"Ha, come on, I'm just a bystander here." Qi Xiaomian wasn't even angry. He channeled his Inner Strength and sent it forth. "Qi Hao, I chopped off Mei'er's head for you. Aren't you going to come out and thank me?"
As soon as he finished speaking, a powerful wave of Inner Strength surged from the Qi Family's inner courtyard, felt throughout the entire city. Yet Qi Xiaomian stood firm, brushing off the dust from his clothes and patiently waiting.
It wasn't long before the gates of the Qi Family swung open, revealing quite a few people coming out to greet him.
The first to rush out was his Princess.
As expected, Qi Xiaomian had already mentally prepared himself. Seeing her raise her hand in a striking gesture from afar, he felt calm inside. No longer willing to silently endure like he did in his childhood, he sidestepped her attack. The He Chuan Princess, caught off guard by her own momentum, stumbled and fell hard. Qi Xiaomian didn't even spare her a glance, merely mocking her.
"You’re still as useless as before; truly embarrassing for the royal family."
Hearing this, the He Chuan Princess flew into a rage, abandoning her previous delicate demeanor. She nimbly got back on her feet and attempted to strike him again.
Qi Xiaomian sidestepped once more, and naturally, she missed.
After several such exchanges, Qi Xiaomian grew annoyed while He Chuan's face flushed red with anger. "How dare you dodge!"
Qi Xiaomian looked at her expressionlessly. "I gave birth to such an unfilial beast like you, and yet you dare to lay hands on your father!"
He sighed deeply; indeed, she was still so attached to him. "Your father cares for me; naturally, I cannot be away from him."
To his surprise, He Chuan began to utter a series of words that were almost confessions in this situation. Certain phrases were absolutely forbidden for a princess to say in royal etiquette, but in order to win over a man, she had long since cast aside her past.
Qi Xiaomian disdainfully remarked how embarrassing it was and let her continue her performance.
At that moment, Qi Hao intervened, feeling embarrassed given the number of onlookers present.
He Chuan immediately fell silent but gazed at Qi Hao with eyes full of affection and shyness. Not receiving a response didn’t anger her; instead, she looked at him expectantly, completely entranced and motionless.
While allowing He Chuan to make a show of power first, Qi Xiaomian thought that the second person to stand up for Qi Hao would be Qi Xiaopeng. However, he caught sight of Zhang Jingxue stopping him.
Zhang Jingxue was someone Qi Xiaomian couldn't quite judge. She always focused on her own little corner and never interfered with the women and children of the Rear Courtyard. Often she acted like an observer from above, watching events unfold within the Qi Family.
Even if someone plotted murder right under her nose, her eyelids wouldn’t flutter as if it had nothing to do with her. She only showed warmth towards her two sons.
No one stepped forward, and the atmosphere became tense. Qi Hao frowned in dissatisfaction and asked, "What are you doing back here?"
"Didn't I just say?" Qi Xiaomian replied, pulling out a severed head from thin air and tossing it in his direction. "I'm here to deliver something to you."
Qi Hao's gaze fixed on the head that rolled to his feet, confirming that it indeed resembled Mei'er. He first let out a sigh of relief, noting the absence of any demonic traits, but then anger surged within him. "You have some nerve to provoke me!"
"That's quite unfair," Qi Xiaomian retorted. "I was worried you might hesitate, so I took care of it for you. Why are you angry? You must have been planning to kill her once she became useless anyway, considering she is just a—"
"Shut up!"
As he scolded, Qi Hao destroyed the evidence before everyone's eyes. The severed head was obliterated by his Inner Strength, dissipating into the air.
