With a flick of his sleeve, Chen Li gathered a dozen pieces of Supreme Spirit Crystal into his pouch before turning to walk out of the cave. Shen Qingyue followed closely behind, glancing back at the massive Spirit Crystal Vein with reluctance. She murmured, "Aren't you going to take a bit more? This stuff is valuable; the more, the better!"
Chen Li turned his head, giving her a sidelong glance that was half-smile, half-tease. "You little greedy one, why didn't you take more yourself?"
Shen Qingyue's cheeks flushed as she pouted, "I have enough."
Chen Li nodded and raised his hand to cast an invisibility barrier, concealing the entire cave. "Exactly! Since we know it's a treasure, we shouldn't over-exploit it."
This Spiritual Vein was the foundation of the Azure Wind Mountain Range. If it were completely drained, the Spiritual Energy of the entire mountain range would wither away, and countless living beings would suffer as a result.
Shen Qingyue was taken aback by his words. Tilting her head, she looked at Chen Li with a glimmer of contemplation in her eyes. "How do you know all this?"
Chen Li shrugged and replied casually, "Isn't it common sense?"
Common sense? Shen Qingyue scoffed slightly, her expression turning bitter. If everyone knew these things, they wouldn't have tried to kill me.
A hint of pain and weariness crossed her delicate face as memories flooded back. He was clearly her fiancé, and he was supposed to be her best friend; yet both had harbored resentment over how resources were distributed.
If they understood her feelings, would they have still tried to end her life?
Chen Li stared blankly at Shen Qingyue for a moment before reaching out to flick her forehead. "Stop overthinking it. Let's hurry up and leave; we don't want any more trouble."
Shen Qingyue covered her forehead and shot him an annoyed glare but obediently followed him nonetheless.
Once outside the cave, Shen Qingyue glanced back at the Seven-Colored Radiance that Chen Li had concealed and couldn't help but ask, "Brother, since you know there's such a large Spirit Crystal Mine here, why not tell Lin Xuan so everyone can gather some Spirit Crystals?"
Chen Li halted his steps and turned to look at Shen Qingyue with a playful smirk. "My silly sister, do you really think if they knew about this Supreme Spirit Crystal Mine, they'd just quietly take a small portion like us?"
Shen Qingyue paused for a moment before realizing what he meant. Her cheeks flushed slightly as understanding dawned on her.
Greed knows no bounds. Chen Li shook his head and continued, "If they knew there were so many Supreme Spirit Crystals here, they'd go mad trying to grab them all! At that point, forget about the Azure Wind Mountain Range's Spiritual Energy; there wouldn't even be a hair left!"
Shen Qingyue looked at Chen Li's serious expression in surprise, feeling a sudden jolt in her heart.
She had always thought of Chen Li as carefree and somewhat irresponsible. Yet here he was, articulating such profound truths as if he could see through the complexities of human nature.
"Since you know so much, why did you sneak me here?" Shen Qingyue asked curiously, gazing up at him with cautious intrigue in her eyes. "Aren't you afraid I might be greedy too and try to empty this place of its Spirit Crystals?"
Chen Li stopped in his tracks and turned to look at Shen Qingyue, a hint of helplessness in his eyes as he flicked her forehead. "Are you silly? You're my sister!"
Shen Qingyue covered her forehead, her expression dazed. Sister. For some reason, hearing that title made a warm current flow through her heart.
As Chen Li and Shen Qingyue returned to their camp, the setting sun cast its golden rays over the Azure Wind Mountain Range, gilding the forest with a shimmering light. A bonfire had already been lit at the campsite, where several Imperial Academy students were gathered in small groups, their faces beaming with joy, clearly having had a fruitful day.
"Chen Li, Shen Qingyue, you two are finally back!" A senior brother approached them enthusiastically. "How did it go? Did you find anything?"
"Not bad, we were quite lucky and found some decent spirit herbs." Chen Li grinned as he raised the cloth bag in his hand, which contained a few ordinary spirit herbs he had intentionally set aside to appease others' curiosity.
"Heh, I knew you were clever enough to dig up some good stuff!" The senior brother chuckled, his eyes narrowing playfully. "You're practically our lucky star!"
Shen Qingyue watched Chen Li handle the surrounding chatter with ease and couldn't help but smile inwardly. This guy, clearly possessing an unfathomable talent for treasure hunting, still pretended to be clueless. It was truly hard to see through him.
The senior brother was named Li Dazhuang, true to his name—he was robust and straightforward in character. He chuckled as he pulled out a wooden box from his robe and handed it to Chen Li.
"Chen Li, this is a Blood Ginseng I found this time. It's very beneficial for enhancing cultivation. Take it!"
Chen Li was taken aback for a moment before shaking his head with a smile. "Brother Dazhuang, what do you mean by this? You should keep it for your own cultivation."
But Li Dazhuang firmly shoved the wooden box into Chen Li's hands and feigned displeasure. "What are you being polite for? If it weren't for your help earlier, we would have been trampled into meat paste by those beasts! You saved our lives; what’s a mere herb compared to that?"
Chen Li wanted to refuse again, but Li Dazhuang threw an arm around his shoulder and laughed heartily. "Alright then! Who are we kidding here? Just take it!"
The surrounding Imperial Academy students chimed in, urging Chen Li to accept the gift.
"Yeah, Chen Li, just take it! Brother Li is right; we’re all friends here!"
"If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have found these treasures either—so don’t be polite with us!"
"If you keep refusing, Brother Dazhuang might get angry!"
Watching this scene unfold beside her, Shen Qingyue felt a sense of wonder. She had thought the Imperial Academy students were self-centered and arrogant but was surprised to see how united and caring they were towards Chen Li.
Chen Li graciously accepted the Blood Ginseng, a smile on his face. It was as if a floodgate had opened; other students eagerly began to present their treasured Spiritual Herbs to Chen Li and Shen Qingyue.
"Chen Li, this is the Ice Spirit Flower I found. It can be used for alchemy and consumption. Please take it!"
"Sister Shen Qingyue, this is the Snow Lotus Seed I found. It can enhance beauty and nourish the skin. I give it to you!"
Before long, a pile of various rare Spiritual Herbs had accumulated in front of Chen Li and Shen Qingyue. The vibrant colors and radiant glow illuminated their faces, creating an enchanting scene.
