Chen Xiucai, feeling embarrassed and angry, retorted, "What is there to investigate? If she really looks into this, it means she doesn't trust me. If she doesn't trust me, then our marital bond ends here!"
"Oh, who are you trying to scare? With Miss Zhang's resilient nature, life will go on just fine without you."
"Besides, I've never liked you anyway. With my abilities, I can find you and uncover everything about you. Once I get to the bottom of it, I will expose your true self to everyone."
Upon hearing this, Chen Xiucai first felt fear. But when he saw Sang Qingxiao's back, he forced himself to appear calm, squinting his eyes as he quietly picked up a stone from the ground, intending to strike her on the back of the head.
Just as he raised the stone, Qi Xiaomian, who had been hiding in the shadows, kicked him hard, sending him sprawling.
Sang Qingxiao smiled at Qi Xiaomian. "Did he just try to attack me?"
"Weren't you already expecting him to make a move?"
Sang Qingxiao walked over and kicked him again. Seeing his soft demeanor made her think he would remain weak. However, after just a few probing words, it became clear that his apparent weakness was merely a facade; he showed no hesitation when it came to violence. Zhang Linglong needed to seriously consider how to deal with him.
Outside the mass graveyard, Misha was already waiting for them with the carriage.
They knocked Chen Xiucai unconscious and tossed him into the carriage, which then leisurely made its way toward Meizhou City.
"What do you plan to do with the man in that house?" Qi Xiaomian asked.
"You mentioned before that there are mines in neighboring countries."
Just by mentioning the beginning of the plan, Qi Xiaomian guessed what was intended and chuckled. "You don't mean to send them to my mine as laborers, do you?"
"What's wrong with that?"
"At least give me some strong ones! What use are these people to me? The journey is long; they’ll need herbal medicine along the way just to survive until we reach the mine."
"Even if they make it there, do you really think they can handle mining? They'll probably collapse within days; it would be a waste of effort sending them!"
Sang Qingxiao interjected confidently, "Sending them over isn't a problem. I have talismans; I'll give you some lightweight talismans and they'll arrive in just a few days."
"While they may not be strong, they still have some utility. After being trained by the women for days, they can manage both household chores and skilled tasks like weaving and cooking quite well. Their grace and voices are remarkable too."
"In the lonely mountains where miners work, having them around will make life more comfortable for everyone. They’ll be able to work harder for you in return!"
Sang Qingxiao held her forehead in exasperation. "Qi Xiaomian! You flicked me again! This is the third time you've done this; your aim is even worse than last time!"
Qi Xiaomian glared at her. "Serves you right! What kind of filthy thoughts are running through your head?"
Sang Qingxiao pouted defiantly despite feeling short of breath. "What I said was completely serious; it's your own mind that's gone astray!"
"Still talking back!" Sang Qingxiao muttered softly, "That's just how it is."
Qi Xiaomian turned her head away, ignoring her.
