Sang Qingxiao continued, explaining what the night would be like. "You are pregnant and shouldn't face such things. Moreover, it has been confirmed that there are Evil Spirits present. The fetus is very tempting to these malevolent entities. For the sake of your child, you should rest well at home tonight."
Zhang Linglong listened to the advice and, seeing that everything that needed to be said had been addressed, returned to her room to rest.
As the sun began to set, Sang Qingxiao and her group appeared above Chastity Tower, accompanied by three children. It was Old Vine who insisted on bringing them along; after all, these children would bear significant burdens in the future, and it was better for them to witness some scenes early on.
Old Vine was responsible for their safety and would take them underground if any danger arose.
They had come specifically while there was still light in the sky because they hadn't noticed the presence of Evil Spirits after dark the previous day.
Sure enough, without needing Li Cu to point it out, they spotted a mesmerizing Wildflower around the corner. It swayed rhythmically with its delicate roots despite the lack of wind. Even from a distance, Sang Qingxiao could sense its inherent joy.
It was a demon!
Qi Xiaomian confirmed, "With all this resentment and human blood in the air, it has manifested Demonic Nature. Its level isn't high, and its intelligence isn't weak; it just can't transform. But I wonder if it can speak."
"Can you handle it?"
Qi Xiaomian nodded. "The Magic Breath within me is at a much higher level than it is. I feel I can suppress it without even releasing my Demonic Nature."
"Then it's up to you. But wait before you make a move; it seems to be..." Sang Qingxiao warned as she looked down below. "Old Vine, it's like you—it can burrow underground and is quite fast. Hurry up and follow!"
The group quickly left the city and chased after it until they reached a graveyard. Before they could get close, a thick fog obscured their path.
"Wow! Ghosts! So many! It's terrifying!" The Office of Censors covered his eyes with one hand while trying to shield Buddha Treasure's eyes with the other.
Yin Can scoffed, "What's there to be afraid of? I can burn them all with one move!" He stepped forward protectively in front of Two Little Treasures, putting aside past grievances in this moment of daylight.
This place called a graveyard was actually just a mass burial site; there weren't many marked graves—most bodies were buried haphazardly.
As The Office of Censors had said, there were indeed many ghosts gathered together; what appeared as Baiwu was merely layers upon layers of souls. Their malice seemed minimal; they only appeared to want to drive the group away.
Sang Qingxiao raised her talisman, causing the spirits to tremble in fear. Yet they did not retreat; instead, more seemed to gather as if protecting something.
"The Office of Censors," she called out. "Did you see anything inside?"
Little Buddha heard the summons and bravely squinted into the fog. After just a few glances, he quickly shut his eyes again. "Xiaoxiao, I saw a large mansion—a very big one! The outer walls are somewhat dilapidated; it's a solid structure, but I can't see what's inside."
A mansion? Could it be that the missing men are inside?
Old Vine quickly brought the news. As he emerged from the ground, he muttered a few curses in a foul mood.
The underground was filled with rotting corpses, and I couldn't help but feel uneasy. I had to take several detours, and I still ended up getting some of it on me—what bad luck!
What about that house?
There were living people, both men and women. At this point, Old Vine chuckled, finding the scene inside quite amusing. A woman was teaching while the men were learning. Can you guess what they were studying?
