Jin Shitong found a hiding spot and crouched down. Seeing two children, barely taller than his calves, acting so fiercely, he patted his chest in relief, glad he had made the right choice to withdraw.
Meanwhile, Qi Hao was cornered by Qi Xiaomian, his face twisted with rage, on the verge of losing control. Sang Qingxiao rushed over in haste.
You were not surprised; it seemed they had known all along.
Qi Hao's voice echoed with a mix of male and female tones, young and old. He no longer suppressed the various impulses within him; his primary goal was to eliminate these two rebellious children before him, as well as anyone who witnessed his state.
So what if they saw? Killing them was all that mattered!
But now, it seemed he had too many opponents.
Qi Hao's gaze locked onto the guards taken down by Qi Xiao Kun in the distance, especially those few he had carefully selected.
Did they think they could isolate him under his very nose?
That rebellious child, Qi Xiao Kun, had been obedient and compliant lately. They said that barking dogs don’t bite, and that couldn’t have been more accurate!
He would start with him.
Chanting an obscure ancient language, Qi Hao invoked powers that Sang Qingxiao couldn’t comprehend but could see the effects of. One by one, spirits detached from Qi Hao’s body and flew towards the guards.
Qi Xiao Kun felt a chilling wind behind him and instinctively retreated several steps. This sense of crisis allowed him to narrowly avoid several deadly attacks.
He stumbled back and rolled away, already sporting multiple wounds.
In the midst of dodging, he finally saw clearly that the guards attacking him had bloodshot eyes devoid of focus. Their faces were layered with ghostly shadows, their movements stiff yet focused, each strike ruthless and intent on leaving him no escape.
Though other guards tried to assist him, their opponents were formidable and unafraid of injury. Qi Xiao Kun managed to evade for a while but was nearing exhaustion.
As death loomed closer, he surprisingly smiled in resignation. Choosing to cooperate with Qi Xiaomian at this moment brought him no regrets.
Losing like this was better than siding with the Evil Spirit.
Unfortunately, he no longer had time to reach the mechanism; his mother would likely take action soon.
He waited on Underworld Road to witness Qi Hao's fate.
Huh? Why are you closing your eyes? Waiting to die?
A child's voice accompanied by a burning sensation made Qi Xiao Kun recognize who it was. Dazed, he opened his eyes in disbelief. Yin Can? You actually came to help me?
Misha sent me here. I didn’t want to come at first, but he said these guards could be killed, so here I am. Not here to help you though; Xiaoxiao won’t let me kill those Demon Catchers. I can only inflict some minor injuries and set a little fire—so boring!
Get up quickly and tell me who I can kill; I want to go have some fun!
As Qi Hao struggled with Qi Xiaomian, he noticed that the guards, frustrated by their failure, directed most of their attacks toward Sang Qingxiao. There was even someone more troublesome than his rebellious child, continuously disrupting his plans. How could Qi Hao let her off the hook?
But this girl was cunning and fierce, wielding a strange Cultivation Method that allowed her to move faster than anyone else. In the blink of an eye, she would appear in different locations. Her weaponry was equally bizarre; one moment it was a knife, the next it transformed into a halberd. When she was at a distance, she would combine it into a bow and arrow, and the arrows could curve mid-flight. When he attempted to deflect them, they would still return to her.
As the arrows around him multiplied, Qi Hao had to be constantly vigilant to avoid being hit. Fortunately, his body had been honed through various medicines and spirits, making him exceptionally resilient, which allowed him to survive.
While Qi Xiaomian took the lead in their assault, she provided support seamlessly. The two worked together with remarkable synergy. For the first time in decades of pride, Qi Hao felt the looming threat of death.
He continuously summoned the spirits within him to fight on his behalf, but each one was systematically countered by his opponents.
