, curious to see if the robot would react. To his surprise, there were no marks left where the blade had passed; the dark armor looked as pristine as ever.
Feeling puzzled, the Sneaky Man decided to test the robot's durability further. He raised the scythe high above his head, gathering all his strength, preparing to strike down on Lu Xiaoran. At that moment, Lu Xiaoran quickly raised his hand, and in an instant, a gleaming handgun appeared in his grip. He aimed the gun directly at the man's face.
The man was caught off guard, frozen in place with his scythe held aloft, unable to comprehend what was happening.
Bang!
With a deafening gunshot, the man's body seemed to lose control as he fell straight to the ground. Bright red blood gushed from the hole in his head, staining the earth beneath him.
"That guy has a gun! Everyone retreat!" Wang Fugui was the first to react, shouting to the other villagers.
The villagers snapped back to reality as they realized that the young man had just been shot dead. Looking at Lu Xiaoran's smoking gun, they no longer dared to stay put; they turned and fled like startled birds.
Lu Xiaoran walked away without looking back, pressing a remote control to open the outer door of the safe house before stepping inside.
Moments later, Wang Fugui returned breathlessly with a dozen villagers from where they had set up tents in the northern part of the clearing. Fear and shock filled their eyes; just moments ago, one of their companions had been killed right before them. Witnessing such a scene had left many trembling uncontrollably.
Wang Fugui's expression was serious as he lowered his head to contemplate what had just happened. He felt that it was impossible for a robot to have fired that gun; current technology couldn't create robots capable of such actions. If that were true, then it must have been an Armored Person. However, Wang Fugui had previously sent someone to check, and there were no gaps connecting that safe house to the outside world.
He found it hard to understand how a living person could survive in that airtight room. At that moment, Wang Fugui recalled the Armored Person emerging from the house, holding two bags in hand. Later, he walked over to the open space and tossed those two bags aside. Perhaps there were some clues to be found among the discarded items.
Wang Fugui arranged for a few people to go down the slope and retrieve the two bags of trash that Lu Xiaoran had thrown away earlier. As they handed the garbage over to him, Wang Fugui carefully examined each item within.
