Following the trail of blood on the floor, Lu Xiaoran stepped out of the doorway and began his search down the stairs.
He quickly noticed that the blood, which slithered along the ground like a snake, turned at the corner of the second-floor staircase and entered the hallway.
Standing at the top of the stairs, Lu Xiaoran tilted his head to listen carefully for any sounds coming from within. Soon enough, he heard a man's weak gasps; it seemed that the robber was indeed hiding in the hallway.
Now on the second floor, the air was thick with toxic gas, and a faint yellow haze blurred his vision.
It was no surprise that Lu Xiaoran was unaffected by the poison. The protective gear he wore provided an absolute seal against such threats. He had no concern that any toxins could penetrate his gear and harm him. However, it was strange that the robber also appeared to be unharmed by the gas.
If he were just an ordinary person, he would have been coughing violently in such a high concentration of poison. Yet, all that could be heard from the hallway was his hurried breathing from running too fast.
Lu Xiaoran hesitated for a moment, debating whether to enter the hallway and take out the robber with his submachine gun. He slowly approached the corner of the hallway to confirm the robber's position.
Bang!
Before Lu Xiaoran could see what lay around the corner, a deafening gunshot rang out. The bullet struck the wall at the corner, shattering bricks and sending fragments clattering to the ground.
"Little brat, if you dare come over here, I'll blow your head off!" shouted the robber from his position on the floor, hands raised with a gun in a show of bravado.
Earlier, he had been standing far from the window in his room, and thanks to his quick reflexes, he had narrowly avoided being hit by Lu Xiaoran's gunfire. However, his left arm had been grazed by a bullet and was now bleeding profusely.
Sitting on the ground, the robber nervously peered around the corner of the hallway, having caught a glimpse of Lu Xiaoran's shadow reflected on the wall.
If Lu Xiaoran were to enter the hallway, he would surely be shot dead by the Submachine Gun. Therefore, he needed to take the initiative and shoot first.
Lu Xiaoran thought to himself that if he charged in directly, he could potentially be hit by the robber's gun. If he could use his Freezing Ability here to freeze the robber, he wouldn't have to risk a direct confrontation.
However, the Freezing Ability he had acquired previously only worked after coming into contact with water. The robber was currently around the corner in the hallway, and without contact, he couldn't activate his Freezing Ability.
Lu Xiaoran looked around. He noticed a red Fire Hydrant on the wall to his left. Such fire hydrants were equipped in every residential building for residents to use in case of a fire.
He opened the Fire Hydrant, connected a hose, and pressed the activation button. Instantly, a large amount of water flowed out from the hose. Lu Xiaoran aimed the hose at the corner of the hallway, directing the water towards the direction of the thief.
