Lu Xiaoran had let his guard down, no longer paying attention to the surroundings of the safe house. The safe house boasted near-perfect soundproofing, and just a few days ago, those Outsiders from the South had been cutting through the outer walls with various advanced equipment.
Although the mechanical noises outside were deafening, inside the safe house, not a single sound could be heard. Therefore, Lu Xiaoran was completely unaware that a group of uninvited guests had come to covet the food in his home. He still thought that it was just the villagers from Dragon Ridge Village digging beneath his house.
A look of helplessness crossed Lu Xiaoran's face as he waved his hand dismissively, muttering to himself, "These people are really persistent; it's quite impressive." While he didn't know who was digging under his house, he understood what he needed to do now. According to the alarm prompt from the control panel earlier, these people were likely right beneath where he had installed the Aerospace Engine.
In this situation, there was no need for him to exert extra effort running outside. All he had to do was press a button to activate the Aerospace Engine, and he could incinerate these intruders. It was freezing outside; perfect for roasting them a little.
A cold smile crept onto Lu Xiaoran's lips as he pressed a few buttons on the control panel and activated the Aerospace Engine. At that moment, the people outside were completely unaware of the impending danger, still swinging their shovels and striking at the Aerospace Engine.
Suddenly, crimson flames erupted from the exhaust of the Aerospace Engine, illuminating the ground as brightly as day. The intruders barely had time to react before they were engulfed by the flames. The ones at the front caught fire completely, writhing and screaming in agony. Those standing further back were slightly luckier; only their upper bodies caught fire.
The unfortunate souls rolled on the ground in a desperate attempt to extinguish the flames consuming them. After a few seconds, the flames spewing from the Aerospace Engine subsided. The ground returned to darkness, leaving behind a few charred bodies smoldering with embers and others stumbling out in a daze.
"What happened? Are you hurt?" As several burned individuals crawled out from underground, people nearby gathered around, eager to find out what had transpired.
The house below was spewing fire... Five people had already been burned to death.
A young man, covered in mud, pointed at the ground, his voice trembling as he explained. His left arm had also been scorched by the flames, though he had managed to extinguish the fire. However, his skin was severely burned, and the dark red wounds looked terrifying.
The crowd exchanged glances, feeling a chill run down their spines. Looking at the horrifying injuries on the survivors, they understood the gravity of the situation. If they continued to attack this safe house, not only would they have no chance of success, but they could also lose their own lives.
"Let's go. This house is too terrifying; I don't want to end up like them," one of them said.
"Yeah. We can't break into this house anyway; there's no point in dragging this out," another agreed.
Many began to pack their things, gathering the tools they had brought up the mountain, and moved away from the safe house towards an open area to the north.
