Lu Xiaoran slowly descended from the air, landing about six or seven meters behind the car where Yang Yin was.
As his feet touched the ground, Lu Xiaoran quietly moved forward and soon appeared in Yang Yin's line of sight.
"Lu Xiaoran, where did you just run off to?" Yang Yin immediately asked, alert upon seeing Lu Xiaoran approach nonchalantly.
Lu Xiaoran feigned embarrassment, scratching his head as he replied, "I got a bit scared when I heard the gunshots, so I just stepped back a few paces. After all, I don't have a gun, so I couldn't help you guys by staying here."
Both Yang Yin and Tang Mo had received handguns from Zhang Kaiwen, while Lu Xiaoran had arrived empty-handed. Zhang Kaiwen clearly did not trust him and, as a key subject under surveillance, it was impossible for him to be given any weapons. Thus, Lu Xiaoran used this excuse to say he couldn't assist because he lacked a gun.
"Oh? Is that so?" Yang Yin stepped closer, scrutinizing Lu Xiaoran carefully. It was evident that his excuse did not convince Yang Yin; he still suspected that Lu Xiaoran might have been up to something behind the scenes.
Standing about a meter away from Lu Xiaoran, Yang Yin raised his gun, the dark muzzle aimed directly at Lu Xiaoran's forehead. "I say, kid, you’re not trying to pull any tricks on me, are you?"
Lu Xiaoran raised his hands in a gesture of surrender and explained to Yang Yin, "I really haven't done anything. If you don't believe me, you can search me for anything suspicious."
Yang Yin lowered his gun and took a step forward, rummaging through Lu Xiaoran's pockets but found nothing suspicious.
Looking up with a furrowed brow, Yang Yin said, "Lu Xiaoran, I advise you not to play any clever games. Next time, without my permission, you can't leave my line of sight; otherwise, I'll consider it a betrayal. Don't say I didn't warn you."
After this threat, Yang Yin got into the car with Tang Mo and closed the door behind them. Once Lu Xiaoran also got in the car, the three of them drove back to Fog Mountain Sanctuary.
Upon returning to his room 302, Lu Xiaoran locked the door and sat on the edge of his bed while checking his phone. He opened an app to review the tracking data of their location.
Lu Xiaoran noticed that after they left their previous position, the tracker moved westward and then made two turns northward. Since 9:20 PM, the tracker had not moved again; it seemed to have stopped there.
At this location, it should be the lair of those people.
Lu Xiaoran compared the location with the map. Soon, he was astonished to discover that the pinpointed location was exactly where he had been trying to find—the Yi Research Institute.
He never expected it to be that particular research institute. Lu Xiaoran had already clarified the location of the Yi Research Institute last month, and now, based on the map's display, he recognized it at a glance.
It seemed that this research institute was indeed not simple.
Lu Xiaoran lowered his head, lost in thought. He had previously suspected that there might be a very powerful organization pulling the strings behind this research institute. Now it appeared that this possibility was indeed quite high.
