As Chen Li opened his eyes, he was greeted by two faces, one large and one small—those of Tai Xu Zhenzi and Shen Qingyue, both filled with concern.
"Brother, how are you?" Shen Qingyue leaned closer to Chen Li, her small face eager with anticipation.
"Hehe, with me on the job, it's a piece of cake," Chen Li replied, raising an eyebrow with a hint of pride in his voice.
Shen Qingyue couldn't help but roll her eyes at him, feeling a bit exasperated. Always showing off!
Chen Li was already accustomed to the disdainful and resentful looks from Shen Qingyue. With a thought, he grinned and pointed into the air. Suddenly, a small creature covered in spikes appeared before him.
"Hedgehog, come say hello to everyone," Chen Li gently patted the hedgehog's head and said with a smile.
"Hello, everyone!" the hedgehog squeaked in a timid voice.
Shen Qingyue looked at the fluffy little creature covered in spikes and immediately felt her heart melt. Her big, watery eyes sparkled with affection.
"It's so cute!" Although she was the reincarnation of an Empress, her childlike body still retained some youthful innocence. Unable to resist, she reached out her finger and gently poked the hedgehog's head.
Hiss!
The hedgehog was startled by Shen Qingyue's sudden action; its spikes stood on end as it hissed, seemingly warning her to stay away.
"Hahaha!" Chen Li couldn't help but burst into laughter at the sight.
Shen Qingyue's face flushed red from embarrassment at the hedgehog's reaction, making her even angrier. How could such a cute little creature recognize her roguish brother as its master? It was so unfair!
Meanwhile, Tai Xu Zhenzi's Divine Soul had been silent until now. Witnessing this scene, disbelief flickered in his murky eyes.
He looked at Chen Li and stammered, "You... you really signed a contract with a Heavenly Guardian Beast?"
He had thought that Chen Li was merely comforting them, but he never expected that he had actually done it.
Chen Li nodded at Tai Xu Zhenzi and said earnestly, "Old man, are you convinced now?"
Upon hearing this, Tai Xu Zhenzi's expression grew even more excited; tears glimmered faintly in his cloudy eyes.
He gazed intently at Chen Li and pleaded earnestly, "Young friend, if you can gain the recognition of a Heavenly Guardian Beast, then you must be the chosen one. I have a request for you—please consider the plight of the common people and agree to my request!"
Chen Li frowned slightly; he hadn't anticipated that the previously composed Tai Xu Zhenzi would become so serious and earnest.
Chen Li looked at him, his tone becoming serious. "Old man, don't be so stern. Let's get to the point."
Tai Xu Zhenzi took a deep breath and slowly said, "Young friend, Old Madam hopes you can help her find the token of the Four Saints to completely destroy the Demon Heart! Otherwise, once the Demon King is born, the world will change drastically, and no one will escape the Catastrophe."
"Didn't you already have Chen Ming and the others help?" Chen Li had no desire to get involved in such troublesome matters.
"I'm just a minor Cultivator. How could I possibly become a Saint in such a short time? I can't do this!"
"No, young friend, you can definitely do it!" Tai Xu Zhenzi was slightly agitated. "Even the Heavenly Guardian Beast recognizes you as its master. If you can't do it, then no one in this world can!"
"There's no need to flatter me; I'm not falling for that!" Although Chen Li felt somewhat swayed, he pondered for a moment and still chose to refuse.
"Young friend, just consider it as Old Madam begging you! Think of it as a favor for Old Madam informing you about the Heavenly Guardian Beast. Please agree!" As he spoke, Tai Xu Zhenzi's Divine Soul body bowed deeply to Chen Li.
Seeing this, Chen Li felt a mix of emotions. A powerful Saint had his own dignity and pride. The fact that this old man would bow to him showed genuine sincerity.
Faced with Tai Xu Zhenzi's demeanor, he found it hard to voice his refusal.
"Fine, I agree." Chen Li sighed heavily.
"Great! Old Madam thanks you once again for your assistance!" Upon hearing this, Tai Xu Zhenzi was immediately overwhelmed with emotion.
"Old man, there's no need to be so polite with me. If it weren't for your sacrifice to guard this place, I wouldn't help you this time. But remember, this favor will need to be repaid in the future!" Chen Li said seriously.
Tai Xu Zhenzi nodded repeatedly. "Of course!"
Chen Li remained straightforward and opened his hand. "Words alone won't suffice; you'd better write it down!"
Tai Xu Zhenzi's Divine Soul Power stirred, evaporating his tears of gratitude. It seemed he had been too emotional too soon. This kid was young but clever like a little fox!
He knew that once this kid asked for something, there was no way he could avoid it. Immediately, he conveniently drafted a document and handed it over to Chen Li.
Chen Li finally satisfied, tucked away the document and looked at him with a grin, asking, "Do you have anything else to discuss?"
Tai Xu Zhenzi shook his head, his Divine Soul growing even weaker. Perhaps it was because he had nearly completed everything he wanted to do; his tone had become significantly frailer.
"My young friend, Old Madam doesn't have much time left. Without the Heavenly Guardian Beast, my Divine Soul won't hold out for long. This space will close soon; you should leave."
Chen Li was taken aback, finally noticing that Tai Xu Zhenzi's Divine Soul was more ethereal than before.
"Old man," a sense of foreboding surged within Chen Li.
"There's no need to worry. Old Madam is merely temporarily sealing her Divine Soul, resting here for now. Being able to entrust the Heavenly Guardian Beast to you before falling into slumber again has already satisfied Old Madam. I hope that when we meet next time, it will be you two who awaken Old Madam!" Tai Xu Zhenzi said with a smile, his tone filled with anticipation and relief.
Chen Li's mood darkened momentarily; he nodded gently. "Don't worry, we will return to find you as soon as possible."
Tai Xu Zhenzi's Divine Soul continued to weaken, but his expression was noticeably happier. He couldn't help but remind them once more, "My young friends, as long as the Demon Heart remains, the human realm will never know peace. You must find the tokens of the Four Saints and completely destroy the Demon Heart!"
As his words fell, Tai Xu Zhenzi's Divine Soul had become nearly transparent.
Chen Li solemnly nodded. "Old man, we remember. Farewell!" Saying this, he deeply bowed to Tai Xu Zhenzi.
While he spoke confidently, deep down he truly admired him.
Chen Li watched as Tai Xu Zhenzi's Divine Soul fell into slumber before taking Shen Qingyue's hand, preparing to leave.
Shen Qingyue softly reminded him, "Brother, we don't have a flying vessel. How do we leave?"
Chen Li smiled mysteriously. "Who said we can't leave without a flying vessel?"
As he spoke, he tapped the hedgehog on its head. "Hedgehog, quickly summon a flying beast to carry us away from here."
The hedgehog blinked its big eyes and opened its small mouth slightly, instantly creating an invisible vortex.
Moments later, an unknown number of flying beasts appeared before them, trembling in fear.
