Attempting to channel the energy within, Lu Xiaoran felt the temperature of his body rapidly decreasing. However, this chill brought him no discomfort; instead, he sensed that his bodily functions were returning to normal.
Lu Xiaoran returned to the house, picked up a glass of water, and dipped his index finger into it. Within seconds, the warm water began to freeze rapidly. Soon, the glass itself was encased in a solid block of ice.
He then fetched another glass of water. This time, he did not touch it directly but gestured towards it from a distance. However, after a minute of gesturing, the water remained unfrozen. At this point, Lu Xiaoran confirmed that this Freezing Ability indeed required direct contact with the water to freeze it into ice.
Having replicated a second Ability, he felt confident that it wouldn't be long before he could seek revenge on that research facility. A satisfied smile spread across Lu Xiaoran's face as he relaxed against the living room sofa.
After resting for a while, Lu Xiaoran set out again to search for the next Ability user. However, the number of Ability users was still too few; after several days of searching, he had yet to find another one.
That afternoon, after finishing a morning of searching, Lu Xiaoran was preparing to return to his safe house for lunch when a gunshot suddenly rang out from a nearby residential building.
Having used firearms himself in the past, Lu Xiaoran recognized that this was not the sound of firecrackers but rather the distinct noise of a handgun being fired. He immediately heightened his alertness and carefully listened for the direction of the sound.
Another gunshot echoed from the building. This time, Lu Xiaoran pinpointed its location and quickly activated his Flying Ability, soaring towards the source of the noise.
Upon reaching the room, Lu Xiaoran hovered outside the window and observed the situation inside. On the floor lay three corpses; judging by their wounds, they had all been shot dead. Inside the room were two Sneaky Men rummaging through drawers and cabinets in search of something.
Both of them had a handgun strapped to their waists, and it seemed that the three people on the ground had been shot by them. I thought they were up to something serious, but it turned out to be just a robbery.
Lu Xiaoran shook his head in disappointment. He was looking for Ability users, and those two were clearly just ordinary robbers. Although it surprised him that they were armed, he didn't feel the need to confront them for clarification.
Wait, why does that one person look a bit off? Just as Lu Xiaoran was about to turn away from the window, he noticed the taller of the two robbers. In stark contrast to his accomplice, this man showed no signs of any rash on his face or body. It was as if he had never been affected by toxic gas; he appeared to be in excellent health.
