"This is sugar, sweet and delicious, isn't it?" Sang Qingxiao asked, expecting no response as she turned to Qi Xiaomian. When it followed the Old Demon, it had only eaten hearts and drank human blood. Its appetite was small; one heart could last it for many days. Fortunately, it was locked in the Cold Pool underground, and even when it ate its last meal, it was just a bit rotten. Today must be the first time it knew what sweetness was; how pitiful. "I'll go get you something to eat; the little one is still hungry." 0

When Sang Qingxiao returned with a tray, Qi Xiaomian was helping the Little Fox Demon tend to an old wound on its wrist caused by chains. 0

For the Late Night Snack, there was Minced Meat Mushroom Vegetable Porridge, a plate of Scallion Chicken, cold dishes of Braised Beef and Plum Spare Ribs, along with Sour Green Beans and Fermented Bean Curd among other small dishes. Considering that eating too much at night could lead to indigestion, she prepared easy-to-digest porridge, setting out two bowls—one large and one small. 0

Sang Qingxiao smiled and asked, "Is this enough?" If only there were some steamed buns to go with it. 0

When the buns arrived, Qi Xiaomian caught a whiff of rich milk fragrance. Made with milk, the buns were incredibly soft and had a hint of sweetness; they could be enjoyed on their own without any side dishes. 0

Not just the buns, Sang Qingxiao squatted down and pulled out a small jar from under the counter. Upon opening it, a sweet and spicy fish aroma wafted out. Inside were Little Fish, about an inch long, fried until dry then stir-fried—Red Oil Preserved Fish that could last for days without spoiling. 0

Sang Qingxiao loved to stuff this kind of Dried Fish into the buns. The soft bun paired with the crispy initial crunch of the Dried Fish followed by its chewy texture created a rich layering of flavors that didn’t overwhelm even if eaten in excess. 0

Qi Xiaomian imitated her and took one; there was no fishy taste at all—it was indeed quite good. 0

Seeing the Little Fox Demon wanting to eat but hesitating, swallowing nervously, Sang Qingxiao felt a pang of sympathy. She took a clean bowl and put some porridge in it before tasting it herself with exaggerated smacking sounds to show how good it was. 0

Then she took another small bowl and brought it to the Little Fox Demon’s mouth. Ultimately able to suppress its cautious nature from its past life, the Little Fox Demon couldn’t resist anymore. After licking a spoonful, it became insatiable and complained that Sang Qingxiao was feeding too slowly. It grabbed her fingers with its tiny hands, making little noises urging her on. 0

Sang Qingxiao decided to let it have the bowl; she spilled only twice while most of the porridge ended up in its mouth. After finishing what was in the bowl, it wanted to lick up what had spilled on the table, but Sang Qingxiao stopped it. 0

With her left hand, she stuffed a milk bun into its mouth while her right handed it a large chicken leg. It was too much all at once; the little fox was so flustered that it didn’t know how to open its mouth. 0

Later that evening when they intercepted Huang Hai from the Demon Catching Family, Qi Xiaomian felt slightly better after having filled her stomach. They resumed their conversation. Relying on his family background made him arrogant. Although I had already reported last night's incident to his superior, judging by their reaction, this matter would likely go unresolved. 0

Huang Hai had a strong desire for revenge; you need to be careful. 0

The Demon Catching Family? The Eastern State Huang Family? The ancestor of the Huang Family is merely a mid-level Spirit Master—not worth fearing. Moreover, I've heard this ancestor won't live much longer; it's only a matter of time before the Huang Family declines. 0

Qi Xiaomian glanced at Sang Qingxiao; from her tone, she seemed to look down on even mid-level Spirit Masters. "Then what level are you?" 0

My cultivation path is different from theirs, and I cannot be evaluated using their standards. As far as I know, Zhong Kui is merely a high-ranking Celestial Master. 0
