Old Vine and Li Cu finally returned, looking weary from their journey. Li Cu's shiny coat had become tangled and lost some of its luster after just over ten days without grooming. Upon closer inspection, it seemed there were even a few bald patches, and numerous scratches adorned her body. Who had she been fighting with? 0

Her spirited eyes suggested she had come out on top. In contrast, Old Vine appeared shriveled and stiff, a shadow of its former vibrant self. Before Sang Qingxiao could inquire about their trip, Old Vine began to complain, "At my age, I can't be subjected to this kind of hardship anymore. While you young ones enjoy your comforts at home, you send this old fellow running all over the place." 0

Li Cu bounded over with a large chicken leg in her mouth, eager to tattle. "Xiaoxiao, don't listen to him! He's just trying to play the elder card. What hardship has he faced? I carried him back all the way!" 0

"I carried you back," Old Vine retorted immediately. "With your speed, getting lost only takes a moment! The real time-waster is your reckless nature." 0

"Which day in the past ten have you not been fighting? You charge at any slightly formidable beast without a second thought! I couldn't even stop you, and then I had to apologize afterward." 0

Li Cu protested loudly, "Not only did you get lost on the way back, but you also messed up finding our friends among the demon clans! I've gotten into fights several times because you wandered into someone else's territory!" 0

The two seemed ready to bicker further when Sang Qingxiao intervened. "Enough! It's late; what's done is done. The important thing is that you're back safe." 0

"Li Cu," she continued, "Misha made tofu fish today. The fish were caught by the little ones by accident; they're quite big now. Hurry and listen to their stories about catching fish while eating some yourself to regain your strength." 0

Li Cu naturally respected Sang Qingxiao's wishes and wagged her tail as she left. 0

Sang Qingxiao turned back to Old Vine. "That day, you were the one who insisted on going. Besides, you're indispensable here; who else can handle things like you? This Fuzhou is a blessed place, yet it lacks your presence—so it was necessary for you to go." 0

"I had no idea Fuzhou would produce a Sea Goddess," Old Vine replied. "The Bandits' troubles have existed since before the Great Jing Dynasty. In the past, especially near the coastline of Fuzhou, it was not uncommon to see bodies everywhere. Not only was there nothing entertaining to see, but my other self might have been caught up in it too." 0

In that sense, Ling Qian had indeed achieved something significant. 0

"Not just something," Old Vine thought internally; it was very significant. Fuzhou had changed dramatically because of her and had become a blessed land—an undeniable achievement. 0

She had caused the deaths of over a dozen whales but had directly or indirectly saved thousands of Fuzhou's citizens. 0

Her merits were great, but so were her sins; even the most impartial Underworld ledger would struggle to determine which outweighed the other. 0

Yet even so, one could not overlook the contributions of that Whale Demon. She had struck down Bandits and protected humanity; although it was all to please that woman, the process and reasons didn't matter—the outcome was ultimately good. To end up in such a tragic fate was truly lamentable! 0

Old Vine vented her emotions but received no response from Sang Qingxiao. "I've laid everything out for you; why aren't you eager to ask me about my investigation?" 0

Uh, these days a lot has been revealed. A Si has already shared the story between the Whale Demon and Ling Qian with us. 0

A Si? Which A Si? 0

The one who can sing. Our Two Little Treasures even try to mimic his ghostly howls from time to time. 0

No, no, Old Vine shook his head. This doesn't match the information I've gathered. 0

What's wrong? Is there an issue with that A Si? He claimed that the Whale Demon is his person and that he came to the capital for revenge, but when he spoke of him, there was no respect in his eyes. I had my doubts too, but they were unfounded, so I just let it go. 0
