Just as Tang Mo was chattering away with Lu Xiaoran, Yang Yin suddenly interrupted their conversation.
"Hey, look over there. It seems like someone is coming," he said, raising his hand to point out the car window.
Tang Mo and Lu Xiaoran turned their heads to follow his finger. In front of their car, to the left, a shadow was slowly moving forward.
Lu Xiaoran squinted, carefully examining the shadow. Soon enough, he recognized it as a van similar to the one that had tailgated him earlier.
He thought to himself, It seems Yang Yin was right after all. The people in that vehicle must belong to the same organization as those four from last time. They are probably here looking for their missing companions.
Last time, he had acted too quickly and had taken out those four individuals in hazmat suits before he could extract any information about their identities. Now that their companions had returned, this was an opportunity he couldn't afford to miss.
This time, Lu Xiaoran was determined to uncover their identities.
"We need to get out of the car now. The leader said we have to capture these people and bring them back to the shelter," Yang Yin said as he donned his gas mask and retrieved the handgun that Zhang Kaiwen had given him earlier.
He then pushed open the car door and stepped out. Tang Mo and Lu Xiaoran followed closely behind, exiting the vehicle as well.
"Let's crouch down here and avoid being spotted," Yang Yin whispered to Tang Mo and Lu Xiaoran as he leaned down, taking cover behind the back of the car.
At that moment, the van was slowly approaching them from about ten meters away.
The air was thick with a pale yellow toxic gas, and even from a distance of several meters, only a vague outline could be seen.
Yang Yin, Lu Xiaoran, and Tang Mo crouched behind the car, carefully observing the movements of the people ahead. Soon, the van came to a stop not far in front of them.
Three individuals emerged from the van one after another. They circled around the two cars that had previously collided, inspecting them for a moment before bending down to search for something on the ground.
Before long, they discovered the bodies lying on the ground. They whispered among themselves, unsure of what was being said. At that moment, one of them pulled out a phone, seemingly intending to take pictures of the corpses.
Bang!
With a deafening gunshot, the three individuals clad in Hazmat suits were startled and immediately scrambled back toward the van they had arrived in. The shot had been fired by Yang Yin. He had aimed for one person's head, but lacking experience with firearms, he missed entirely.
Not only that, but the sudden gunfire had alarmed the trio, making them aware that someone was lying in wait for them.
"I'm reporting to headquarters now; you two quickly get your guns out and don't let him get close to our vehicle," one of the Hazmat-suited individuals shouted to his companions.
